Would I buy them again? Without a doubt. I love them. They're quick and easy to install and remove and give so much more room on the inside of the cab.
Do they leak? Yes, but knowing that, I can do something about it. I've adjusted them quite a bit and thought I had a nice fit, but after a strong rain, I found out otherwise.
I love them and would recommend purchasing them if you want soft doors, but just go into it knowing what you're getting.

10/15/2017 Update:
I submitted a review of these doors on Bestop.com and I'm not at all surprised that they decided not to make it public. I didn't bash the product at all in the review, just gave an extremely honest review.

I'm 60 and am on my 4th jeep. Suggestion. Pull the drain plugs in the floor board and keep Jeeping. Free interior cleaning with every rain.

one thing that changed my jeeping experience was when I line-x'd the interior. it cost me around $1000 Canadian (I did the interior strip and prep, took about 12 hours if you have an 08-12 with the fiber glass heat insulation crap. now I run with the plugs out all summer and could care less if water gets in there. if your putting the kind of money we put into these jeeps might aswell make them as barebones as you can. forget the smelly carpets.

Jim Wellman lol. Sorry. I hesitated at first too. No regrets since. I don't even run floor mats anymore.

I'm leaning towards the same same thing. I am just worried about the clock spring getting wet. I use a garbage bag over the steering wheel, but would like something a little better.

I had the same issue with the rugged ridge. I just got the element doors with enclosures. I think im going to buy the cover so i don't have to keep swapping doors. There is literally no seal on the bottom doors even with the supplied weather stripping. I like to run within mine all summer. Once you pull the plugs it makes life alot easier. Especially in summer when it's hot enough for the carpet to dry. I also keep the carpet mats out in the summer. To me it's worth the aggravation when it's nice out and the half doors are in force!

Do element doors have the ability to have uppers?

I have the identical setup. Bestop trektop NX with the bestop soft doors. In dry weather the tops push out from pressure and in the rain allows weather in that opening while rain from the road gushes in at lower front portion of lower doors making my carpet puddle up. I bought them so I can go out of town without doors and pull them out of the back if caught in the rain but not so much so, after all. If jeep is PARKED in the rain, they're not so bad. Let me add that my bestop trektop nx is great, fits nice, and surprisingly quiet.

Wey Runner I love my top and my doors for the reasons you mentioned. Just wish they were a little drier. I keep mine on most of the time.

You can create a nice low profile rubber gutter that runs across the top and down to the side view mirror. You need to remove the door seal from the equation. Everyone tries to get the seal to work, but shielding the seal from rain works better. The big problem is where all he oem gutters and channels dump the water at the top front portion of the seal. Need to remove that from the equation.

2 weeks after taking off the softdoors, I moved them to another location in the garager. When I flipped them upside down a bunch of water poured out of the lower gasket. I guess there needs to be a cap at the top of the gasket so this doesn't happen when your jeep fills with water in the rain.

I know this video is old, but I got a great deal on a used set, and man I worked at it for weeks. It is not possible to achieve a good seal up top. Down at the bottom of the well is no big deal and it will run out, but up top is pretty critical. Sunny day doors only I guess.
@JimWellman
@JimWellman Год назад
Obtaining a seal is pretty much impossible. I dont have my jeep anymore, but from what I remember, the doors would separate up top at about 55 mph.

I've got the soft doors too. The instructions does not say anywhere that they will not leak. I take my carpets out in the summer and pull the drain plugs.
@JimWellman

, but soft doors on older model jeeps don't leak. Well...I should say, they don't leak like these do. I'm just pointing out that these leak like a sieve, so anyone who is thinking about purchasing them, knows what they are getting into before they do so. I wrote an honest review on Bestop's website for this product and they of course did not post it.

The Bestop Soft Doors were never intended to be for a daily driver. They were built to keep some of the dust etc out while on the trails. We Jeepers have decided we should use them on our daily drivers. Yep, they leak. As for the lead edges of the front doors pulling out at speed, again these were never intended for highway driving. That being said, you can use a velcro strap around the sun visor arm and the leading edge of the front door frame to pull the edge tight so it won't flutter. It also helps w/ any rain if you are driving in the rain. No I don't work for Bestop, I have the doors and have looked for fixes to issues as well as contacted Bestop about them. You can also cut those long dangling weather strip pieces shorter on the uppers and I used some clear tubing from the hardware store to link the upper door weather strip to the lower.

When I was in high school (90's) the soft doors didn't leak, nor did they pull out at highway speeds. We're in the 2000's. It's time to engineer a soft door that doesn't leak.

@@brandofamily good point. Upper; however I stick with my statement. Should be able to engineer soft doors that don't have these problems in 2021.

Why bother? In nice weather you can just remove the factory doors.
@JimWellman
@JimWellman 6 лет назад
I'm assuming that you are saying why bother with these types of doors? Here's a reason or two... When I'm out somewhere (away from my house) and want to take off my doors, i can just stick them in the back; upper half or both upper and lower. They fit. You have the option of taking off your hard doors and storing them on the roof, I guess. But what if your top is down or your hard top is off? Where do you store your hard doors then? When I'm driving through a cow pasture or mud, the lower half of the door prevents mud and cow shit from coming inside. You will be cleaning that out of the inside of yours or I guess you can take the doors off the roof and reconnect them before driving through mud or cow shit. Or if you left them at the house, you can drive back home and get them. You ought to try these out sometime, but not in a heavy downpour.

Jim, when the news says there's a 20% chance of rain here in Hallandale Beach, it sometimes rains off and on all day with heavy showers. It rains harder here, more often, than any of the six other states I have lived in. There's Florida and there's south Florida where it is more tropical.That's where I live.
