It went into production in July 1965. Located in Bevercotes to the north of Ollerton, the colliery was, alongside Cotgrave Colliery, one of two new collieries opened in the county of Nottinghamshire in the 1960s,Safety Record Of 4 Fatalities. The colliery was sadly closed in 1993 and turned into a nature reserve. .

Why does this have a picture of Ollerton headgear being demolished part way through? Also, your Calverton video has a shot of New Hucknall in it.

White elephant pit, sunk in wrong place
@ossiejesson3148
@ossiejesson3148 Год назад
hi Mark could you tell us more about it being in the wrong place please .(I used to live near Bevercoates for a while 2008-2016 ) I also worked at Asfordby on the shaft sinking 1985-1990 that also proved to be in the "wrong place "
@markwoodland2886

Bevercotes was a white elephant / it never produced the numbers that a ‘super modern pit was supposed too’ it had Issues with oil and water and also some seams were faced with bad geological issues, research has show it should’ve been sunk over the other side of the A1
