When I was looking for my last couple of trucks, I use VIN lookups and "car fax" type summaries to verify proper mileage. This worked with both a 2006 and a1989 truck...luckily both had at least some recorded services and/or DMV recording of mileage.
Yes, most data collecting goes back to about 2000 but prior to that there really is absolutely nothing that you can rely on as to accurate and in the last 10 to 15 years it has gotten even better
@@DavisOffRoad1 in looking for these trucks, I did come across a few who stated less than 100k miles (basically whatever it read on the 5 digit odo), but when I looked them up it there were at least some references past the stated miles...so on to the next truck :P
