“The line between Light and Darkness is so very thin." Destiny 2 is an online first-person shooter created by Bungie, the original creators of the Halo franchise. Two cosmic forces-the Light and the Darkness-are at odds in the universe of Destiny, and the conflict has centralized in our own solar system. The gift and power of the Light has been bestowed upon humanity and manifested as Guardians, a set of chosen humans who have been resurrected and can wield the Light in the form of Arc (electricity), Solar (fire), and Void (gravity).
Beyond Light is the title theme and namesake of the fifth major expansion of Destiny 2 and begins with your Guardian answering a distress call pinpointed on the icy Jovian moon of Europa. You learn that a faction of the Eliksni, an alien race of pirates and brigands commonly known as the Fallen, has harnessed the power of the Darkness and is preparing an attack on Earth. In order to combat this threat to humanity, you are forced to commune with the Darkness itself and wield its power for your own: fight fire with fire, or, more specifically, ice with ice.
