Nice informative video! One interesting thing to take note of the Fortuner is that its manual mode & paddle shifters work differently than other cars. The gear number displayed in the information display is actually just a limit of until what gear the transmission can change gear to. For example, the display might say "S6" but the car is free to shift from 1st to 6th gear. If it's in "S4" then it is free to shift ftom 1st to 4th gear. That is why sometimes you cannot feel the downshift because the car may already be in the lower gear. Example, the gear is "S6" but you are doing 80km/h, the car is already in 5th gear, so flicking the minus paddle does not make you feel anything since it is already there. Unlike other cars, like the Montero Sport, whatever number is in the information display is the actual gear you are currently in, and it holds that gear as much as it can. You can notice that at stop, you can only choose between "1" and "2" in the Montero manual mode, while in the Fortuner, it immediately defaults to "S4" and you can put it all the way to "S6" or "S5" even at a full stop.
Exactly sir! I did notice that as well. Glad you were able to observe that too. And yes, the montero does give more control to the driver despite having an automatic transmission. Its always nice to be analytic when driving the cars ☺️
Very good informative Video sir! I found your video on my suggestion youtube My Family use both of them 2019 Montero Sport Dakar & 2017 Fortuner Vrz model in here (Indonesia) one thing i note from this fortuner the manual mode and paddle shift works differently from montero sport, gear number in speedometer actually it's just a limit until the what gear transmission can change. maybe this is sometimes you cant feel the gear downshifting because its already be in low gear, it have same characteristic like our 2017 Innova in manual mode. for me montero does give more control to driver in manual mode Anyway nice video and fortuner, you got new subscriber from Indonesia sir! 😄
I always find the current fortuner better looking than the current montero but mostly because i'm still not a fan of the latter's teardrop design tail lights. And for the facelift model, it's still there unfortunately.
Hi sir, as a person who likes to drive fast and likes a car that can push hard, I really like the montero. I want to go for speed and performance. Of course it’s still your preference. If you’d like durability and a real SUV feel, go for the Fortuner.
Advantage ng Montero is Speed & Comfort. Meanwhile, sa Fortuner naman is Space & Durability?(not sure on this one though since both brands are reliable).
Petron is euro approved. I use Petron's Turbo Diesel. However, do get the best-offered fuel in whatever company you buy fuel from. Honestly, what matters is the quality of the fuel you load in your vehicle. I don’t care, as much, about the fuel-saving because it always depends on what car you already have and the style of driving you to have. It's like eating, it doesn't matter how much you eat but the quality of the food you intake. Always think about what fuel quality is best for the engine. So, does it affect the life of your engine? Probably not that much. Very minimal difference but always opt of the better offer.
I believe yun power mode e inaadjust lang yun throttle response at transmission shifting db? parang built-in throttle controller kumbaga kaya parang ang kupad ng gen3 kumpara dito sa fortuner, montero mabagal sa arangkada kasi pansin ko nasa mid to high rpm yun lakas nya based sa dyno charts compared sa other suv na malakas sa arangkada low rpm pero bitin na sa mid to high rpm which is disadvantage pag overtaking in my opinion
Go for the more fuel economic car. If your aim is city driving, always go for the one that saves fuel the best. Fuel efficiency. City driving is starts and stops. I'm not familiar enough with the Highlander to exactly say which is better. However, if you DON’T care about the gas of the car, and you don’t mind spending, I think it always goes down to the type of person you are and your use for the car. If you carry more load, want a real SUV style look, carry less people, then go for the Fortuner. If you carry less load, more people, a more gentle design, a softer, but sleek-ish look, then go Highlander. Depends how you'll use the car. And of course, your style preference. But for me, always go for which is more efficient on fuel.

tbh I’ve learned to love the looks of the montero from daily driving it. so I’d have to go with the montero. I did at some point hate the design of the montero as well tho
@@keyserdriveclub1781 Oh you've mentioned it in the video. Apologies, I did not finish before i asked, what damping settings was on the video? I'm currently using profender queen series but the difference between the stock was not noticeable at all. I'm starting to think to replace it to TD. By the way excellent review on the comparison.
