Hello guys, I had the privilege of helping with some ideas regarding a Beta engine that Iberê from "Manual do Mundo" ( / iberethenorio ) producing a tutorial video, for our Brazilian nation . This motivated me to manufacture this model.
This project will have the purpose of simplifying and speeding up its construction. The biggest difficulty of this engine, is in the manufacture of the crankshaft, however facilitated with the use of clips.
This project was based on an American video tutorial ( • Stirling Engine Tutori... ), but one thing that always left me very dissatisfied in this model, was the need to drill in a bench drill , the screw for the passage of a nylon thread.
So after hours of looking for a practical solution to resolve this issue, I replaced the screw with a screw head and a PET bottle cap. This makes it possible for any citizen to build their first Stirling engine.
The only drawback, due to the use of the fishing line as a connecting rod for the displacement piston, is a twisting of the line, limiting the engine speed to 350 RPM.
Engine features:
- Two cans for the engine construction, the support can for the crankshaft is 11 cm high;
- 30 mm travel of the displacement piston;
- 5 cm long steel piston displacement piston;
- 10 mm of travel of the working piston;
- a 0.38mm nylon line;
