This was great! Why so many cuts though? Let it be as long as possible, and include everything (unless she asked you to specifically edit things out). Follow Pete Holmes' You Made it Weird template and just keep it all in! We love it all!!
Beth feels like a friend. I could relate to her experiences so much, like receiving angry criticism that comes from a place of hurt and responds to kindness. I could also relate to her "broken picker" and needing to remember herself after traumatic relationships. I love that the two of you are living with the same comedic metaphor right now; her bits are great. I love the title of this episode. Thank you for a refreshing conversation. I'm a field hockey player, too. I haven't played since college and really miss it. I need to get back to myself after a divorce. Maybe I'll take a page out of her book and pick up field hockey again now. Best of luck on the field and on stage, Beth! ❤
I’ve seen both Mike and Beth LIVE (Detroit & Chicago) and yes, it feels just like you’re hanging out listening to a friend talking. Of course I’ve seen their filmed specials and I can’t believe how lucky we are to get a glimpse like this behind the scenes, seeing how the bagels are made. Of course, I’m writing this eight months after the interview, so from their perspective, they have no idea about the wonderful shakeup in the presidential race, that Australian break dancer, or that the aliens finally said “hi.” Shhh… don’t tell ‘em; we wanna see how they react!!
I was shocked to find out Beth is from Dayton. I don't see the midwest. And that's before we get into the difference between rust belt and Midwestern. I would have guessed PNW, though I never thought about it. And I'm from Columbus originally so I'm not throwing shade. Ironically I've always seen a bit of myself in Beth's comedy.
Just finished watching Handsome podcast where Tig mentioned the movie “Sleep Walk With Me” and now I’m here for the first time where I see the movie poster on the wall. Going to watch that next!
Beth I'm 44 and I've come to realize, I'm all out of eventually and somday's. It hit me like a truck but its so damn important. Good luck in Argentina.
I'm so used to listening to this podcast only (it's my favourite podcast!!) but I just love watching these interviews! Keep posting more to youtube! Also happy holidays and a merry christmas parmesan!
I just adore Beth. I started this video thinking I'd watch 10-15 mins then finish it later, but wound up watching the whole thing in one sitting. She's so smart & insightful & interesting.
