I got the 770 pro first about 3 years ago and recently borrowed the 700 to try from a friend. I have replaced the pads on the 770 with Brainwavz which is also in my opinion an improvement so I did swap them from headphone to headphone so the comparison could be better made. I would say that I agree with basically everything @Nayah 9 stated as well. The volume output was very similar and didn't need to change levels between comparisons. The 700s seem like they have a more muffled treble which I think sacrifices clarity(the Brainwavz improved this). I felt that the 700 also put in bass artifacts not normally present in the music to compensate for something else; which after listening to a higher end home stereo and knowing how a song should sound is off-putting. I never considered the bass being the cause, but I understand why they would do this for use on weaker headphone amp outputs on phones, ect. The most important factor to listening to these; after about an hour of listening to the 700s the mid-range bass subtracted from the ability to hear super fine detail and actually made my ears fatigued. I cannot say I've ever had to take off the 770s because my ears and head just needed a rest; being I use them while working almost all day from home. The 700's also seemed too tight, and too heavy; the sound made my hearing fatigued and my head uncomfortable after a few hours. When switching back to the 770s the depth of sound was much easier to listen to without ear fatigue; more immersing, accurate and almost gave a feeling of relief after a few hours of using the 700s. I repeated this operation for over a week until I had to give them back. The detachable cord is not a deal breaker and to me wouldn't be worth an extra $110. To be honest all of the sound observation differences could be in part that my 770s are well broke in; whereas the 700s have only about 30 hours on them. Lastly; wanted to mention that both that I compared are 80 ohms. Something I wanted to point out about your review is that you're not exactly making a fair comparison. I've heard that there are the same sound difference comparisons from other reviews of just the 770s in different ohms. With that being said Thanks for the video as it prompted me to borrow a pair before I purchased the 700s. I'm glad I did.
i have the DT770 Pro 32 Ohms and they sound Awesome using them now over 3 years, I listen to psytrance and stuff and when i feel i need more bass i use my hip dac 2 which is aweome with the extra bass button, on the laptop i use some times a chrome bass equalizer extesion if i feel to need a little extra bass the headphones are extremly extremly clear and soft clouds havenly sounding in the highs and the bass is nice and punchy which makes me enjoy the music on another level. I love them.
I'm afraid I disagree with most of the statements in this video. I bought both the 700 Pro X and the 770 Pro 80 ohm. Here are my thoughts: - The 700 doesn't just have lower treble than the 770, it basically has no treble at all. All of the air and detail we enjoy in music, gone. Yes, the 770's treble can get a little excessive at times but it's still better than having zero treble in my opinion. - The bass response isn't equal on both models. The 700 has better sub-bass extension which is great but the mid-bass has a higher bump than on the 770 which makes kick drums annoyingly overpowered. They've replaced the treble spike of the 770 with a mid-bass spike instead. Pick your poison. - The 700 sounds a bit muffled compared to the 770. Maybe it's the new thick filter fabric they put over the drivers, but the 770 sounds a little clearer and it's not just the higher treble giving off that impression. I've heard other reports of the 700 and 900 Pro X sounding like there is a veil over the music. - The 700 has a narrower soundstage than the 770. Not by much, but noticeable. - The 700 has a much higher clamp force which makes it way less comfortable than the 770, despite having deeper earpads. And I don't have a very big head. In conclusion, I'd go for the 770 Pro as it has a clearer sound, a wider soundstage, is more comfortable and cheaper. The treble spike and lower sub-bass can easily be fixed with EQ and the 770 Pro can easily be modded to have a detachable cable (just look at a RU-vid tutorial). The 80 ohm version has just enough volume when driven by a phone but the 32 ohm version and 700 Pro X can get louder. Hope that helps some people make a more informed decision. Peace!

I agree, mostly. I also prefer the DT 770 Pro over the DT 700 Pro X (and also over the DT 770 Pro X LE). However, I didn't find the bass to be stronger on the DT 700 Pro X compared to the DT 770 Pro. It might be a tiny bit more extended in the sub-bass region, but on its upper end towards the low mids, I heard a noticeable dip: bass guitars didn't have as much body on the DT 700 Pro X. The DT 770 Pro X LE has the same characteristic, but paired with a pretty intense lower bass boost. I found the mids to be a bit more controlled on the Pro X models, no resonances at all. But not more detailed than the DT 770 Pro. And pretty recessed overall on the DT 770 Pro X LE. The DT 770 Pro have very linear and detailed mids, but they can sound a bit directed and speaker-like. Still much better than many other headphones, especially in this price range. For the treble: The DT 700 Pro X sounded the darkest, lacking air. But in the lower/mid treble, there was a narrow peak, resulting in sibilance and harshness at higher listening levels. The DT 770 Pro X LE adds back the air, it doesn't sound as veiled in the upper treble. But it still has that narrow peak and harshness. The DT 770 Pro have a similar treble energy, but they don't sound as harsh to me because the treble response is far more even. I found it to accentuate sibilance, but it doesn't add any if the treble is done well in recordings. The 80 Ohm version of the DT 770 Pro is considerably quieter, for me it's just enough for monitoring on my MOTU M4. That's why I was testing the Pro X models, which can get considerably louder. But I couldn't justify spending more for what's a downgrade in sound quality for me. I'm very happy with the old classics!
so I got the 700 pro x few months ago to pair with my m1 pro mbp and its great but spent $250+ I see the 770s are around $150 Jus wanted to watch this video see maybe its worth it to sell the 700x for the 770s and save $100.
