Fascinating stuff. Peter in football if a team’s playing at home they gain a big advantage. Is it the same in tennis if a player is playing in his/her own country?
tennis players have definitely such an advantage IF the crowd is more on their side. for the upcoming australian open the aussie players will have a small home advantage, because the aussie crowd is known to be a louder one. but the surfaces the matches are played on have a much bigger influence. for example nadal is the king of clay, but on other surfaces he isnt as dominant as on clay. that said a particular style of play has a much bigger influence when combined with the surface. Good servers that hit a lot of aces, prefer fast surfaces cause its adds to their style of playing the game. Remember Goran Ivanisevic? He won Wimbledon once, but was he good on clay? No, because his style was for fast surfaces and clay slows the pace of the shots down. So try to study styles of playing the game, that will help a lot more than "home advantage".
