You guys' reaction was the same as mine. They're in the car, "she unbuckled her seatbelt and then it happened".... yep, kinda hot. Then right after that she says that they both laughed right after and Viv got out of the car and then they went their separate ways, but absolutely could not stop calling each other. It sounds SO normal, maybe it didn't happen in a car or you didn't have a big soccer tournament to go to afterwards, but I think almost everyone has had a situation like that - when you realize you're super into someone and they're super into you and you have your first kiss.
I've read the book a few times now. It really is an awesome book. Shows the ups and downs and everything inbween the football family and Beth just being Beth. Open honest and raw. If anyone is in two minds if they should get it. Don't think just do it ♥️
I have listened to the book on audible, and it makes for great listening. The section on her relationship with Viv sounds lovely, just like a love story.
Watched the Juventus-Arsenal match yesterday. Great goal by Viv! Quite possible that she dedicated the goal to Beth. The Book is such an important piece of representation. By sharing her relationships, Beth is normalizing queer relationships, which is absolutely beautiful.
Can see VIV has really come out of her shell!! Seems Lisa has a new partner to!! Love these new relationships they all seem so suited to each other!!! Really hope Beth gets back from injury as soon as she can. Take care👍👍
Justin Fashanu came out publicly as gay in 1990 in The Sun newspaper, and was disowned by his family including his brother John, who also played professional football. Justin had suffered homophobic abuse throughout his career and was even mocked by The Sun after giving them the exclusive. He ended up taking his own life at the age of 37. John Fashanu was on breakfast TV recently talking about the World Cup in Qatar, where homosexuality is against the law; he was criticising players for wearing rainbow armbands, saying that we should keep politics out of football. Hugo Lloris, the French goalkeeper, said that we should respect Qatar's laws even if we disagree, but why should you RESPECT DISrespect and bigotry? Beth and Viv deserve massive respect for being so open about their relationships, because homophobic trolling on social media is a big problem. They're great role models and I'm looking forward to reading Beth's book.
Tasmania was the last state to legalise homosexuality in 1997. Our other states and territories has legalised homosexuality way before this. The first (South Australia) in 1975!
I've started reading it today. Chapter 14 and 15 were great and that's where i stopped for today. I'm not much of a reader, but this book, you just can't stop and it reads so easy.
Am I the only one that thought some of the comments in the book from Beth, were slightly insensitive toward Lisa ? She slid in after their breakup and then said Vid was like a new better version of herself ? Maybe I’m just a softie for Lisa but the whole time , I was thinking about how Lisa would feel if she read it
I don't think it was meant to sound like Beth was being insensitive towards Lisa, she just wanted to be honest that her and Viv got closer, because Viv was really close to certain people and hanged around them more then some others like Beth. You can tell for sure that Viv got more open and started talking to other teammates more. When you're in a long realtionship you just get close to that person and you kinda stay around them more then others. It's just the way it goes. When Jill was still in the Arsenal squad, the people Viv hanged around with was mostly Lisa, Jill, Mana and Katie because, she knew them the best. Everybody changes when you just have broken up with someone you have been with for a really long time and you might start hanging out with other people, that's just the way it goes. Viv and Beth didn't expect to get that close, Beth just reached out to her teammate and asked if she was okay and they started talking because of it.
Usually, there is no ambiguity with celebrations or tributes. I think had she dedicated the goal to Beth she probably would have done a 9 with her fingers or she would have had an undershirt with "For Beth" on it.
I am definitely recommending the audio book for everyone, as you can listen to it whilst doing the chores. I also have the hard copy which I am working through as well, also for the pictures.
Haven’t read or bought Beth’s book yet, may be sometime next year as I have too many on paper and Kindle in my to read list. Do highly recommend a recent autobiography from retired Australian cricketer Alex Blackwell titled Fair Game as there was a lot she wrote about the challenges facing women in Australian cricket (as dominant in the sport like the USWNT) and especially being a lesbian in the sport (she was the first on the national team to come out). One example with the latter was overhearing a Cricket Australia executive stating having more HABs (husbands and boyfriends as opposed to WAGs) in women’s cricket makes the sport better, using the example of Mitchell Starc, husband of Alyssa Healy, both cricketers on their respective national teams.
If you are extremely busy, then I recommend that you get the audio book then you can listen to it whilst doing the housework, having a shower, cooking etc.
My husband and I where friends 22 years before we got together know I've known him more then 40 years and it's great. Ours was we were both in relationships with and both broke down I had a spare room at my house he moved in and after about a year friends became more.

Es que Beth era amiga de las dos las visitaba en su apartamento y ahora vive con viv, eso para mi es raro es como si se hubiera metido en la relación de ellas, aunque a mi solo me gusta como juegan nada más su vida privada no me interesa pero eso si es raro ver eso que después de convivir con Lisa ahora viva con viv, por eso no lleven amistades a su casa
