My sister was a patient there from 1956 as an 14 month old until ??? She was still there when I found her in 1970. When we found her again in 1999 she was no longer in the institution, but in disabled foster care.
Moved to Harrisburg in 2017, avid lover of this stuff. My mother spent her life as an MH/MR housing administrator. Till last year, my family and i would annually travel to Pennhurst asylum for the fun and shenanigans( all the while have been pining for a daytime tour of the campus). So imagine my surprise when my daughter and I are walking the greenbelt far one day we end up at that maintenance bldg and i said "this looks institutional" and holy crap we honestly spent hours after that perusing the state hospital campus. It is glorious, albeit deteriorating. This was a nice piece you put together, long live the campus and enjoy while you're able.
