In this video I test the Beyma 15LX60V2 woofer. I provide objective test data along with my listening impressions. I also decide to produce a complete plan set using this woofer.

Big respect for Beyma drivers, had a bit of experience with Beyma powered PA systems and they have always sounded good to my ear. Great explanation and presentation, so clear even I could follow it!

that distortion is insane good for low end wow !!
@JosephCrowesDIYSpeakerBuilding
Yeah, ever since I got my new mic I’m discovering that bass can be low distortion too. The new 8” purifi has lower distortion than the Beyma, for the same SPL.

I use exactly this woofer model in a large MTM configuration

Hi Joseph, could you make a video this model playing please. And maybe move around with the microphone/camera to hear how it behaves.

How is a dip at the crossover region a "OK" design? Doesn't that mean the drivers are not in phase at the crossover point?
@JosephCrowesDIYSpeakerBuilding
With this particular design, having the dip sounded better than a flat response. We are only talking -4dB. The dip is caused by low pass filtering the woofer slightly lower in frequency than a textbook design, based on getting the best sound quality from the woofer itself. There are plenty of textbook flat crossover designs that sound poor because they didn’t critically listen and balance all of the attributes.

Decent performance. But the irregularities in response, aligning with impedance blips,points to several resonances, that has not been corrected during design. Looks okay for the price. Give us csds and sonograms /impulse / etc. and you will see where it's shortcoming is vs fx a TAD 160x rather clearly. Distortion is not the only thing that matter. Untreated resonances, ringing, Impedance over excursion etc. all matters and was not touched in the review. Drivers can have easily identifiable issues, while distortion measurements looks good.

I will be doing a video soon where I test outside in a better bass cabinet (No.1798) which shows excellent time domain. (Same driver)

It is defilitely not a TAD. But it does not even cost a fourth of a TAD. But it is one of only a few PA woofers that can be used in a low tuned reflex box without resorting to EQing. It doesn't have shorting rings. But it seems to have a T-pole which also helps a little in improving le(x). I use mine in 280 Liter boxes (2 drivers) tuned to ca 30 Hz resulting in a slow rolloff that is down by about 6 dB at 30 Hz. The sound is effortless and full bodied. I would not believe the 9mm x-max spec when used in a two-way combo. Its physical VC overhang is only 5.5 mm. But in my very personal opinion a woofer that is also radiating mid-range frequencies should not go over 3 mm peak excursion on a regular basis. If it does then it is underdimensioned.

Where can i get this woofer in Europe? THLP in france stopped selling Beyma. Lavoce 15WXF15.800 seem to be a very nice woofer aswell and looks to be a copy of this one but with shorting rings and even cheaper. Try it out Joseph?
