My girlfriend and I are both 65. We are both extremely active with hiking, biking, kayaking, swimming and weight training. Neither of us have any health issues, nor do we take any medications. Our sex life is beyond amazing! Without your health you have nothing. That would certainly apply to a good sex life as well.

I am 64 and my wife is 67. Thanks to HRT for both of us and PDE 5 inhibitors for me, as needed, we have actually been having more sex and enjoying it as much or more than we used to...and we have been together for over 41 years. We made a choice to actively try to keep our sexuality as we age, and although we still occasionally have some issues, we are both very satisfied with our sex and plan to continue as long as possible, as frequently as 3-4 times (or more, even) per week. GREAT topic and an excellent video as always. Thank you Dr. Malik! 😊

Sex in our older years is heavily leveraged by having a willing partner. Too many women seem to think having sex ended with menopause. If they are married they unilaterally terminate their husband's sex life, leaving the husband to make a choice, maintain sexless fidelity and stay married or go outside the marriage for what they want or need, risking divorce over a situation they didn't create. Those wives don't seem to care they cause tremendous levels of anger and resentment from their husbands, men who spent many years dedicated to supporting and assuring the well being of their wives.

In other words, it's the women's fault! Got it! Perhaps, as the Dr. Malik mentioned, talk, communicate! It isn't one sided and it is NOT one persons fault. Would you enjoy having sex when it HURTS? Doubt it but then again, as long as your needs are met, you will stick around instead of taking the time to talk it out so you know, the support continues.

So true. I thought it was my fault. I got tested and had low T. At 50 got on therapy and started feeling amazing all around. I realized after that some partners just want to blame someone when they’re causing the lack of intimacy. Haven’t been intimate since and I’m almost 60.

Hi Dr. Malik i have been watching all your videos here and subscribed long ago and wanted to say both age and sex can be strange. I am now 71 and living in the Philippines retired from the US Army and over the many years I have almost died at least 10 times but I am still alive. I now live life to its fullest each day and have 3 girlfriends and my regular massage girl that I see at least once a week for a great whole body massage including happy ending. I dont care what others think of me I just live the way I want now and my family back in the US think I am an old crazy fart but it was them that left me all alone 30 years ago. That is about the size of it. What the good doctor doesn't realize is that there has to be a sexual attraction in the first place, there has to be a vaginal mitt that can get lubricated or moist for traction, and that the male member can respond on the spur of the moment to same-old, same-old partner. There are so many variables here, that her advice tends to come across as sophomoric and naive. I am still looking for that older woman near and far that is an age peer and who is attractive enough to stimulate me to rise to an occasion should one present itself. We would love to be active over age 70, but the circumstances make it more difficult than ever.

You've got certified medical professionals on here touting sexual activity, porn viewing, and citing legit medical reasons, very credible info, yet many folk lose their spouses, have no outlet for sex, have biological needs, etc. And yes, the issue impacts more than senior citizens..... And....yet society incriminates or condemns sexual content viewing, massage therapy, surrogate therapy, and attempts at locating girlfriends, boyfriends, dates, and significant others via online sites, ad replies, etc. There are double and triple standards going on here, and these porn star urologists aren't helping things. They should be activists, leading the charge for reformation or abolition of some "non-victim" criminal sex laws, and not rely on prostitutes to lead the charge.

Great topic, this video, would love to hear more on it. Not enough talk about the positive stories about sex in later years. Just coming up on 50 and in peri menopause, my Dr ran my labs and they caught me and found my Progesterone and testosterone were both low. Im on low doses now of both, Bio identical hormones, and all the sudden I have a libido I have never had in my life and my husband was low libido already. Went from once every other wk to almost daily, sometimes more then once a day, its incredible. Husband is now on testosterone and we are in sync with a high sex drive after almost 20 yrs together, its truly miraculous.

Sex is a very delicate issue in each age; a good sexuality depends on many factors. I’m 70 and if you believe it or not my sexuality has never been so good but you’ve to be careful in many circumstances such as food and drinks, weight and fisical exercises , follow a low carb diet, avoid food rich in estrogen ,eat eggs every day, don’t worry about cholesterol, take boron as supplement and many other factors. But don’t think to have good sex with your old wife! I know to be crude but it’s true, to have a good sex is extremely important have a special partner who deeply loves to make sex, no matter how old she is, even better old than young. Yes menopause is the worst thing for a marriage. My wife stopped having sex with me over 10 years ago and has for many years put me in a deep depression. Thankfully i watch porn in my bedroom (yeah menopause caused different bedrooms too). It makes for a healthy sex life. Since we're both retired we own a house together, selling it would make us both homeless so we treat each others as room mates. I am lucky to have a great relationship with God. I'm a healthy male and am 74 years of age. I continue to work because we all need a purpose and need to feel productive. I have been dating younger women for a while now and honestly Most of the time find it a great experience. Once in a while I look in the mirror and realize I am older. That being said the vast majority of the time I feel a lot younger than I am and simply put I go with it. I do not want to hop from woman to woman and we need to be pals first and foremost. I love that part the best in a way but should we get really close and she initiates her desire to become intimate I'm fine with that part too. It's been a while now that I've been seeing a sweetheart of a woman and she's turning 40 next year. She's never married ( I was married for 25 years). We just honestly get along and neither one of us pushed anything on the other.

I'll put a different spin on this subject. I'm a 67 year old male. I divorced my ex after 28 years of marriage in 2016. I wasn't looking or expecting to get married again at this age. But the Covid scare shook and shut down the world. I met someone on the internet (Facebook)....I wasn't really looking or expecting anything to happen, but after chatting online for two years I got on an airplane to see her and while I was there, we got married. Here comes the spin... I live in the U.S. She lives in the Philippines. She is 27. While age gap marriages do sometime occur in the U.S. the acceptance is greater in the Philippines. I've seen instances of 50 year age gap marriages !! The culture is different in the Philippines than it is in the U.S. Families are much larger and closer often with several married siblings and their children living in the same house. Parents are respected and taken care of by their adult children. Often the parents and their married kids live in the same household. The is no divorce in the Philippines. There is a huge demand by some Philippines women to marry foreigners. Statistically, the divorce rate is very low between Philippine women and their foreign husbands. Philippine women are very family oriented. They are also very beautiful. English is the second language in the Philippines. Tagalog is the primary native language but English is used in government and business transactions. There are many RU-vids that describe the Philippine culture, Philippine women / sex / culture. Let's be realistic about this. For most of us older couples our comfort zones are well established and very difficult to look outside of it for new things. Communication without judgment is helpful. Discussing sexual desires and ideas make us vulnerable. I know that I don't wish to talk because of the fear; yes, even after 40+ years of marriage. I'll go without before I'll talk with my wife.

I can understand your feelings here, as I'm in a similar situation. She doesn't want to talk about it, and she's as grumpy as can be with me, belittling me, which then has me feeling depressed. After her dealing with cancer on more than one occasion, I support her in feeling as she does, but it's truly changed our relationship. I'm 72. Sexual function is not a problem. Diminished a bit but not a problem. With an enlarged prostate, my daily challenge is simply peeing but the sexual function does not require any planning or forethought at all. It matters very much that I work out at a CrossFit class for seniors 3x per week. That's the difference. For what it's worth.

I'm 68 and my wife is 71. We make love almost everyday, sometimes twice a day. We enjoy it immensely and of course, the more we do it the more we want to keep going. Sex is the glue that keeps us bonded, even when the going gets tough. The fact that my wife is very attractive to me and that we are quite fit for our age, helps a lot.

I had a prostate operation in 2005 (TURP) when I was 53. The immediate effect was retrograde ejaculation which I thought might be a good thing but gave me a feeling of incomplete sex. A little later prostate cancer was diagnosed for which I had radiotherapy. This eventually gave me sharp pains after orgasm - a kind of dysorgasmia. Over the following years I developed Peyronie's disease, loss of libido and then finally impotence. I have high blood pressure and suffer with migraines so I didn't try Viagra and also thought it removed any spontaneity. Now, at 70, I can't remember the last time I had sex and my sex life is dead. I mourn for that life and your videos remind me of "the good old days".

I'm not old...yet...but mid-aged. I was always a bit 'put-off' by movies, magazines and erotica always glorifying younger (early 20's or even younger) people as the only ones having sex. We are sexual beings, and I think both Hollywood and "Madison Ave" marketing have tried to brainwash many people to believe that only 14 through 34 year olds have sex and when I have seen a couple of older love scenes on film, i.e., "The Note Book" (James Garner and Gena Rowlands) and "The Bridges of Madison County" (Meryl Streep and Clinton Eastwood) I have been pleasantly surprised. My younger viewing friends have had a "ick" part in their disdain for the scenes of older folkes, but that shows how far we still need to go.

After reading these comments, I feel so lucky. I am 76 and my Lady is 75 and we are having the best sex of our lives. Both of us had long periods of little or no sex with our mates. We have now been together almost 9 years........best years of our lives. Neither of us have any major health problems(thanks to good genes) and both of us have high libidos. I think we were made for each other at this time in our lives. I know LOVE has a lot to do with our relationship. And respect and conversation! And laughter.

When I was a kid, I considered 40 to be “old age”. I calculated what age I would be in the year 2000, and wondered if I would still be alive at age 46. At age 68, I do not consider 65 to be the cut-off for “old age”. I am a physician (cardiologist). I would never refer to any of my patients over age 65 to be in the category of “old age”. I suggest that you adjust your terminology.

You hit the nail on the head. Sexual health is vital. Avoiding loneliness is important, however, I wish you'd explain the value of sex therapists/surrogates. Let's face it, no sense being lonely where there is help available -- it's eliminating the stigma that's important. As far as families and support as we age, you should consider that adult children are not really receptive to the idea of their parents being sexual beings, and as the population ages, it's even less likely that kids will provide the kind of support we've been conditioned to expect. Younoted we're all "living inside our phones" and that's nice, but it isn't tactile. As always, you educate, and I certainly appreciate it.

In my early 60's, I would on occasion, talk with women of the same age. I think they were surprised when I suggested that just because we reach a certain age, sex can continue. I think women feel that once menopause happens, sex stops. Yes, dryness, the loss of tonality in our skin and a few other things happen. But, the sensations through sexual activity, still can feel great. Use lubricants, take things slower to account for very snug fitting areas, try different and arousing undergarments. In the end, many of these women seemed to go away thinking seriously about it.

One thing is that more things "go wrong" as we age as well. Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and treatments, cardiovascular health. Some of the treatments can severely and adversely affect your ability to have sex and even have erections or vaginal lubrication. More needs to be said about both.

Sorry to hear that. You know when you where young and holding hands was the best thing ever? I can't speak for your relationship, since I don't know it, but I think holding hands is very important. It brings physical connection. Also stroking the other person / massage / resting one's hand or/and arm on them,, yknow small things. Twiddling with their hair. It could lead to sex before, maybe later in life as well. But even without it leading to sex it brings a lot to relationships I think.

I am a 70 yr old guy. I noticed that I could no longer get a erection no matter how much I wanted to. I started having problems with insomnia and weight gain. I did a little research and found that low testosterone levels could be a partial reason for both. The next time I saw my Urologist I asked to have my levels tested. My level was quite low. I was at 120. He started me on testosterone replacement injections. By doing so I wake up with morning wood something I hadn't had in some time. I crave sex now much more. I have dropped 2 pants sizes and I do not suffer with insomnia near as often as I was having.

It's proven that testosterone replacement in those with a low count is healthy providing it's supervised. I'm 51 and my testosterone is still good but as soon as it falls to a point my doctor says you need it boostered, I'm getting shots in the ass. Not just so I can keep rooting all my young herom here in Thailand but for the better of my body overall. Just hope I don't need it till I'm 60

Dear Rena, thank you for this video, I have found your videos to be very helpful and that's after 53 years of marriage! I agree with the premise that sex is good for one's physical and mental health, unfortunately it seems to be that men of my age are more interested in sex than women are, which can have a detrimental impact on the relationship, I still love my wife, but she's more like a sister now, I still want to enjoy the pleasure of sex, but I don't want an affair as that could have serious consequences, so recently I have started to consider "paying" for it.
