I like the concept. Works for all stands and tables, saves money on casters, no complicated mechanisms, easy to use and rugged. Very nice!

Hi Justin, Love your work mate 👏👏. You’ve given us a great solution here. I have a very small workshop, so everything that can be made mobile, is mobile. Your idea simplifies the problem of stabilising a mobile cart for use. I have previously put castors on all four legs, then had to fab some stabilisers that slot into the various trolleys. painfully slow to set up 🥺. Your solution is much much better. Regards Robert ( Sydney, Australia)
@JustVoss

Agreed, I like everything mobile but then I also hate the 4 casters because everything ALWAYS feels mobile haha.

Perfect timing as I’ve been exploring a new way to move some machines in my shop too. Thanks. I’ll need to tweak this concept a little, but this certainly solves my issue. 👍👍😎👍👍

Awesome! An improvement would be if it could stand on its own when not in use.

@@JustVoss - good tip 👍👍. I can imagine that disappointment once you moved the table for the first time and went “huh, where do I put the handle now 😂”. The one stand I need this for first is a 3-legged 2x72” belt sander. The back two have wheels and I imagined I could just lift up the stationary foot and roll it. Except it turns out to be a little heavier than this old man can move. 😂

Jv nice update to your art weld table. Can't wait to see what u weld up next. Hopefully new videos soon. And NASCAR videos soon?? Turned out very well there. Hopefully it works out lot better for you then before. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work jv. Design on. Fab on. Weld on. Keep making. God bless.

G’day mate, (I’ll try to keep this brief)! Made a dog kennel about 5 years ago (over engineered it of course)! Heavy as, so I made up a dolly similar (but different).Aluminium , dog leg in design with a skateboard wheel (for manoeuvrability). Works a f*#@ing treat! Workshop is the same! Everything that can have wheels has them ! Anyhoo, great work! 👍🇦🇺

I make a lot of my stuff out of recycled shopping carts I go around to the stores and ask the manager if I can have the broken ones I got a 50 x 100 shop I got carts just for grinding stuff or just for cordless tool or just for standard tools or metric tool I mod them as needed and there cheap to free works great for big shop wheels are quality metal is usually sturdy

nice one but personally I would add a 3rd raised wheel that hangs off the handle so when you lift it all 3 wheels are on the ground which will keep it level and stable when wheeling around
@JustVoss
@JustVoss 3 года назад
Honestly that was my original plan but I didn’t want to spend too much time on it and the wide capture ring makes it really stable when using it. The third wheel would be nice to be able to just let go of it and have it rest in place.

Love your videos mate. Something I've been meaning to ask for a while is you seem to weld REALLY slowly. Like you dab at about half the speed most other people do. Is that deliberate? Do you use less amps on purpose? Is this the way they do it in nascar? Has anyone else ever told you that?

Yes, it’s a bad habit especially if it’s something I’m not used to welding. Causes a large heat signature sometimes. I go through phases so it’s not always.

Why use the most expensive welding procedure you have? Mig would have been quicker, cheaper, and just as strong. And stainless is even more expensive. I understand if you were doing this for a paying job, but shop use? I don't get it.

Way too complex for something that is not omni-directional, just use rotating castors on a hinged lever. I have my 1800 pound 8x4 welding table set up that way, lift it onto the wheels and can push it any direction by myself, set it back on it's upside down trailer ball feet, adjust for level and done. same setup on my 2000 pound hydraulic finger brake.

Or just put all 4 wheels on something you’re already calling a *CART* ? I just don’t understand. This video should’ve just been called “How to make a low-profile dolly” or “I regret designing my cart this way, so now I have to make a dolly” I like your videos but... why???

hmmm I've been trying to figure out something I can do to a table I was given and its awesome but it's so freaking heavy...the top is 8'x4'x1" solid steel plate!! yes 1 inch thick solid plate!! lol I'm not sure what it weighs but I know my forklift wasn't happy trying to lift it..so I rented a larger one but I need some way to move it but also have it be solid and I tried the most heavy duty highest weight rated caster from McMaster carr and that was a fail ...any ideas???

It is interesting and fun to build your own tools. I build all my benches with the crossbars on the bottom low enough so I can pick the tables up with my pallet jack. Just another way to do it.😎
@scroungasworkshop4663
@scroungasworkshop4663 3 года назад
Hey Dan, I make custom pallets for my heavy stuff like my lathe, surface grinder and turret mill and like you use a pallet jack to shift them around. The extra height of the pallets is a bonus for me as I’m 6’ 6” and I only have to lift them less than an inch so I can move them around on my own with complete safety. I also use a trolley or cart that has a manual hydraulic lift and an old hospital patient lifter to move other things around as well. I have a video about them on my channel. Cheers Stuart 🇦🇺

Im in. Totally thefting this idea Justin, thankee! Mine of course will be exponentially more bad ass because I of course will radius the two fork legs that the axel and wheels mount in (Im more a motorcycle guy man sorry). This way Ill shave seconds off my lap times because my fork lowers wont be dragging in the ruts and such. My grips of course will be OEM Honda, and……. yup……. safety wired. In all seriousness, awesome idea, I can only hope mine looks as good as yours.

I made my welding table light with wheels, I do have a heavy duty bigger table for heavy pounding work. If I'm just welding the table don't have to be heavy. I'm glass I did make it light because I can move my table out in the sun if I want to work out side on nice days.

Great idea and execution. The only thing I think I'd change is to swap the ring and pin so the ring is on the table, and the pin is on the dolly. It seems like it would be easier to grab on to the table that way

Dont know if I heard it correct - you weld normal steel with stainless filler? Sounds interessting never heard before in Germany. Why do you use it? Esthetic reasons?
@JustVoss
@JustVoss 3 года назад
Yeah mostly looks and it lays down nice. It works really well for joining dissimilar metals like mild to molly or if you’re not quite sure what the two steels are. Obviously if you’re welding something for a job and it calls for a type of filler I wouldn’t use it. But home projects, shop equipment, art.. all day.
