Beth, you should never have shown us the sweaters that have no written pattern..I love the construction so I hope you do! You should be proud of the vest..it's georgous! For Fox Sake is a great pattern.Im sure Geoff will love it..All the best!
Oh my gosh, I love the brown myak sweater. I hope you publish it. Oh, it’s in Lion yarn too! I should wait until the end of the episode to post haha. Final thought, the vest is beautiful. You are justifiably proud of the neck shaping-it’s lovely :) P.S. as always, love the views of your island-hurricane 😬
Thanks so much! I'm sure I will publish a version of those two sweaters. Think they just need a bit of tweaking etc. Stay tuned & thanks so much for watching!
Thanks Beth! I'd been wondering what the fallout from the hurricane was around your area - thanks for the snippet. Your design mind has been on fire - wow! Yes I so agree with your suggestion that obsessing over the things in life we can't control anyway can be 'transferred', so to speak, to a lovely creative outlet of what the mind seems to want to do. And result instead in something productive and satisfying!
Thank you! Yes my creativity has been on overdrive and its such a great feeling. Walked another section of the railway trail this morning and more branches down there too. The roads have long been cleared after the hurricane but the walking paths tend to take a bit longer. In a few weeks, I'm sure you'd never know a hurricane passed through.
The sweaters with the patches are a really nice. Hope you release the pattern eventually. The gray scoop neck vest and the Dimond Lane vest are gorgeous!
I love your inspiring podcast. I can't wait for the vest to be published! It is so interesting listening to your thought process... The ribbon sweater made me think of Ribbon Candy, it doesn't incorporate the technique name but it was the first thing that popped into my head.
I am so appreciative of detailed, talented designers like you who put so much effort into making every part of the fit and look of a piece perfect. I also love your two color version of the multi color sock pattern by Summer Lee!
We really need you to publish the top you’ve applied patches to. It is really a nice fit, and very beautiful. Also love the others you are preparing to release.
I am soooo excited for that boxy tee/ East Village Tee (lol) pattern….first in line for next summer’s knits! Pride in your work is not pathetic; we love your patterns because of all the thought, work, planning, effort you put into them.
Thank you! I love crochet too but not comfortable yet with drafting a pattern in crochet. If you are speaking of the granny squares I was working on, that's a pattern called Fleetwood by Tanis Lavalee and its available now on Ravelry ❤
Hey Beth! Oh everything is sooo pretty! Love the complex cables and ribbing of your grey vest and that first top in the Rosewood - LOVE the simplicity and depth of the fabric with the garter and ribbing... I'll look forward to your call for testers for that one. My brain is enjoying being in simple mode right now, and it's lovely to go with the flow and embrace some less complex patterns in my library. My brain gets a little frantic wanting to cast on ALL of things and then realising that my hands go at very sub-frantic speed, lol. So much fun to enjoy you sharing all of the thoughts for upcoming designs! Cheers, until next time! Judith 💜💚
Thank you so much Judith! I’m also like that with the frantic cast-on-itis feeling 🤣 especially when there is such great creativity everywhere!!! Fall is definitely our season!!! Take care & thanks again ❤️
OMG LOVE the top you have on and can’t wait for the pattern - the slightly larger sleeve width is so helpful with size inclusive and looking very forward to be able to make it. Great inspiration and explanations for how you design - such care and thought. Thank you for always sharing with us.
There is so much to obsess over that we have little or no control over! Thank goodness for knitting. Love seeing your own designs and also your version of others. You didn’t mention the hurricane damage so I hope that means it wasn’t too bad
Thanks for the company while I knit! You are so prolific with your designs!! (I love how casually you mention designs that you have designed but haven't published...like it's no big thing!) 💕xo-Kate P.S. The reminder to focus on the things we can control was timely. 😊
Thanks Kate! You'd be surprised at how many I have knit and not published - all part of the process for sure! Thanks so much for watching and looking forward to seeing you all very soon!❤
Love your designs, am knitting a bermy basic 20 and loving it with yarn from my stash you have such beautiful designs. I too hope that you publish the my yak 😊sweater they are simple but yet have such beautiful details. Thank you for designs. 😊
hi Beth I love your summer sweater you have on but I think it would be just the right transitional piece in a wool cotton blend to wear over a shirt so I hope you consider publishing it very soon. 😊 just my thoughts
GM Beth sooo happy to see your face this morning 😊 Your tee you are wearing is gorgeous and wool colours amazing !! All your designs are beautiful 😍 Until next pod enjoy your days to the fullest and in relax mode 😊🥰
Great episode Beth! Love the cabled vest. Agree with your friend. I immediately thought of "Armour" when i seen it. Or a "Shield". Thanks for the catch up after your Summer travels. Agree, 40 mins is a good length for episodes.Thank you! 🇨🇦🥰Sharon.
Thanks again for a very entertaining episode of this podcast. As a name suggestion for your beautiful sweater I have „pas de deux „ .the cowl is gorgeous and one of these days I’ll probably knit it, but right now my days are definitely too full and too short.
Love everything, Beth! Your Entrer duex sweater just reminds me of the song Pretty Ribbons. Love the cowl and love the sweater you haven't written out. That's so cute! Maybe you can publish it, haha! I feel the same about the things you can't control. All the best, Kimberly
Thank you Kimberly - great associating with the song. I'll listen to that to see if I hear a name in it. Or just Pretty Ribbons... All good ideas! I have them on my list. Thanks again
I love your designs Beth! I really love the top you designed for nonpooling effects. What an interesting intelligent design! Also, the brown no name sweater with the patches is so smart and sophisticated looking on its own. I hope you publish it sooner than later! It has just the right amount of texture and is so flattering.
Great episode, and Happy One Year! Really enjoy your podcast. And-- you didn't ask for it, but how about naming the new summer top 'Get out of the Pool!" Seems apt, as you help us manage pooling.
Wow ! You have been so busy… as always such lovely designs and beautiful fibers .I think the icing on the cake with the ribbon detail is just perfection… so unique and elegant... Inspiration overload! :) Have a great day.
Around Yo Go With Entredeux! That’s all I could think of. What a beautiful sweater. Can’t wait to knit it. I was an heirloom seamstress so that was fun to see in a different medium.
Love your unarmed sweater. Since you fell in love with the yarn maybe it should be you “ Summer Love” sweater ha ha. Love your socks also. I also got the club and can’t wait to start mine. ❤
I really love watch g you lovely podcast. You have so many lovely sweater patterns and this new cowl is absolutely gorgeous. Can’t wait to see what you will name your beautiful sweaters. Tchau amiga 💖
Love all your knits and I especially love the new scoop neck cabled vest🥰!! I am just finishing your Pothos Tee, and absolutely love it!! I'm excited for the release of your vest! Thank you for the awesome video🥰
I enjoyed this episode. So happy to come across your first one a year ago! Love the cabled vest pattern, it kept drawing my eyes over your shoulder. Granny square pattern generator - how cool!
Dear Beth, always wonderful spending time with you! That new vest design is AMAZING! I will definitely be waiting for that ❤ I love your approach to knitting and designing and always love to hear about it! I also ordered yarn to make the Fox sake sweater for Baljeet (good to know the three color crazy coming my way 😂) I feel the same about obsessing about knitting instead of things we can’t control ❤️ Hope to see you at Rhinebeck ❤
Thank you Megha! Hope your trip to the Netherlands and Belgium and I think Germany too was super fun. Always great to see your photos - thanks! Yes I'm going to Rhinebeck and hopefully we can connect a bit there. Such fun. I think the knitting shop in Mt Kisko are having a Thursday event again this year. That was so much fun last year, hoping I can swing that again. See you there maybe? All the best & happy knitting!
The muted colors of the top you are wearing at the beginning remind of the different colors of jasper in the rivers around here. OOH, the patch on the back of the brown sweater is gorgeous! I love your attention to detail on picking up stitches around the neckline so things line up beautifully. I am getting better about always bringing a small project with me when we are out and about. I find if I have it and don't work it, no biggie, but if I don't have it I wish I did!
Thank you! Yes the colors in that yarn were soo appealing, really caught my eye. Thanks again & yes always worth having a project with you, you'll never regret it but will regret it when you dont have it! 😁❤
Beth have you seen Shorty heel tab socks by Larissa Gregorin on Ravelry. A fab free pattern. So much inspiration in this episode. Love those jumper patches, and the cabled vest is just gorgeous. Watching from NZ❤
That pattern is definitely on my to-do list. I find though, that when I'm reaching for socks to knit I need something really mindless and that heel tab and then heel does need some concentration. When its the right time, I'll definitely give them a go. Thanks for the reminder!
I do love entre deux as a name for that design. Entre Deux Casual Sweater sounds too simple but there you go, that’s what comes to mind as my suggestion right now.
All of your designs and knits are so lovely! I love your attention to detail and the shape of the garments. We are in the same stage/age of life, not sure if that's why I'm drawn to you, whatever the reason, I'm glad I found your channel and patterns 💙
What a lovely episode! So nice to see you back home after your vacation. Your new designs are lovely! I love the special work you did lining up the lines on your new vest. What about calling your entredeux sweater design “Between”? And please do bring us the “Patches” pattern 😊
Thank you! Yes definitely nice to be home... Great idea on a name. I'll add that to the list. The "patches" pattern is back on my to-do list to publish.
Your new designs are all amazing. I also appreciate your focus and consideration of the length of your episodes. I like to know I can watch an episode in one sitting.
Your sweaters are so lovely! I have the Summer Lee sock patterns as well. 2 weeks ago I broke my arm, so knitting is slow now. However, your sweater--as your podcast is "Knitwear Designs From the Rock," the words "Rockin' Ribbon Sweater." It's not nearly as classy as what you called it. Enjoyed the episode today.
I think a name for the sweater could be Entre Ellipse. The sweater reminds me of elliptical rings like many comets have an elliptical orbit around the Sun that brings them closer at some times and farther away at others. Ellipse is shaped in a sort of oval/stretched out circle just like the rings on the sweater.... Entre Ellipse
Icing On the Cake Vest is DREAMY! I love the texture and the ribbon is, well, the cherry on top of the icing on the cake. 😊 What is the date of Cakepalooza? My friend and I are attending Wool and Folk and I have a feeling they conflict with each other. For the sweet, nameless, sweater, perhaps a play on “Entre deux,” Maybe “Betwixt And Between,” or just “Betwixt?”
Thank you! Great ideas! Both added to the list. Cakepalooza is the same day as the Wool and Folk event. I'm doing them both and starting at CakePalooza and then heading to Wool and folk for the afternoon. Hope to see you there!
I had two kidney stones , one in each kidney. I went to the ER and they admitted me in the hospital immediately because I could have had both kidneys fail. It was the worst pain, I've ever experienced. I have had natural child birth, and this was way worse.
OhmG...lol this was a reply to a different podcast that was talking about going to the hospital in London and waiting 5 hours before any pain relief. Sorry, I don't know how it got here. 🤣
Beth, could you tell me what pattern that is that you knitted with the Lionbrand fisherman's wool? I have a bunch in stash and really like the look of your pullover. Thanks!
Hi sorry - yes the link for the Granny Square generator has now been corrected. Not sure what happened there. All of my knits are shown on my Ravelry Project page and my Ravelry handle is BethMacDonaldStone which is noted at the top of my show notes. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
Sweater name; you have rows of entre-deux separating sections of plain stockinette, how about translating into English and calling it 'Between Two Plains'.
Excited to hop inside your designing mind again! So many great ones! I live in white button down shirts - under sweaters and vests. And white tshirts in summer. Just buy new ones every other year. Nothing beats bright white. 🤍🤍🤍
