You guys spend so much time in the washing machine and make it look like nothing! Mad respect! Love the duck diving shots! You were hardly losing anything and that was heavy water! Those waves just would not stand up and hollow out! Thanks for sharing your craft is such a beautiful way!
One of the coolest parts of the nose cam imo is getting to see the duck dive form, especially with how quick Nate gets down to the board when those things are crashing just over top of it!
That duckdive at 1:38 is beyond crazy! Making it look like 2ft anywhere rather than a gnarly North Shore sandbank! so sick ..or is it Rockpiles? It's that secret pocket just in front of the whitewater explosion eight?
Nathan riding those big waves reminds me of a bull rider having fun. JJF riding them same waves looks like he’s bullying the bull while having fun doing it….if that makes sense. Florence bros are all 🔥🤙🏽
For me, a low tier average Joe who prays that there is nobody behind me when a 6 feet soft wave is coming, that s amazing to see how skilled you are..!
I love this video. I used to be so insistent, like "I'm gonna duck dive this, no matter what!" It got to a limit when I was out at Middle Peak lefts. Big set, peak shifting West (you think North, but it's West, toward Its or Mitchells) catches me right in the zone, snapping an 8' 6" Steve Colletta pintail with a quarter-inch stringer right in my hands, and just punches me down through the deck of my board. The ones that shift West break further out. The same size wave shifting East towards the wharf are the big ones that march way inside before breaking. Anyway that's how you waste a beautiful 8' 6". Colletta boards were insane. I can't surf anymore cause of old injuries so videos are it for me.
This is why I watch, seeing the best in their natural environment. Loved the duck diving and would appreciate more underwater footage, how the reef forces the waves, fins slicing through the wave. Would rather watch that than talking heads inside or on the beach Thanks for the videos , appreciate your commitment Nate, what about putting a camera under the board?
I wish I could duck dive like you. I feel like I get down as deep, but take three steps backwards, and you take one step forward. I need to rewatch your duck dive 101 vids
Seriously. Nathan turns into a submarine every duck dive and somehow moves forward like 10 feet where most people get sucked back a few lol. Ridiculous athleticism.
Looks like one of those extra special sessions. You really should value time spent with family in these circumstances. These become cherished memories as you get older. Freeze frame @5:45, extraordinary shot. Kudos to the cameraman!
it's so simple but how amazing and quick it is to identify john john's steez, as a human who's not surfed in 20 years, i'm always blown away by his style. Not to dog on Nathan, i'd love to see him rock his brother.
Well Ehukai and all its other waves (they are mostly pretty close) are right out the front so it's no wonder you can ride them well. It's been a good year too hasn't it.
It's funny how Hawaii waves have a different shape and color than anywhere else in the world. They're powerful, hard to duckdive, and the currents are chaotic.
It did make the score that much better, i dont like surfing dangerous waves on equipment i am unsure of, but forcing it to work and getting a good one was actually awesome! I did enjoy it!
Hey bro!!! I'm coming to Hawaii next month,,& ive yet to surf an ocean wave, Lake Michigan is frozen and I can't surf here, u wana show me a few spots?!?!?! Help me get barreled? I'll put u in my vid 🤪🌊💨lmk!!
2:15😂 for anyone that never has... Had to duck dive... That's what it is 🌊 what It is 🥴 The only hope to get out is to keep paddling and paddling and paddling 😅
Remember the bottom turn photos of Tom Carrol from this spot? I was getting mowed by the same size waves as this, while I watched TC on the Left. That end pinch is a bitch. 🤣❤🤙🏼🏴☠
