He said it then and we say it again now, Let us stop the injustice. We all have the responsibility to change the system to ensure that we have a better future. Catch the BET Awards on Monday the 29th of June at 2:00 CAT. #BETAwards
As important a message now, today as it was then, as it has always been. Black is power. Black is human. Black is beautiful, Black is Truth. Black is our then, our now and our futures. I stand with and support Black empowerment and liberation ♡
Is it me, or did the 'celebrities' look awkward/uncomfortable when Jesse mentioned the 'brands'? They damn well know Jesse was throwing them subliminals...Lool!!!
I'm Hispanic with black ancestors in my bloodline. So I can say this much with full confidence; I was ASTOUNDED at the looks on their faces, as if this man said some **** he wasn't supposed to disclose or didn't get approval to say. Why is it that this man has not been heard from again? I find it all very strange and you hit it RIGHT ON THE NOSE. 🎯
On a scale of 1-10; this is a 20. I love how he uses his platform, his articulation of the issues - Jesse, I nominate you to lead the next Civil Rights Movement in this country. Power to the People...All the Power to the People, as I raise my fist head. He makes me feel so very Black and so proud - my brotha you do your people proud!
Watching him on finding your roots brought me back here! This dude in all him light skin & blue eyes ooze blackness & the best we have to offer. This will always be an iconic moment
It's not about the looks for him, his mind speaks for himself. Smart black man. We need more like him to speak the truth. Instead of getting caught up into this garbage of music to be an influence. Enough said!
I just saw a tiny tiny clip on Instagram and came here to find the whole speech! I only needed to hear a few words to know I wanted to hear the whole thing and that I will most likely totally agree!
This man is just amazing listening to him was soothing he spoke raw facts and he was unapologetic looking wt his dad face when he talked was priceless ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I love how he's technically biracial but he identifies as a black man. So many biracial people dont claim their blackness so its a beautiful thing to see.
Really? I thought that doesn't happen. I have long wondered why when a person has a black parent and a white parent the person is always regarded as black, regardless of who the child grew up with. Barack Obama being one obvious example of this.
Here I am searching for this years after it took place. Because it was very special. I am not a black man and I am not American, but my struggle is his struggle. The only difference is that, he asks for change on his country. I ask for change in the world. There will FOREVER be some form of oppression for as long as there is social inequality. For as long as we allow the wealth of humanity to be funneled towards the few while the masses struggle. Like Kropotkin said: "Competition is the way of the jungle, Cooperation is the way of civilization" Forget about color and gender or any other form of discrimination once you end social inequality. It will solve 99,999999% of all our problems, past, present and future. Just like that.
this is the first time i watched this i am late to the party he is a brilliant speaker well done Jesse we need more people like you giving back and trying to effect change i am canadian is a little better here take the reins sir and create a difference
How about agreeing with the greatest living legend Thomas Sowell. unfortunately - most of us black people don’t know or heard off him. He is top 5 greatest Black America treasure and his books should be read by all of us.
All this talk and most of these Black men, especially in the entertainment world, give away Blackness by way of their preferences for white and other non Black Women. But most will act like they blind to this.
So all you people who give Jesse Williams praise which is deserved...stop putting down another black man just because he is half Black and half Canadian...stop being hypocritical...you know who I'm talking bout...AKA AUBREY GRAHAM
I comprehend what this man is saying, but in a country with ~75% White/Caucasian and ~13% Black/African American, equality will never exist. It's simple math. What can exist is recognition of humanity and cultural differences. Racism is taught. Our society is a systemic class-driven machine that gives limited choices to folks who were never born into money. We live in a society of the zero tolerance with a fear of the unknown. Speak to more white folks as you would anyone else. Be free to to inform and not blame, for only a limited few control the many.
Alot of wp know and can see what's going on they don't need to be educated by us. The majority does not want to lose their hierarchy and would rather bask in ignorance then see everyone be treated equally.
In South Africa is other way around. 80% black 10% white but the outcome is the same. Structural Racism. So....you point is wrong. White supremacy is hate and oppression of other races and it is structured into institutions, corporates, banks, culture and religion. Lets not get it twisted and try to rationalize racial hate
wow i remember watching this in 2016 and i was so mesmerized. looking back now, i’m just realizing how divisive it really is. and to think his mother is white? joe heartbreaking. he has an entire heritage of white people with “whiteness”. our fight has always been against people who seek to use their power to oppress, not against an entire race.
And all these ngs did nothing and continued to waste money😂😂😂 promoting trash like ice spice etc etc to there own youth at that for more and more greed
