The Past, The Future & The Present

Morgana and Kayle are the past, in the times of ancient demacia, when they were still fighting together side by side, each with one sword of their mother. Kayle gives morgana the sideeye when she uses her magic, and later they part ways and Kayle keeps both swords. The Yasuo thing depicts his death i think, as you can see the Wolves eyes in the dark as the final arrows close in on him. And tryndamere Ash is probably somewhere around the present. Tryndamere isnt actually fighting Kindred, hes fighting off the warriors that attack him, but Kindred is simply what people see in their final moments. He was supposed to die there but Ash came to save him

I like that the Yasuo "death" here is basically a redemption story. This time he is fighting for ionia where he is needed. Could not have had a better ending.

The emotion in tryndameres face at every point they show him is so effing good. It really shows you dont need words to portray whats happening

Great reaction. But I would argue, if you’ll let me, Ashe’s eyes didn’t dilate bc she wasn’t entering the light. It was light the whole time. t was only dark in Tryndamere’s mind while he was fighting off Kindred. In the beginning, when we come back to him and as soon as Ashe arrives we see it’s been light out the whole time.

Kayle's disdain is two parts. Minor part Morgana used magic in a place that is a safe haven for people from magic. Major part is Morgana shed the sword of their mother aka her divinity to use her curse magic. While Kayle idolizes their mother so heavily.

Cool reaction and very good analysis. Another nice catch ist the silhouette of lamb in Kayles fire wave around 1:39, confirming that Kindred is in all three parts of the animation.

A small correction, The Kindred is the name of both Lamb and Wolf, they are not Demacian, they are the embodiment of death, I believe each region has their own depiction of death and Lamb&Wolf is one of them. Past-Aatrox/Kayle/Morg, Present-Tryn/Ashe, Possible future-Yasuo Other than that, great reaction

I watched about ten reactions (yeah..) from people to this cinematic, and you're the first and only one who on first watch found that it was Kindred's arrow (in the yasuo scene). That's cool :)

Wolf and Kindred are not actually there for everyone, but it's very real for Tryndamere. His Pauldron is intact before the Kindred fight, but you can see Claw/drag Marks Wolf made when Ashe arrives and Kindred and Wolf have disappeared. Those aren't weapon dents, that's straight up Wolf's Claws (or Fangs, I don't see him specifically clawing his shoulder anywhere).

I really love your reaction because both scenes you mentioned that made you tear up also go straight into the feels for me. It's so beautiful to see somebody being in love with the little details and emotional bonds in the lore that are heartwarming or crushing, as it is often overlooked by many, yet so great.

You almost find the hidden kindred in kyles flames that nobody's talking about. Kindred is on every story (past, present, future and also violent, peaceful and denied death)

The whole Cinematic is based around Kindred (Lamb and Wolf). In the World of Runeterra, Kindred is essentially the grim reaper. She collects those in death. there are signs of Kindred in all 3 scenes. the Scenes are broken up into Past, Future, and Present. In the Past, Two Demi-Angels, Kayle and Morgana Defended and dealt justice in a Land that would eventually become known as Demacia. The Scene Depicts an area under siege by the Darkin Aatroxx. Darkin were originally ascendant beings but they were driven mad by the void in a war long ago. Kayle and Morgana are sisters, their Mother is an angel, and they both hold 1 half of their mother's sword. They defeat Aatrox. In the lore, Kayle is stoic and brings justice in a very cold and unemotional way, while Morgana is more affected by the plight of humans and reasons that judgement and justice can be tempered. In the scene Morgana drops her mothers weapon and taps into darker powers to fight Aatrox, you can see the disdain Kayle has for Morgana in the quick glance she gives her, even as she takes up both halves of her mothers sword and causes the firestorm. if you look closely, there is an afterimage in the fire that is Kindred. Then you go to the Future, in Ionia, where we are greeted by an Old man version of Yasuo. After he uses his whirlwind, you see many arrows in the sky coming for Yasuo, including a bright one, which appears to hit him, this is the Arrow of Kindred, claiming Yasuo. if you look in the sky, you can also see the apparent shape of a wolfs head. in the last scene, which would be considered the Present, in Frejord, you see Tryndamere, who has the power to avoid death by tapping into his rage via blood magic. He is married to Ashe, a Frostborn Tribal Leader. In the scene, Trendamere is fighting death (literally) by fighting against Kindred (the Lamb and the Wolf). Tryndamere power in game is literally to become un-killable for a short period of time. As the fight goes on, Kindred lets her bow go because Ashe has arrived, and saves Tryndamere. It's not his time to die.

This cinematic is a representation of the past present and future. At the very beginning we see Tryndamere laying on the ground and he sees a faint glimpse of kindred (this will be important later). the first battle scene is in the past in ancient Demacia (we are talking over 1000 years ago) and we see the two sisters Kayle and Morgana who together both make the aspect of basically they are both the god of justice, Morgana judges and Kayle punishes. We see Kayle and Morgana fighting Aatrox who is a darkin (darkin is a corrupted god warrior and Aatrox is the only cannonical person to kill an aspect being the aspect of war pantheon). Past them fighting I am unsure of why they are fighting each other I would assume it is part of the Darkin War which started due to the emperor of Shurima Azir dying and all the God warriors went corrupt and turned into the Darkin and they all vied for power with the two strongest being Aatrox and Xolaani. Next we see the future, a village in lonia is being attacked by what I assume to be the Shadow order and the old man who steps up is a much older Yasuo (he was in the Awaken cinematic for reference). Thus knowing its a older Yasuo and this being in the future there is a lot of unknowns and there is more questions than answers. Finally we are in the present and we return to Tryndamere, the fact that he saw a glimpse of Kindred at the start of the cinematic its no surprise he is fighting them Kindred is Lol's version of death, a lamb (the white on with a bow) for a painless death for those who embrace death and a wolf (the large black one) for a painful death to those who choose to run or fight. Since Tryndamere is fighting Kindred we know he is close to death at this point, when his eyes go red he enters "undying rage" basically he becomes so angry he cannot die. Plot twist Tryndamere is seeing Kindred and thinking he is fighting Kindred when in fact he was figthing the people who were surrounding him. Then we see 2 blue arrows fly past Kindred and we see Ashe emerge and Kindred disappear meaning Ashe saved Tryndamere from death, also side note Ashe is Tryndamere's wife. - gruta3577

To be fair I think Ashe was already in that light, it was Tryndamere who saw the darkness as he was fighting with Kindred, but once again that was not real darkness either?

I am not a league fan, but I am a lore fan, and I have been EATING from this cinematic. Kindred veing my favorite character as well and not knowing how important she was going to be in this. My god im so happy with this

you are one of the few people who actually got the Trynd and Kindred thing. I think his "ult" sort of begins when he is at death's door and his enemies in his battle stance take the form of Kindred. It's the classic Berserker trope. What really touched me is how quickly his rage subsides when he sees Ashe's face. Always shipped those two ... yeah.

I was in the stream with Necrit when we went over all this for hours. You honestly caught a ton of things alone which is super impressive.

one thing you didn't notice is that after the fight with the imaginary kindred, there was a mark from the claws/teeth of a wolf on Trindamir's shoulder pad.

I had a thought about Ashes eyes - They would constrict when entering light, but maybe they also dilate when seeing Trynd because she loves him, thus remaining the same. I know it doesn't go that deep, but if you want to be naive about it, you could just tell yourself that. :D

I pulled up the video before watching any reactions, and even then, it brought tears to my eyes. The whole message of "I'm still here," along with the theme of pushing through adversity is very significant to me. I've been through a lot over the last few years. Over the last decade, honestly (though, it was one of those 'if you put a lobster in a pot of cold water and raise the temperature, they won't notice until it is too late' kind of decades). But I've survived it and I'm moving on from all of that, and in the last year, as I've been focusing on rebuilding myself, this whole message of "I may be beaten down and tired, but I am still here despite all of that" is very much frontmost in my brain. But, apparently, this one is a fully canon cinematic from League, and it is filled to the brim with lore deep cuts. I actually watched a video from Necrit going over the lore in it. I knew... next to none of the lore going into this, but one thing is that the character with the round glowing eyes and the wolf are, fundamentally, this world's embodiment of death, and they show up in each of the three scenes. In the one with the 'valkyries,' as you called them, it doesn't step in because that great demon isn't able to die. In the middle story, you see the wolf as the arrows are flying up to come down on the samurai character (who is the guy with the wind powers, just decades later than the in-game present), and the one that comes straight for him is the same kind of glowing arrow that we see the death archer firing in the last scene, implying that this is his death years later. Most interestingly, the scene implies that he's at a point in life where he has forsaken killing - none of the bandits that he fights are killed. Even the leader, who he blasts with the wind... it seems as though he is knocking him away from the rain of arrows. And the last scene is a character... having a kind of near-death experience, with some of the implications being that he isn't actually fighting death, but rather the warriors who were surrounding him in the first place. Phenomenal storytelling all around!

Kindred is Death everywhere not just Demacia. Though Lamb/Wolf representation is Demacia/Noxus/Freljord continent and looks different in the others. Which does imply that Yasuo scene might be happening in Freljord or Noxus even. Though they may have just stuck with Wolf as a depiction the fan base would be familiar with. Also Aatrox wants to truly die and end but can't which is why he wants to destroy everything to end it all. So the fact there is a Shadow of Kindred as Lamb in the final frame of the fire when he gets disintegrated just standing there not doing anything is practically a taunt for Aatrox's view. Kindred main character of "Still Here" confirmed.

I still can't with how Tryn's eyes soften as he notices that Ashe is on the way.

Ashes eyes done dilate because she was already in the Light. That light is showing hope and life brought about by her saving tryndamere. The darkness was part of the fight against death itself, that's why the area lightens up when her arrows fly in.

I don't think Kindred being there in the last scene is just symbolic she's actually there. In your final moments no matter what the actual danger is you see Kindred in its place after all if it's meant to be the moment of your death so you aren't fighting any single threat you're fighting death itself. That said it seems to be more than just that. If you look after the fight his armor has marks from wolf on it still so clearly the fight was real and perhaps he's subconsciously fighting both the soldiers and kindred at the same time. Either way it's a really cool idea that he encounters Kindred whenever he ults.

4:06 As I interpret it, the arrow is the hawkshot, that Ashe shoots out in the final scene with Tryndamere. I think it's suppose to represent the accurate timelines presented in the cinematic. This is just a shot in the dark, but perhaps you can argue that the hawkshot is representing what is about to happen in the future. It even makes some sense in terms of gameplay. Hawkshot is a tool to predict future events (ganks etc.). The Yasuo scene is clearly in the future so it also makes sense from a symbolic perspective.

I love the head tilt from Lamb Kindred after Tryndamere activated undying rage, not dying and coming so close to her. She was truly intrigued/confused by Tryndamere. Also love when Kindred lowers her bow once Ashe's arrows begin to fly as Kindred knows Tryndamere is surviving the fight despite undying rage nearing ending at that point. Fun fact here, Tryndamere experienced the death realm fighting Kindred but in reality he was fighting the Winter's Claw marauders that were there at the beginning. Evidence is armor damage is present outside the realm and all the marauders that were around Tryndamere at the beginning are dead but Ashe only shot two of them.

Kindred is death and they look like this, because there is a folk tale that death split himself in two and lamb and wolf were created. Because of this tale people on the main continent think of death this way, but on other parts of the runterra world people do not see and experience death this way. So kindred only belongs to a region in the sense of perception

ok there's one small thing I wanna add it's that yes, Aatrox may have been incinerated but it's like Tuesday for him you can see the core near the hilt of his blade is still intact despite his body being destroyed so he's still alive, in fact, he constantly switch his hosts around during his many battles so it wasn't a big deal for him since he had a whole army of soldiers behind him to possess again it could also be that he was limit testing/recognized the potential danger of Kayle's power so he threw away his real body (the sword) which resulted in the shattering of his possessed body

Just a funny thought. now that riot has said arcane is cannon. That should mean Vander and Silco shaw kindred in their final moments. just imagine that. silco didnt see jinx shoot him he shaw kindred. For vander he did kinda die. so he shaw kindred aswell but since "SPOILERS" He is most likely gonna be warwick.. most likely that means wolf sould be hunting him nonestop since he kinda did defy death and hasent accepted it but dosent continually do it like trynd. This is hella far fetched. but what if the reason vander got turned into a wolf/lycan is because he shaw wolf in his last moments or even more unlikely but he is a vessel for a part of wolf or got influenced?

I still believe Awaken is the best lol cinematic (for me ofc), still gives me goosebumps to this day. The visuals and the song are just a perfect match. Not taking anything from The Call and Still Here, both are masterpieces. Congrats to all involved in the cinematics (story, cinematic, sound effects, song) they know how to make a banger.

18:02 everyone makes this mistake and i want to clarify this. Everyone thinks that Kindred is Lamb, but Kindred are both Lamb and Wolf, so there is no Kindred and Wolf, there is Lamb and Wolf or just Kindred. "But to this day, Lamb and Wolf remain together, and they are always Kindred."

Kayle / Morgana / AAtrox = The past (confirmed on an article) the lore of Kayle and Morgana will maybe be changed to add this conflict with AAtrox (With the lamb of Kindred on the flames) Yasuo = The future of Yasuo (an example like they said of what it could be for Yasuo), you can see the Wolf of Kindred in the forest (cuz Yasuo accepting his deaht maybe) Tryndamere = The present fighting some clans in Frejlord (Fighting to survive but he sees Kindred because he thinks he would die soon but saved by his wife Ashe). Some of this have been confirmed for some lore / update skin (Yasuo Old man new skin) / Preparation for the new MMORPG Just a reminder that Kindred is just a reflection of death, she is not real, just an image of what could be death (the Lamb for the sweet death if your accept your death, Wolf for the most rough one if you try to run away)

For those who need context: -This whole cinematic is about Kindred.He/she is not angel of death. Kindred (lamb and wolf) is the visual form (apperance) of death. If you accept death, Lamb (the pale one) gives you a swift release with her arrow. If you avoid it, Wolf (the dark one) will hunt you down and make it more painful -The first scene is in the past somewhere around Damacia. Where the two patron sisters fight Aatrox the darkin. Darkin are akin to demon, they possess an host. In the current lore the sisters do not talk anymore because of their vastly different view on justice. Kindred is always present for a death. So when Kayle (the blonde one) burns it all down. Killing the host of Aatrox, the shape can be seen in the flame -The second is a possible future where Noxus successfully invaded Ionia. Yasuo is trying to save a few people and then dies. You can see wolf eyes in the treeline and Lamb arrow finish him off. You can see he accepts his faith because he looks up for a fraction of a second (Noticing Lamb's arrow) and makes sure to finish off the last guy before kneeling. -The last if Tryndamere in the present state of the lore. He has some of Aatrox blood and a rage so great every time he comes close to dying he pushes it away. Hence why he is fighting Kindred, fighting death. His wife Ashes comes to save him at the end but lamb will come back eventually. -The "I'm still here" is not so much the heroes it is Kindred themselves because death is inevitable. ADDITIONAL INFO; the hero fighting Kindred in the snowy fields is Tryndamere, and his eyes go red because in the game his ultimate ability is a bloodfrenzied fury (in the lore they let it be understood as some kind of infection from Aatrox's blood magic), which makes him literally unkillable for a short amount of seconds, making him the only human capable of fending off death, therefore the only human who can survive a direct encounter with Kindred.

The whole Cinematic is following Kindred in 3 distinctive parts. The Kayle & Morgana part with Aatrox is the distant past before Demacia had Petracite, Kayle isn't using both swords yet this I think is the 1st time she's using both halves of their mother's sword! Kindred really showed up in every scene... 1st, when Trynda is in the ground, he saw a sillhoutte ( its ASHE in the last part ) but the stance is similar to Kindred. 2nd, Aatrox when got burned, theres also a Kindred sillhoutte in the frame. 3rd, is the wolf that youve seen 4th is just Trynda literally fighting Kindred but youll see when Ashe shows up , Kindred was like in front on Ashe ( buts its really in death realm vs ashe in reality )

Past, Present, Future. Kayle, Morgana vs Aatrox = Past Tryndamare, Ashe vs Kindred = Present Yasuo "death" = "Possible" future.

I have a theory… maybe Tryndamere wasn’t hallucinating when fighting Kindred. ⬇️ One theory is pretty self explanatory, Tryndamere didn’t actually see Kindred and we were only seeing Kindreds point of view through the fight representing the force of death. The second theory is since Tryndamere was imbued with darkin blood Tryndamere did actually see Kindred. Darkin blood is a corruption of the Ascended which could theoretically still channel celestial magic/energy and make connection to other celestial entities. Considering Kindred is a Spirit God it’s possible the Tryndamere was seeing and fighting an incarnation of death while being present in the natural world. When Ashe arrived Tryndamere was relieved as a sign that Kindred wouldn’t take his life that day. Bonus: Tryndamere wasn’t looking at Ashe in the beginning, it was the Lamb. When Ashe saved Tryndamere’s life she came from the woods to the right of the sun light. When Tryndamere saw the Lamb it was directly in the sunlight

Kayle/Morgana scene was about 1000 years before the Tryndamere scene. It was ancient Demacia. They had past, present, and future in the cinematic. Tryn is the present. Kayle/Morg is past, that is why Morg has the sword. Yasuo is future.

Ashe didnt enter light, it was already light, we are just seeing the world as Trynd sees it during undying rage, the fog/darkness/kindred are all his brink of death interpretation of the fight he's in. The pauldron Trynd is wearing is the only thing that is left of Kindred, but even those can be explained as damage left by weapons.

Kindread isn’t only Demacia, she along with the other reapers are the concept of death the reason kindred is so strong is because she is the most popular, most world wide believed in but for others such as the shadow isles reaper who is more frog like he is restricted to shadow isle since when it was the blessed isles that is who they believed in the most. Some in Ionia believe in kindred and some believe in another reaper called I believe the Fading Icon.

Fun fact, old man Yasuo doesn't kill a single person in that scene. He is so done with killing at this point and does not want to pick up the sword but realizes he has to if he wants to protect these people. He still controls his wind abilities so precise that he knocks everyone down/out. No blood is drawn. He uses his tornado on the last guy to push him out of the oncoming rain of arrows to save them and then instead of wind walling the rain of arrows just closes his eyes embracing his death.

Sorry for the litany of comments. I just loved this cinematic and all the lore in it. Your reaction warranted my caring to comment too. Ashe's face was less animated than everyone else's. Some theories are she was the last one worked on and they hit crunch time.

Kindred is only visible to those whose deaths are near. Others cannot see her as she only shows to people who are going to die. Morg and Kayle are the past. It’s them fighting attrox during the dark in war before morgana laid her sword down and turned dark. As you see when she sues her binding ultimate. That’s why kayle picks the sword up and looks at morg with distain. Yasuo is future. Kindred told yasuo basically in other words that one day you’ll fight one more time and pick up your sword and then I’ll be there. When he threw the tornado he looked and saw wolf shadow in the trees. He knew kindred was there so he looked down knowing his fate and as you saw he accepted kindreds arrow. Tryn is present. He is dying and enter into his undying rage blood magic to where he cannot be killed. Kindred shows herself to him basically like you said fighting as if she was the people. Kindred lowers her bow because Ashes arrows save him taking out the ones behind him and he isn’t stabbed in the back. She can’t see kindred because kindred only shows to those who are going to die.

Important to mention that Kayle and Morgana has the same wings. The difference is Morgana's top wings didn't mature implying she didn't went the same oath as Kayle.

The entire cinematic is about death or Kindred. Kindred isnt just demacian also. In the Fire after Aatrox is destroyed you see kindred in the smoke because even though hes incinerated he cant die, hes immortal, so Kindred can never collect him. The scene with Yassuo is two things. First off it is his true death, its how he will die and how he honestly deserves to die. However, its the future, its a vision granted to Yassuo by kindred showing him his fate. Not because Kindred wants him to change it, you cant change fate in this universe as depicted by Zilean being unable to manipulate timelines. Tryndameres fight you got spot on. Lamb and Wolf are not real to anyone else except him. Each blow delivered by Wolf and Lamb are blows in the real world which you can see when wolf claws his shoulder pad and its still damaged outside the death realm.

Of course her eyes looked different than other humans. She’s the descendant of Avarosa (Lissandra’s sister)

Kindered isn't actually there in a physical sense, as she represents death (If she is then this has been implied heavily all the time and would be messed up to say that she IS there), so it is safe to think that everytime Tryndamere attacks wolf, he is killing one of his assailants, as if you remember he was surrounded at the beginning of the cinematic, and when Ashe arrives she kills the last two. Wolf's painful death in this case is a brutal strike from the group probably, I am guessing Tryndamere sees her though, as he is the one on the brink, and in most cases nobody escapes them, if Kindred is there you are supposed to die, unless something strange would cause you to be unable to be killed.

I dont think its right to say Kayle is an asshole. She is Justice and absolute justice doesnt look at things from the view of compassion. When your guilty your guilty and circumstances leading to your guilt have no place. Thats why I love Morgana so much. She see's retribution where Kayle is blind to it. I dont think Kayle does anything beyond what justice dictates needs to be done. The part when Kayle side eyes Morganna makes me think she's disapproving that Morganna is using magic in a place where the people went to escape it. Morgana's reasons are good but Kayle would not see it that way. She would see her as doing something wrong and disapprove of it.
