You know most of these comments hit it right on, there was one lil bit of information you gave in the receivers section that the light came on for me and I just got it you know a light bulb moment but I figured out what type frsky receiver I had changed it up in my tx16s hit bind and off it went. Thank you for all the hard work you put in this channel us newbies really need it.
Glad I found this..I bought a Crux35 (elrs) and a Zorro Elrs TX. I had no clue how to set up the quad...directions are horrible for a newbee. Thank you for this...its gotta help alot. Now, if I can get my Zorro set up..I might be able to fly soon! Ive been flying RC planes for 50 years..and Drones for 3 years. THIS IS ALL new to me!! YIKES! Thanks again
Thanks man, great video. I've watched many videos on betaflight and learned the most from yours. You explained every option rather than just show me "what I should have" and actually taught me something. You should add to your resume that your the guy that taught me what a UART is!
This was a great introductory video, really pushed past a lot of the bloated confusion and made this straight forward. Thanks for this video, made beta flight feel a lot less intimidating!
Some of the best videos are seriously under rated. This is the benchmark for informational videos. Cannot thank you enough for the straight forward and concise delivery. Subbed!! Belled!!
Easy to understand and follow review, right tempo (at least for me) - I could listen without stopping and repeating again. I searched exactly this kind of review which gave me (novice) good understanding of all those multiple options. Examples right away about parameters - use and ranges is just what I needed now. Thanks you very much for this very pedagogical video!
Thanks for this explanation on the fundamentals of betaflight. It gives me a better understanding of what betaflight expects me to do when configuration my fpv. Keep up the great job.
Great tutorial. Your students are lucky to have you as a teacher. Now you just have to show Chris which switch to throw to get those 4 min turtle time flights...lol.
The biggest thing that held ME back in beta flight was the info on the main WELCOME tab. It contains driver info and links to update the usb drivers on your PC so beta flight could connect to the drone. It works perfectly for you but first timers will get stuck at that point. (CP 210X drivers- STM USB VCP Drivers) along with "Zadig" and impulse rc driver fixer. It was right in my face the whole time.
Old vid, but Pro Tip: If you have a Tinyhawk Freestyle II, remove the batterystrap when you plug in, it makes it easier to connect and less likely you`ll break the micro usb. Micro usb is kinda trash lol.
Thanks Jack, even though I've been doing this awhile I picked up on a couple things I've always wondered about like what is a uart! Lol. But you explained things that even a dummy like me can understand and that's what I like about you.
Hello , I have a 6" and I config my drone in betaflight 4.4 and I want the most smooth and ultra cinematic config to surf in mountains any tips ;) tanks
Can you tell me when you’re in beta flight in the modes area some people adjust the tabs and they make them short instead of the length that they are in beta flight and they say they’re tightening them up I don’t understand what that does if your on a three way switch and you have three positions I understand that but what is making them tight and short do?
What does it mean if it’s being laggy while showing my drones movement, and it doesn’t want to show my yaw movement? I can get it to work sometimes by replugging it in, but not always.
This is the video I have been looking for. Everything seems to be working as it should. Except, when I arm my quad the motors spin. Throttle stick up motors at full power. But, throttle stick down, motors are still full. Is this a betaflight fix or radio fix?
@@jerryzito6840 well there's a setting for idle speed in betaflight if I remember correctly. But I misread your comment so I actually am not sure but if it can't be fixed with betaflight it's probably the hardware
On my controller I've found that for some reason I had to change to mode 4 witch for us is the same as mode 2 but in that controller settings it's different that's why I had to change to mode 4,, very odd,, so my question is why is this,,,,,
Noob question, so we need to configure from the radio itself (mixer is it) then configure also in beta flight? Made some changes, some are ok, some are not, maybe I missed something. Are all props mounted the same way, meaning I could use the same tool (prop wrench?)
While running my Quadcopter the motors are running if I'm testing through my laptop but after disconnecting from it and using transmitter the lights are blinking but motors are not moving. They are still . What should I do ? Please help. @halfchrome
You need to unplug and plug it back in after being plugged into beta flight, beta flight has a safety feature that disabled arming so if you unplug the usb without power cycling your quad it still thinks it’s on beta flight and will refuse to arm @Tushar Sen
I've just bought a Nazgul5 hd custom build has a mamba f722s board with betaflight 3.5.7 on it. Is it out to do big update to latest betaflight firmware? Really great video 👍
Thank you for this excellent tutorial. I've walk through all the settings you showed but my drone still won't arm. I also don't see the Failsafe tab in your video. Do I need to adjust anything else?
So the chord that plugs into the drone can be a micro usb or usb c or whatever but what is the other side of the chord that goes to the computer and which port do I plug it into the computer
Great video! One thing I didn't see. Is there a way to adjust the response of the drone. Basically fly at a slower speed? I fly DJIs Air2s and Mini2 for work (FAA Part 107 pilot licensed). I recently got a little TinyGo 4K for some fun inside shots. However I would like to tame in down a bit rather than race it. Thanks, Joe PS: I taught form many years, and I must say, you knocked it out of the park!
This is an amazing video and I set up my meteor65 Pro ELRS 2.4G with the micro tx elrs module with my radiomaster tx16s, but I still don't know how to actually make it fly. Everything is binded but I don't have goggles yet, but I don't know if that's the problem. I was thinking of getting the EV800D but I also don't know if it would bind with the drone. Do you have any solution to fly my drone after all the steps you said and if the EV800D will pair with it?
@@HalfChrome When I go to the tiny model at the bottom of the receiver tab and I move the sticks, everything seems to work fine. Its just that when I switch the arm switch, nothing happens (When my receiver isn't connected to my laptop). Do you know what other things might be causing this and how I can fix it? Also, on my radio other than the analog sticks, I have 3 other switches (arm, fmode, and buzz). On betaflight it says there 8, should I delete the extra ones I'm not using?
Wish I would’ve watched you first, I have flysky fs I6 with diatone gt r349 it flew but all I wanted to do was see what flight mode it was on and I followed another youtuber and completely messed the drone up now drone doesn’t respond at all to transmitter but drone does pulse one motor when battery is plugged in , even when transmitter is off. So I ordered a new drone and new transmitter but at least I was able to get the drone off the ground for a combined total of 5 minutes before ever attempting to “Fix” it😂😂😂
@@HalfChrome Ive watched many videos about betaflight but I'm not sure how to do it on a chrome book. In all the videos I watched none of them talked about a Chromebook so I am clueless.
Hey man. I truly appreciate your content, but I was wondering if you could help me with updating the firmware on my Babyhawk R? It was last updated in Sept. of 2019 and won’t bind with my Zorro which was updated in Feb of 2022.
Also…. I have tried pretty much everything I can think of to get it to bind except for switching out the receiver. So if you have any ideas, I am open to hear. Thanks.
Great video, but JB has a ton of videos on BF for beginners and advance users alike so why bother when you can be creating content that no one else has. Please don't take this the wrong way, just me honest opinion.
Yes. JB does have similar videos. But they are different and longer. I created this video for someone to get a BNF off the ground. I teach a class and this video is both specific and concise and I wanted it for those reasons.
@@HalfChromethis video is great! Is like a short and non complicated version of 100 videos from JB, and don't get me wrong, it is great to have both to choose, but I just prefer this, thanks!!!
@@HalfChrome I bought the nazgul evoque f5 and I'm still waiting on the battery. Havnt even activated it yet. Just activated the remote though. Just trying to get tongs done ahead of time. So no battery required to do the setup? My first fpv but not my 1st drone. Please be patient lol.
If you're doing a configuration vid for "BEGINNERS" why not show how to link your transmitter?? Instead you skipped that whole step and assumed the viewer already knows how??? This is one the most important steps of the whole configuration and you skipped it. Very frustrating!
Hi Jack, I have a EMAX TinyHawk III. I watched your Beta Flight video for the first time last week thinking I could dial it in more but somehow I wiped out the board I believe. I managed to download the CLI file and successfully load it back onto the VTX. It now responds in beta flight and flashes blue and red lights. I have tried to bind the VTX to the transmitter with no luck. I must be missing a step but nothing seems to work. Also, the FPV screen turns on now but just shows a blue screen, no video so I am guessing that is not being transmitted either. Can you please help me or direct me where to go from here? Thank you so much Jack
I have an Emax tiny hawk II freestyle and after lots of digging I’ve found that the VTXs on them go out easy. For the freestyle II it’s fixable and won’t go out again but from what I’ve found on the indoor versions is that if you fix it it will just go out again later. Hope this helped
