Every artist draws inspiration from somewhere. Hence why I mentioned ‘paying homage’ Forgot I even commented on this video 3 years ago. Thanks for bringing it back to my attention. 😂
You are awesomness personified, super humoristic. This are the kind of people you read comments on RU-vid and you don't regret the time you spent reading it.
Great tribute to Madonna, obviously stated, and well delivered. Awesome song. This is how you pay homage to the queen while artistically being yourself. A lot of other current artists could learn something here.
She Is So Beautiful! A Couple Of Times When She Turned Around And They Showed Close-ups I Couldn't Breathe,Just Pure Glamour. I Just Love Her,I Admire Her For Being So Fearless,Fashionable And In Your Face.
I love the way she moves her hips. She's so like: "You can be fat and sexy" and girls she's sooooooo right!!!! Don't pay attention to the fashion industry. be yourself and you're gonna be the happiest girl in this world!!
I put you up, I treat you well Tell you secrets I never tell We pretend, it's all okay But there's one thing we never say The world is full of good intentions Paradise is hard to find Say they love you but they don't mention Who they were with again last night Revenge, regret, I wrote the book Forgive, forget, I wrote the book Keeping secrets, I wrote the book on it don't test me Heartbreak and then some, tell me where is a friend when you need one Before you take a second look, remember I know every trick in the book It never stops around the clock When I'm there, you speak so soft The runaround will wear you out You break it off, I'll break you down The world is full of good intentions Paradise is full of lies Tell you they love you but fail to mention Who they were with again last night Cheating, sneaking, I wrote the book Begging, pleading, I wrote the book Lying, crying, I wrote the book on it don't test me Heartbreak and there's some, tell me where is a friend when you need one Before you take a second look, remember I know every trick in the book Heartbreak and there's some, tell me where is a friend when you need one Before you take a second look, remember I know every trick in the book I wrote the book, I wrote the book, I wrote the book on it don't test me I wrote the book on it don't test me now I wrote the book on it.
maybe iam wrong but i can hear Kate Bush and Madonna in this song not they are singing but the tones.. hey girl-- BethDitto i just found out who you are when i whas watching Monarch
Before paying homage to the 90s was fashionable. I can’t believe I just thought of this song randomly 😂. The last time I watched it was literally 12 years ago.
As a fan of Gossip and BBW, I'm happy Beth Ditto has her solo spotlight in mainstream/pop culture, but I miss the more soulful, gritty sounds of her indie band Gossip.
I listened to this on German radio, but couldn't catch the title. Now it's everywhere:) I love the whole packe, she is doing a great job. The repeat button will suffer today:)
I remember first listening to this song when I was like 12 I thought she was singing "I know every bitch in the book" so I assumed she was talking about the Burn Book from Mean Girls and the rest of the lyrics helped to support my theory lol. "We pretend it's all okay" "Revenge, regret" "We break it off, I break you down" "Tell me where is a friend when you need one?" Only to discover I was wrong and I still think about it 5 years later each time I hear this song.
I just heard this for the first time, and I was convinced she was singing "I know every chick in the book" . . . then I realised it must be "trick", haha.
prolly was in the underground lgbtq+ community. the best isn’t mainstream enough. too repetitive and boring frankly. however it’s more fault of the music industry and not the song :(
This song is GREAT and she is GREAT that she sang this song!! Give credit where credit it due and dont let her physicall form cloud your judgement. It btw gives me a early 90's feeling i guess its the beat and the style of the videoclip.
I saw this video yesterday on Boombox and I immediately fell in love and the justify my love reference (I'm a huge Madonna fan) this video and song is too perfect :) I wish I could dance to this at a club but sadly I'm 16 /:
that's the same impression I had, When they take a close-up from her face, she looks a lot like the young madonna. Beth may be having a larger size but admit... she has a beautiful face.... and a great voice, I think she is quite a lady to respect in music business
the "clever" framing and props and all that crap annoy me all the more cause we all know Beth is immensely proud of her body and very unapologetic about it (as she should be!). and someone still didn't want to let her properly show it.
