What a disappointing TEDx talk. Just common sense phrases with no real results. Wish she had talked about actual innovation instead of just reciting platitudes.
If there us any ted talk that encapsulates the silicon valley bubble almost religious way of thinking than this had to be it. Talking about technology that connects people to people, the obvious need to have a reference from Africa to illustrate a point and of course the constant need to say "we are designing for people" like this is something new in any way? There is also a need to always point out the need for diversity but in which way is that even being achieved? It cant be diversity in thinking as all videos that come out from silicon valley sound like they come from one company... so much fluffy language in one video...
"technology is here to serve us, not the other way around." 3 minutes later: "here is a project that aims to teach underprivileged kids how to code" yeah, those kids better learn how to pump out mediocre computer programs while getting paid peanuts.
The main idea is Technology is everywhere but the main issue is how to use technology to serve ur needs so the first step coming from citizen needs not technology capabilities cuz some technology not fit or integrated with ur needs at this case we are going to serve technology not serve business needs.
