Am I the only one childish enough to mention the hot dog and dingleberries at 12 o'clock? I know it's on the Serica as well, but that's all I see when I look at that dial! 🤷🏻‍♂️😂 Maybe you should come out with your own watch company called "Better Late Than Never". All the watches will run an hour behind! lol The IXDAO is a decent looking watch overall. Great review as always brother!

Just picked up a black dial Selitta off ebay for a bit of a bargain. Very impressed with it so far, finishing, weight and aesthetics are spot on. Band is a bit difficult to put on initiallly but one of those things you'll figure out the technique for over time

If I was to buy it second hand, how can I tell the difference between a pt5000 and an sw200? What should I look for?

I have the V2 black dial with the Sellita movement and completely love it.

Glad to have your take on this controversial little guy. Although as with all things, the gnashing of teeth seemed to have died down regarding this watch. You know that I only buy a few watches a year, but this is definitely on “future addition” list. Thanks as always for the great review.

Just been looking and found the original brand only goes back to 2019 so I'm wondering if they did a copy and paste of an actual vintage diver made by another brand. . Anybody know?? Double twelve bezels were quite common in the 70's. This watch looks very good but I reckon it will drop a little in price. I'll keep my eye on it.

I was thinking about picking one up but then I realised something I had missed for a long time - why are there minute hashes from 40 to 60, instead of 60 to 15 or 60 to 20? That kinda does my head in! I know the Serica has that, but that doesn't make it any more normal. Strange indeed.

It seems mine is a V3... 2 lines of text and Ix&Dao Diver on the bottom. I'm considering selling mine but, then I wear it and experience that conflict we likely all have and start considering selling my (inherited) vintage Razzle collection instead... I don't really have a Razzle collection

Good review 👍 . This isn't really my cup of tea, I couldn't see what all the fuss over the Serica was about. Having seen a comparison, I must say the IXDAO is a better looking watch than the original and has less troublesome movement choices. How secure is that clasp, it looks like it could unclip if knocked?

It's not quite as nice as the Serica (size is wrong, stupid red text, needless date window) but for the price you can't complain. I'm in a quandary, I wanted to buy the Serica but the crap movement issues put me off, but I'm usually against chinese knock offs too. I'm tempted by this but I might just have to avoid both. Hmmm. My V2 arrived with a dead movement and the store ignored me as soon as I questioned them about it.

I hate the font they are using on these new versions for the date. The detail that make me just want to spend more for the real one

That's a really great looking piece, and finally the quality seems to be sorted with version 3. I wonder by how much this has affected sales numbers of the original brand. Probably now it turned out to be a strategic mistake to design a watch with no branding on the dial. This makes it particularly easy for the homage brands.

I wish the V3 kept the sterile clasp

My mind is blown that this is version 3 of a watch that feels like it just turned up yesterday. Compare that to the Swiss where you wait an entire year for the next Baselworld or Watches & Wonders, and all you get is a slightly different shade of a ceramic bezel, or a stupid meme novelty like Kermit the frog in the date window. I was really thinking about this deeply the other day and what is great about the Chinese is that they can all homage the same designs which means there's a lot of competition between Chinese factories, and competition in a free market means rapid improvement and competitive pricing. This is what we are seeing here. The problem with the Swiss now is that they all own their own designs meaning there's no competition between the Swiss factories/maisons for a particular look, so they've all gotten lazy! Not just lazy, but greedy too! The Swiss have lost me. In the last 6 months I've become a big Chinese watch fan (a bit late to the party but yeah I'm here now). I can't wait for more people to get on board with Chinese watches, and take the Swiss down a peg or three, because they seriously need it.
