Top 5: C - Wilt Chamberlain PF - Tim Duncan SF - Larry Bird SG - Michael Jordan PG - Magic Johnson With the GOAT going to Wilt Chamberlain....forget the number of records he holds by himself....the 100 point game or him shutting down Magic Johnson, James Worthy, Byron Scott, A.C. Green and Bernard King at 43 years of age..... He is the only person in human history capable of blocking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's skyhook at the apex of its shot trajectory on a regular basis at the end of his career. The most unblockable shot in human history was regularly snagged out of the air by this superhuman of an athlete.

Bird was the most complete player to ever play the game. Not one hole, and every part of his game was better than everyone else. He played at a time with the most HOF and beat the all. Even swept Jordan twice, couldn't even win one game against him in the playoffs. He looked like a man among boys. Magic is right, there will never be another Larry Bird

You really need to watch Larry Bird’s Greatest Passes Re-Edited and Larry and Magic: A Courtship of Rivals. When Larry came back into the game after fracturing his cheekbone, they didn’t mention that he had sustained a concussion and had double vision but still willed himself to bring Boston back to victory. The dude had broken his back in 85 and would have to be in traction for hours before a game to realign his spine to be able to play. Nobody was tougher than Larry Bird, especially mentally. He would eat them up in today’s marshmallow league. No painkillers EVER. He was so well conditioned he could outlast everyone.

Yeah, I mean think about all the rules the NBA has now to prevent overly physical play - flagrant fouls, automatic flagrants if you hit someone's head, players aren't allowed to leave the bench if there's an altercation on court, flagrant foul if you land in a shooter's landing space, and of course no hand checking on defense. (That famous foul where McHale took Kurt Rambis down was just a common foul - no ejection, no flagrant (didn't exist back then).) All of those rules had to be put in place...which means there was a time BEFORE those rules existed. Well, that was the 80's (and before the 80's).

Larry bird career 24-10-6 a game Founder of the 40/50/90 club . Considered by many The most clutch shooter in NBA history One stat that doesn’t show up . Bird was a savant at running down loose balls Game six of the 1986 finals bird is in a jump ball with Olajuwon of all people . I’m watching this live on TV thinking Houston is getting the ball back. Some how Bird beats Olajuwon and wins the Jump ball . There are better scorers, better rebounders , very few who were betters passers , better defenders. There has not been a better overall player than Larry Joe a Bird . He just knew how to play the game of basketball.

It is interesting to see young guys watching Bird because they have zero idea of his impact on the sport since you and others have never watched him in real time; he doesn't seek out publicity or anything, he rarely gives out interviews, keeps alow profile, etc. He was, and still is an enigma, never cared about money or fame. I have been a fan of the NBA, watched it in real time season after season, since the 1970s up until recent years (I have grown very sick and tired of the modern NBA, my least favorite era). No doubt in my mind, the 80s was the Golden Era, and at the center of that vortex was Larry Bird and Magic. And in that era, you had Kareem, MJ, Isiah and The Bad Boys, Dr. J, Barkley, etc. And yes, the 90s were great also, but the 80s had the aggressiveness, the win at all costs mentality, and pure hard physical play one does not see anymore. A Man's Game. And IMO, Bird is the best player I have ever watched, from regular season games to playoffs, and Finals, Michael Jordan a close 2nd. Some more info on the mixtape video- Bird won that 3-point contest, his last one, without taking off his warmup jacket (Jordan was back stage watching it on TV, blown away). The famous steal- it was Game 5 in the Eastern Finals, 5 seconds left, The Bad Boys (Detroit Pistons) up by one point. If the Celtics lost, it would got to game 6 in Detroit with a good possibility of the Celtics losing in 6. And of course they won, going to the Finals against the Lakers. The Atlanta Hawks bench players were actually cheering for Bird during the game, giving each other high-fives when Bird would score against their own team. Coach Mike Fratello fined those players for doing so. And when Bird came back into the game with a fractured cheek bone, he disobeyed doctors orders, he had double-vision, yet scored more points to win the game. And you're a fan of Kobe (he is one of my top 10 players), here he is listing his All Time Top Five Starters, and guess who is on his list. ru-vid.comnAstN3aVE9M

This is probably one of my favorite bird reactions. You said you were too young to know Larry but you are a Kobe fan and a LeBron fan.... both of them put Larry Bird in their dream starting five. This comment has been brought to you by a Celtics fan whose first game was age 7.

Here are some common stats between Michael Jordan and Larry Bird. The cold hard facts, stats, awards, accolades including 17 different categories are: #1) Regular Season MVP (MJ 5 Bird 3) 1 point for MJ #2) Scoring Titles (MJ 10 Bird 0) 1 point for MJ #3) Points Per Game (MJ 30.1 Bird 24.3) 1 point for MJ #4) Rebounds Per Game (10.0 Bird 6.3 MJ) 1 point for Bird #5) Assists Per Game (6.3 Bird 5.3 MJ) 1 point for Bird #6) Championships (MJ 6 Bird 3) 1 Point for MJ #7) Playoff Points Per Game (33.4 MJ 23.8 Bird) 1 point for MJ #8) Finals MVP (6 MJ 2 Bird) 1 point MJ #9) Olympic Gold Medals (MJ 2 Bird 1) 1 point for MJ #10) Dunk Contest Titles (MJ 2 Bird 0) 1 point for MJ #11) All-Star Games (MJ 14 Bird 12) 1 point for MJ #12) All Defensive (MJ 9 Bird 3) 1 point for MJ #13) Defensive Player of the Year (MJ 1987/88) 1 point for MJ #14) Rookie of the Year (MJ 1984/85 Bird 1979/80) 0 points for tie #15) Seasons Played (MJ 15 Bird 13) 1 point for MJ #16) All-Star MVP (MJ 3 Bird 1) 1 point for MJ #17) Steals Champion (MJ 3 Bird 0) 1 point for MJ This is extremely in Michael Jordan's favour vs. Larry Bird. It was much more lopsided than I originally thought. MJ dominates with the following Points Scored: (14 - 2 - 1) This wasn't even close. I hardly call this a debate. This is more of the GOAT destroying his competition.

Yes Larry did the step back along time before JHard ,and yes Jordan got some bird moves In Fact there are a lot of ppl that have a little bird in them, Mr 50-40-90 OG I think Derrick was influenced by bird cause bird was one of like 5 big time players that was there for his retirement, and made a speech, Luca opening says he watched lots of bird footage , 🐦 was different,we never seen anything like him and magic ,they kicked it up a notch no disrespect to Dr j or Russel or wilt ,but these men took it to another level and bird used that brain ,he was playing chess ♟️ and talking shit ,that was just bird 🐦💚💯🏀 thanks for all the games dad R.I.P , best childhood ever 💚🐦💯🏀
