Here it is! The first official test of the Beverly Hills Outdoor Warning System! It consists of 12 Sirens (11 Modulators and a White DSA) which were installed in 2023 and 2024 after a demonstration which I previously filmed

I was actually impressed with the volume of this siren in particular. I’m glad the city chose Federal after everything that’s been going on with siren systems nearby that were installed by another Company…
This test was only for some sirens, but there will be full tests in the near future. The second test will take place on Thursday, October 17th at approximately 10:30 am. This test will take place in coordination with the City's participation in the annual Great ShakeOut drill. All 12 sirens will be audibly tested. Following that test, the system will be tested audibly on the first Wednesday of every quarter at 1:00 pm.

The siren System recently Malfunctioned on 10/9/25 causing all 12 sirens to sound. Here is a statement from the city. Beverly Hills residents were startled on Wednesday, Oct. 9, when the city’s emergency siren system was accidentally tripped at approximately 1:45 p.m, blaring a loud warning sound throughout the city. “The city’s outdoor warning system vendor was onsite working on system setup and configuration. As part of this setup, the system was accidentally activated for a short time,” Beverly Hills public information manager Lauren Santillana said. The city recently completed installation of 12 sirens meant to alert residents in the event of a life-threatening emergency, such as a wildfire, earthquake or other natural or manmade disaster. The city contracted with engineering firm Syblon Reid to install the sirens.

Atleast you got something. Me and Edaan were at the one at La Cienega Park, and it failed. Heard the DSA at Station 3 really well though.

It’s a restored Scream Master at the Wende Museum in Culver City, CA. The housing was Re-Sized a bit during the restoration process so it looks a little odd.

Are the new sirens activated through Cellular or VHF? I can see a small Omnidirectional Antenna on the top 6th cell, or is that a lightning rod?

That I believe is a lightning rod, and believe it or not, a tech I ran into who was working on the one at Maltz park said they use DTMF instead of the standard FSK.

@@Duderocks5539 You're right! That is a lightning rod! Interesting to hear they chose DTMF over FSK. Did the tech at Maltz Park mention why Beverly Hills chose that over FSK? Like if it was cheaper to implement?

@Kyunaia I find that most municipalities at least around where I live use DTMF or two tone more commonly because it's been around for decades and the encoders are simple to program and use. I don't know jack about FSK

It’s not. The middle two active cells have 8 drivers per cell unlike the other cells, making it a 6032B. It’s actually only slightly quieter than an 8032B

The towers were designed by Minoru Yamasaki, the same architect as the World Trade Center. Look up the Century Plaza Towers in Century City

These have been installed as an additional tool to use during an emergency. Cell phones are still being used in addition to these sirens. What if someone’s phone is dead? Sell service goes out? Remember the nationwide AT&T outage a few weeks ago? And the Verizon one ironically happening today? It’s just another layer of protection.
