I also recently updated to the latest version of betaflight and I must say that they have made great progress with RTH! nice video and beautiful landscapes!
Congratulations on your successful tests of RTH! I've only had to use that feature one time so far in real world flying but it was sooo nice to have. I use INAV and it is pretty easy to set up and use. It's nice to see that BetaFlight has this feature now too. I love the beautiful footage you get with that Helion and your flying style. Thank you for sharing your adventures. Happy flying amigo! 🍻
I finally got 4.5 on my brain Fpv boards and all I can say is wow. It worked beautifully. I feel so much more confident flying out farther now It’s allowed me to utilize my DJI O3 systems to their fullest without fear
This is amazing man, I lost my Bob recently in Madiera, so I am going to do another build and do my test, I hope to not lose it again. Going to copy your settings for my build
Great video. One thing I do, instead of powering off the TX, temporarily assign a switch to failsafe in the modes tab. This way, if your quad doesn't respond properly, you can quickly disengage the switch and take over control of your quad.
Thanks for the info! But I went all in JUST to show it’s possible if your controller turns off or what ever then it will work. All for Science 🧬😂. If Betaflight 4.5 claims to be good, then how good is it? Will my quads get crazy or will it act like it should? I guess now we find out 😂🫶🏾
After 9 years of flying multirotor, the 5v lead to my receiver on a 10" quad came off in flight. The soldered end of a cable is very brittle and vibrations in the frame or even wind can cause fatigue on the the strands. Scary moment. It came back safely with BF 4.4.2. I recommend that you apply liquid tape (or similar) over the solder point and cable so that the vibration or flex happens on the cable but not at the solder point.
They also fixed the mag compass on 4.5. So u can use the mag. Just got to calibrate compass like each time and make sure pointing right dorection. They also say to test. Cause i know sometimes ny iNAV gets interference and sometimes messes up 😆
Do you have any information on the battery plate with landing feet. I have only seen it in your and Phillip Andre Halvorsens’ videos. Is it a modyfied Iflight battery plate?
NICE FLYING! I JUST TESTED MY GPS RESCUE ON BETAFLIGHT 4.4 AND IT WORKED PERFECTLY. PLS WHAT SETTING DO YOU HAVE FOR YOUR LONG RANGE CROSSFIRE MODULE AND RX? DO YOU HAVE IT LOCKED AT 50/150HZ OR LEFT AT DYNAMIC ? THE MODULE AND RECEIVER POWER ETC?
Hello, Betaflight 4.5 came pre-installed on my helion, but I made the settings, but the drone is not arming in any way. Am I doing something wrong? Can you help me?
Amazing views ! I was in Norway in January, it was amazing ! What gloves do you use to fly ? I subscribe to your channel man ! Keep going the good work !
Yeah!!! I add the aux to angle mode! Normally stage one the drone will be doing what you where doing before failsafe but I want to add it to turn the right way and climb up!
No need for it! I’m just not making sure that the stage 1 doesn’t happen! The 1 second where the drone keep doing the last move from the controller. I skipped it and send it straight to GPS rescue!!!
@@babang_des Thank you for your reply:) There is one thing you stand out as compared to the other as a youtuber is that you take care each of viewers comment. Highly appreciated 👏
Hi Man ! Hope you re well ? What s the difference between 4.4 and 4.5 rescue ? All my quads are on 4.4 and RTH works just super fine. Do you know what is happening if for exemple, you re not receiving video in your goggles anymore, and then fail safe is activating and at the same time you panic et switch on the fail safe Button on your radio ? Is there any security ? Or it just cut off the failsafe ?
As far as I know if you Truly failsafe and you flip the switch then nothing will happen to the quad because there is no connection. So if you lose imagine I would ALWAYS flip my switch.
I really want to try this, unfortunately I use the brain Fpv radix on my copters so I have to wait for them to release the 4.5 FW specifically for their board. It’s annoying, but the other aspects of the radix make it worth it for me anyway
Yeah there is no comparison or argument there INAV will win by light years ahead. But they don’t fly the same and I’m struggling finding a good way to set up INAV on my quads. I have a few quads with INAV but I can’t get them working properly due to lack of tutorials. Soooo I’m here for the time being 🫶🏾
@babang_des exactly the same here... tried Inav... stock tunes are awful... as in they are dangerous lol. I dont know how to tune properly so I'm still with BF for the time being. Betaflight make it so easy.... even though bf defaults might be a bit slack and generic... they do fly well! I can't even get inav to get safe flight.
Sorry my English is not the best. At 2:45 a window opens on the left. What data is that exactly in the window? You then copy it into the BF CLI. Do the LEDs still work? Iflight isn't quite convinced about BF 4.5 yet. I want to do it on my Evoque, but I don't really trust it yet. Goggle translated.
Question please, I saw you using RadioMaster TX16S on your drone ! On the website it says the range for that controller is only 2km , but you used it for more! So did you get any problems in your controller? Thanks
@@babang_des Yes on the controller, I figured it out, I needed to discover all sensors from the crossfire and then the satellite option was available in the widget menu. Thanks for the fast reply.
I've always had pretty good luck with return to home on the previous iterations, but it took a couple attempts on this new one before it landed smoothly lol. By chance, did you happen to test out the GPS mapping or log file that also comes with the new update? I have yet to get that to work or find any videos on how to make that work....
What GPS model is mounted on the quad please? Also I see that you are using 4500mAh LiPo battery...why not to use Li-Ion? You would get twice the capacity with the same weight...also it is better not to completely turn off the radio when testing GPS Rescue on RX loss, much better is to create a new model in with disabled radio, so you can switch quickly back...
I’m using the M10 from iflight and I don’t used Li-Ion because on these bigger machines you pulling something 45amps or more when pulling off a dive and I can’t deal will killing Li-ion that often. And in the cold they are really bad! I rather get there and back fast that spend too much time up there
you deserve a salute for having the guts testing full rth landing with transmitter turned off! i presently have BF4.4.0 and want to install 4.5.0 is it ok to apply my present config, diff files direct into 4.5.0? or do i still need to manually do everything from scratch?
I copied what you did but i dont get any input from my controller i have tbs tango 2 pro crossfire i also have helion 10 im new to the hobby and dont understand.
Wonder if i should switch my 8" back to betaflight from iNAV been on it for years. But sometimes mag interference seems to throw it off in some locations
INAV is by far better than Betaflight, BUTTT!!! There is a lack of information online about how to set it unless you want to deep dive into it. So for now return to have is more accurate than I need it to be so I’m staying here a bit longer 😂.
@babang_des yea but there is 2 spot I go for some reason iNAV comes back a long way. Going around me and back. Like something throws the compass off. It does come back but not straight. Betaflight gps only comes straight back.
One thing I noticed is your baud rate was 11520. The new gps rescue wiki says this The recommended baud rate is 57600. There is little to be gained by using 115200 with the recommended 10hz data rate. Lower baud rates reduce the CPU time required for parsing the incoming data and are more resistant to electrical noise. Also, add mag and barometer. Especially the mag. It made a huge difference with returning to home in the wind. It's more sure of itself.
Do you know why a quad would fly home sideways? (But in the right direction)It does land within 0.5 meters From take off point tho. And its a lot of winds!
@@babang_des Thank you sir! I've been asking this question in several forums and you're the only person who has replied! I just wanted to know if Betaflight can manage RTH without a compass but with just GPS, baro, gyro, and accelerometer!
Nice video! Consider setting the failsafe in Betaflight to a switch on the controller next time. If for example during the rescue mode, the copter flips upside down during landing because it has hit an obstacle and your controller is turned off, you won't be able to DISARM while your copter is freaking out, attempts to drill itself to the center of earth. The next thing is, it's better to land the copter with the motors running and then activate the Rescue Mode. If the Rescue Mode doesn't work, the motors will stop, but your copter won't fall out of the sky.
Failsafe of a switch is pointless it doesn't test failsafe just the operation of the mode you have to actually loose radio link to test the detection and correct opperation of failsafe.
@@dwalosie explain how i am wrong or shutup. A failsafe switch does not test the most important part of the failsafe setup, that your flight controller can tell you have lost signal. You can test gps rescue with just a switch using failsafe on a switch virtually does the same. The best way to test would be to fly to the other side of a sports field and land bur stay armed then turn off your radio it should just take off and fly home. Obviously you would need to turn back on before it gets home. Another way would be to put your drone radio into range test mode to allow you to simulate a signal loss at closer range.
