Thanks for this video. Increasing the headways would be a huge help to make the bus better. Also the BCT app is pretty terrible. I would love to take the bus more, but it’s simply impractical for almost all cases compared to just driving. Here’s hoping for future improvements.
You’re probably right, but because Miami-Dade just launched the Better Bus Network and are experiencing a lot of… growing pains, along with the South Dade BRT still under construction, I thought it was better to not bring them up too much.
@@browardurbanismNo not alot of growing pains. An epic failure More of a lack of respect for the elderly, disabled, and alnost anyone else they think are disposable . More walking, buses no longer stopping at bus shelters and instead the replacement is a bus stop no one knows about
Trust me, you do NOT want BCT to follow Miami-Dade's lead. The Better Bus Network in Miami-Dade has been an unmitigated catastrophe since it was implemented 3 weeks ago. There is a full rider revolt in progress, because Miami-Dade took whatever few benefits the plan had by eliminating many other routes, and by doing bizarre and nonsensical truncations and reroutes of others. The system has become a nightmare, all thanks to Jarrett Walker's corrupt and incompetent Transit Alliance Miami puppet group. Please do not use the garbage he invented as any sort of model for Broward's bus service. BCT, despite it shortcomings, is an excellent system and only needs improved headways on local routes and some additional new routes to improve on that. Robbing people of their service to fund improvements on a few corridors will devastate the system and it's not worth it, trust me.
Have you seen FDOT latest Broward Commuter Rail (BCR) South study? The state and municipalities should support the idea of adding a commuter rail on the FEC railway. Also, I have seen new mixed use developments in Hollywood. My favorite one is the University Station Mixed Use by the Housing Trust Group, which is supposed to be a transit oriented development for mixed use which will be right next to a future commuter rail station. Broward is moving forward but way too slow. The future should be more transit oriented development.
I would like to add that more people would use transit if it was safer. If you have ever been to the central terminal in downtown Fort Lauderdale you will see always fights, stabbings, mentally ill, drug addicted, and homeless people everywhere. They should clean it up and hire a few security guards like Tri Rail does.
Would they ever reconsider running segragated BRTs in the middle of 595 and/or I-75? Or the "just one more lane will fix it" crowd keep shutting it diwn?
Supposedly some County officials and electeds do believe that it’s a possibility to have rapid transit in the medians of highways. Unfortunately, FDOT decided to use the medians for express lanes, so unless the possibility of repurposing them for BRT in the future comes up, FDOT killed that possibility. There are currently zero plans to use highway Right Of Way for rapid transit, it’s all on arterial roadways.
You have a car, your commute is already 3x faster than people taking the bus. You do realize people like you and everyone else deciding to drive creates more traffic? But you are worried about traffic being caused by buses which come every hour? LMFAO, you are out of touch.
