I miss Disney’s old formula to structuring parade music: 1. Parade theme song in the musical style of the float’s IP 2. Music from the film 3. Maybe another song from the film 4. Bridge back to the parade theme song in the style of the IP 5. Seamless transition back to 1 Soundsational and Play Parade did this really well and it creates this cool effect of looking down the street and every performer, no matter what float or choreography, looks like they’re dancing in unison. Paint the Night went above and beyond and snuck in the Baroque Hoedown in the style of each IP too.
The formula has been updated to make the entire parade sound like a consecutive song with a defined ending and it still goes back to the classic Disney parade roots of having a consistent underlining beat. The first parade to use the new formula was magic happens.
@@pinhead35 interesting, I had a feeling magic happens had a different structure. There is that jarring tempo change between the first 3 floats (musically cohesive) and the repeating “if you just believe” theme for the last 4 floats. I’m curious why they went that route. I do still stand by the old formula, it feels like a more solid production and it led to some interesting sounds - the soundsational theme sung in jazz for Tiana, African instrumental for Lion King, in calypso for Ariel.
@@b_d15 I honestly think the tempo changes and the weird splitting they did with the tracks in Magic Happens came from a place of wanting to try something new. About a year after Magic Happens re-premiered at Disneyland they started working on a new parade for Tokyo Disneyland, Harmony in Color, which takes the old soundsational formula and mixes it with the Main Street Electrical Parade and Magic Happens to honestly create a masterpiece. The finale song “like a rainbow” fixes the mistake made with Magic Happens and uses the final 2 units in front of the finale to help with the transition into the finale song (to make the noise bleed issues go away) Better Together tried to recreate harmony in color’s formula but fell flat halfway through, almost like the music team ran out of energy
The Parade looks Worth the Wait and the Music Similar to "Disney Harmony In Color" especially during the Up portion the Tune is so Harmony In Color. But I wish they Add some more Pixar Stories like "Elemental", "Cars", "Finding Nemo/Dory", "A Bugs Life", "Ratatouille", "Brave" etc.
I think that a parade like this has a lot of potential. Something that could be added would be a float for each movie and go in order as the movies came out. This needs more floats like Nemo, wall-e or elemental. Although one thing is for sure, there are movies that are not added because they are not very popular like a good dinosaur or onward (obviously the movies that have a sequel would be a single float, only adding elements from the new movies)
I might be the outlier in these comments but I think I prefer this to Pixar Play Parade and in terms of song I prefer this to Magic Happens. It's a solid cute lil parade. I think some floats could've been bigger but overall still cutesies
@@austinjames6700 yeah these floats are pretty basic compared to the floats that we had during Pixar Play Parade. But to me, I personally wasn't a fan of the dancers costumes for that parade and I didn't like the music for that one either. I think if they had a put just a little bit more effort onto this one, added more movies, and not reuse the same pieces from the last Pixar parade it would've been even more exciting. Like I said, it's a solid cute LITTLE parade.
I’m guessing this will only be here until Aug when Pixar fest ends. If that’s so, then I’m ok with it. Something is better than nothing. Silver lining is that ppl who r waiting to watch won’t be standing in line for attractions lol. And this parade actually looks better running at night time when they had the cast member preview so that’s an easy way to make it look a bit better but with summer coming and the last showing is at 6:30 we probably won’t be able to experience it with the lighting package.
How can you like this more than Magic Happens? When MH I watched all the parades. Sadly the last 2 days before the park closed it was too wet so onto the buses characters went. I got love from some of the cast members showing a heart and pointing to me. That was cool. MH is so much fun but this new one is BORING! 😴
Why were the Turning Red characters, and Joe, face characters but not the Luca characters? It would have made the bottom half in the water even more obvious!
I love Pixar parade because I can see in video turning red in the float and I love turning red movie I will love all Disney and Pixar no matter what❤👍🏻
It seems some people like this embarrassing spectacle. Very little effort went into highlighting a creative, entertainment company. What happened, no budget? The presentation lacked visual appeal, auditory experience, character representation, and overall thematic cohesion. These are the elements that can turn a parade into a great one, leaving lasting memories for the guests.
This looks like we came up with a new Pixar parade but we're on a budget. So we will recycle some things from Pixar Play Parade and hired a bunch of dancers. 😴
I would've walked off after the Soul float from boredom. Also, speaking of the Soul float, I was super annoyed for some reason that the kids aren't even attempting to look like they're actually playing their prop instruments... This parade feels very unispired, unimaginative, and just downright boring.
The Soul unit, specifically, should have been a sophisticated jazz club scene. Not a junky school room wearing whatever clashing patchwork mess that was. And the Luca float concept looked awesome but you can barely tell they are changed under the water. The theme song of the parade doesn't remotely remind me of Pixar. Pixar has made billions of dollars just to get this junk parade and a hotel overlay in "celebration"? Ridiculous!
I love Luca and the characters are so bad man😭😭 why did they make them fur characters instead of making them face characters? The mask or head piece looks so bad it makes me sad
I feel like they should've added more balloons to the up float and they should've added more classic disney movies. Kinda boring. I know that its supposed to be pixar and stuff but still, i miss the old disney formula
Am I the only one that thinks turning red, Luca, and soul aren’t good? Why are they getting so much attention. This parade was a big flop to me. Bad music, cheap looking floats and just random dancers.
I haven’t watched turning red, but I hated Luca and thought Soul was cute, but not amazing. Pixar flopped so hard in the past 5 or so years and they’re still trying to pass trash off as diamonds. You can’t celebrate Pixar without WallE, Bugs Life, and Cars…. Disney messes up AGAIN.
I agree, I thought all three were ok but not great and it's strange to me that they seem to be getting a lot of attention as if they were smash hits. All of their releases in theaters earlier this year flopped big time
@@Showman_87I couldn’t be happier that other movies besides Up and Frozen are getting floats. They’ve had their moment now it’s time for others to get their
They would do the entire parade for press. This would be a press account vs a guest filming it. Also when Disney premieres a new parade they don't only send part of it. Disney does the entire parade.
I’m seriously trying to think of any parade across all worldwide parks throughout the years and I can’t think of one that feels so jumbled together. I can’t think of any. I can’t believe Disneyland Resort, the flagship Disney Park, is presenting this as a good product.
Magic Happens is leagues way better than this new parade. The old Pixar Play Parade was more fun than this new Pixar parade. Even the old night parade that had some Pixar characters were way better. This is lame. Let's put a new parade together but we're on a budget. This is the result. Some floats and the things that the Incredibles ride on are from the old Pixar Play Parade. That's one way to save money. 🙄
As much as I thought this was cool, it's basically just the new ones and toy story. I wish that they would finally use Wall-e in the parks. Not bad though. A lot of characters that would get all the kids excited. Thanks again for posting the whole thing
Same here, it also reminds me of when I was excited for avengers campus and its new spider man ride. I waited hours opening week only to realize that web slingers was a cheap lame clone of midway mania without the cannons. It barely lasts 2 minutes and you just flail your arms randomly at generic spider bots. You can also buy a cheap feeling wrist attachment for $30 that allows you to score more points than others. The campus itself looks good visually, but substance wise there’s nothing to do. The Dr strange show was so low budget and terrible it felt like a birthday party magician hired off of Craigslist. The worst part was the e ticket that they have been dangling in front of us like a carrot for 4+ years now yet it still hasn’t even been started on. Disney is literally working on everything but this ride that they promised us. So frustrating
@@dayoldbread1696yep sounds about right. Disney throwing together a cheap ride and making you wanna buy a $30 attachment to make extra money. Also i disagree about your statement about how AC looks visually appealing. It’s just a bunch of gray buildings and concrete with one red building and another big gray building that’s only being used to generate more revenue
@@Poison_Spider8 😂 exactly! Also sorry I didn’t mean it looked good it’s just it didn’t look absolutely terrible like I originally thought it would look. I guess it’s the fake futuristic look that influences my opinion but like you said I think they could have done way better. There’s actually leaked concept art of the original quinjet e ticket ride and also the first iteration of the land before everything got budget cut and changed, it looked so much better than the garbage we ended up getting. I just wonder why they went all out with Star Wars but not the avengers stuff in the parks.
Disappointed over Kevin as this person does is dance. In Pixar Play Parade the person walked up to people and interacted with them some. It was hilarious! Kevin also squacked. Kevin was quiet in the parade. I didn't get the extra voices coming from the Up float. I was lost.
