It’s here, the industry won’t allow the voices of realism to exist....There’s Angie Stone, Syleena Johnson, Rachelle Farrell and LaTasha Lee among others. Industry would prefer to mass produce fluff...✌🏾
You ain't never lied. This kind of talent got shoved out for garbage that I refuse to call music. Noise maybe, but this is the real music. Beautiful and soulful and all about love. This garbage they touting today as music, is at best, a pitiful attempt at sounds. No horn sections, no guitars, no drums, just noise. Sorry but this is my taste and to each his own.
It was the summer of 67, and my sister and I were visiting my Nana in Charleston, SC from New York! I heard this all summer When I returned back to New York, Momma was playing this on the stereo! I have loved Ms. Betty and her voice! I am still listening to it in 2020! It brings back so many warm memories! 💘💘
Yaaassssssssss! Me too. Something about that darned Summer of '67. Me...just graduated high school and was with the love of my life. Fifty-two years later...here we are. Two children, seven grandchildren and three businesses later.
There was a message in the music. You run to the store, buy a record and give it to the person the message is for and they KNEW your feelings. TODAY you'll get SMACKED!!! 🙄
First heard in the spring of '67 when I graduated high school back in 1967 in DC at 17. Still love it!!!! Nostalgia is a "b". Why am I getting choked up just reminiscing?????? Was "going with" my first and only boyfriend who is now my husband of 52 years. LOL (tears) but smiling. How crazy is that? Maybe it's the wine (Pinot Grigio)...yaasssss! LOL
One of my favorite songs. Never forgot it as a child of 11 years old. My mom kept these songs playing. I thank GOD for my momma. She made all these songs possible for us. Songs of a life time and beyond. Thanks mom and all the artists. Wouldn't be possible without y'all. My daughters listen to them too!! Simply marvelous!!
The beautiful natural unforced voice of Bettye Swann! She's one of a small elite class of singers who can't do a song badly! My two compilation cds of hers are my most valued cds.
sorry to be so offtopic but does anybody know a method to get back into an instagram account?? I stupidly forgot the account password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me

Any time I decide to go back and listen to this music of this era, there's always a bitter sweet. I always end up with tears, wonderful memories and sadness. But all in all, I love it. It was the best of ALL times of my LIFE. Thanks for my era! ❤️

Here in 2022 i am still listening to this song, when real music said the words to that special someone you might no be able to put into words how i miss those days.
I am listening pure unadulterated song. It certainly doesn't get better, lyrics and music resonate to true romance. The heart appleas and the lips reveal a reality that some of us live and what all of us want
Back in the day when my Dad (of blessed memory) will play this music every Saturday as early as 5:30am in the morning. Can't stop thinking of him on hearing this wonderful music.
Love this beautiful Louisiana girl not only because she can sing she comes from a large family of 13 brothers and sisters can you imagine that and she's a star Bettye Swann
I got to see a copy to Cell from Tom Smith who is in service we came out so would have to get one down I would not have time if this is doing now to see them in 50 years wonderful guy
Darnell Webb I think I can I am a Mississippi boy from a family of 12 sis and bros . Bb King ,Sam cook, little Milton ,Tyrone Davis,Garlin (Garfield) Green we all came from the same neck of the woods but somebody had to stay with the mules ---- who? Me.
How sad is it that I grew up in the same small town as Betty Jean Champion and was 15 years old when this record was popular, and yet I never heard of either her or this record until this morning.
I was neighbors n went to school with her children we senior citizens now n my oldest brother still don't believe me ...speedy Tonya marketa n develin mom wow her husband was the 1st black photographer 4 channel 5 news n he also took all the children school photos 4 decades
I can thank my grandmother for introducing me to this soul gem. She would have a lot of these records playing to entertain her patrons while she did their hair. Bettye is no virtuoso soul singer, she doesn't need to be. What she does so well on this song is make us feel the sheer joy of finding love and knowing that it's right. And that's what makes this record so irresistible.
I wish I would have listened to Bettye in the 60s and 70s, but I feel so lucky that posting classics such as this allows you to still enjoy such wonderful songs
Love This! For 51 years, He made me his baby. Make me yours was a HIT in the 60’s. Thanks Betty Swann! This song can be a testimony for many women! How many agree?😍👌🌹🌹🌹Lois Carter
Old school song! (Make Me Yours) One of the songs back in the day I use to sing on the talent show.Yes! Bless to actually meet Betty Swan in person.(Very humble and I am honored she took the time too have a conversation with me.(God is so good)Love her singing and performance on stage....💃💿🎼🎹🎤🔥🌟👍❤
I still perform from time to time and we feature this song sung by our singer Jackie. It still is one of our audiences favorite. It was a wonderful experience serving as your band leader/guitarist.
....."love me baby and keep me by your siiiide, wherever you go, I'll go and be satisfiiiieed, yeah "....the way that she sings that part right there, is "intensely sweet ",....a straight shot to your soul, from a truly beautiful voice !! 🎤🎶🎶
there are still many making music as good as this, and on occasion even better. the saddest part is that it doesn't get played, there is too much rubbish music out there and unfortunately that's what majority listen to. only because they have had blinders on their whole lives. I really wish quality music and lyrics became popular. I saw one of the best shows of my life a couple months ago. Charles Bradley and his extraordinaires, his love and his passion filled the auditorium and it was beautiful!
Sadly Charles Bradley & Sharon Jones passed recently but both were doing great soul music. Lee Fields & The Expressions are still out there. Check 'em out!
BETTY !! YOUR SONG PUTS ME IN THE MIND OF A MAN THAT I FELL IN LOVE WITH SIX YEARS AGO. AND IT WAS JUST THE HUG I GAVE HIM. I HUGGED HIM FIRST. IT WAS A SAYDIE HAWKINS TYPE OF THING. I LOVE YOU. STILL !!!!❤❤❤
In my senior year of high school, this was a big hit. On the radio, at dances, in living rooms, Bettye Swann was there. Thanks for the post and a trip into my past...
Have you ever been in love with someone you know you can't have; but you can't stop thinking about him, wanting him ... . Divorced for years. . Love him still. Don't say get over it... Tried to.. Don't say . . Find someone else... Did that. Nothing has worked .Pray.. That helped me keep my sanity; but it has not stopped the love.
Truly, life has seen real legends pass by. This was and remains Beautiful chart buster of all times! It really takes me back to times I was quite very young and swing danced with my other young school mates after school every day. Great Betty!!
My Dad and I took our summer trip to Mississippi- he played this song like 100 times! I had my ear buds in cracking up 🤣…. He was singing real high lol… Gettem Daddy! I love and miss him - I’m thankful for all the great music he introduced us kids to. 🙏🏽
This absolutely beautiful song makes the hair on my keck stand to attention and gives me butterflies in my stomach everytime I have ever danced to it. It is a floor filler at any Northern Soul Event in the UK - We simply Love this Fabulous Singer.
This brings back memories from the 1960s. One of most remancing song of all times. In 1965 when I first heard this song in was in elementary school in love with this girl in the 4th grade at Vaughn Street Elementary in Pacoima California! LA COUNTY. Back then! We use call it puppy love.
Thank God, for that music it got a lot of Families together with good cooking just Love, thank God for the Grandmothers that feed all of this generation.
