Those were some sweet welds on that implement hitch Steve! Going in nice and hot and shiney! I thought that those angled plates were a good idea and clever use of materials. I'm late to the party, but as you're an experienced Aussie TIG Welder, I'm wondering if this unit would work just in its TIG mode for being a "cheap" option for doing fusion tack welds on 3mm & 5mm mild steel..? (my own experience is only doing "gas welding" work for 50yrs) Currently using Oxy/Acet to do those same fusion tacks, after which all joints get fully brazed using Oxy/LPG... So by what I'm seeing, understanding & hoping, is "this" Bestarc unit could be a "cheap entry level" viable way of doing the fusion tacks & thus eliminate my current need for using Acetylene...would that be a fair assessment??
