Watched them at Midalidare Rocks Festival in Bulgaria two days ago playing before Within Temptation. Jennifer had a birthday. What a great show it was. They were the hidden gem of the festival. Didn't expect they to be that good but they truly were. Jennifer's singing was incredible.

It gives me a modern vibe like Resist from Within Temptation. I hope this new album is more balanced. Horizons was a good transition album, but for me you can make a modern sound without losing weight. One does not have to live without the other. 🤓

I agree! I actually like Resist very much, with the dark, heavy, modern vibe. And I like that Beyond The Black is apparently going to a similar direction (to me, Horizons already indicated that - as you say, kind of a transition album).

That:s a nice surprise. After Horizons, I wasn't sure if I should still be interested in the band but this here sounds like a huge step in the right direction. I don't even think that it's a return to their older style because the sound is much more heavy than what we were used from the first two albums, and if that's the route they wanna go, I'm all in.

This feels a lot like an Eluveitie song. and I mean that as a high level compliment. I just love this epic fantasy vibe. previous album was more grounded in regular human struggles but this feels like epic power and folk metal mix and I absolutely love it

I'm someone who didn't like Horizons. It driftet too much in the rock-pop direction for my taste. But Reincarnation sounds so good! It sounds like a big step back to the old Beyond the Black style! I like the direction they're going in again! I'm really looking forward for the new album now 😍

I was in the same boat long time, not a surprise as ususally I listen a lot heavier stuff, but at some point "Human" song started to haunt me and I gave another try for the record. And I found few more songs that I started to like "Marching on" and "You're not alone". Still thinking she is one of the best female singers out there. Most sing with monotone voice, but she knows how to put emotions into the songs, I can name just few of these kind singers.

She is a fantastic singer, there's no doubt about that - but if you want to focus on what her strength is, or what makes her stand out from the crowd, I would say her musicianship more than her vocals. She has played many different instruments with her band, which is fun to see in the different live videos they've done. I might be biased based on the bands I listen to in this genre, but I haven't seen that hardly at all. You could say there's female-fronted bands like Evanescence and Halestorm where their singers also play, but I don't know if most people would consider them to be in the same genre. Another thing that I would credit Jennifer for, and surprisingly - it's the exact opposite of the original praise - I would credit her for creating accessible music that altos and second sopranos can sing. I mean hey, if you want to sing karaoke or do covers on RU-vid or just sing in the shower for fun, you have to admit that a lot of Beyond The Black's repertoire is more accessible to more singers than that of bands like Epica and Nightwish. I don't mean this against Epica or Nightwish, I LOVE both of them - but this is just something nice that I think BtB does. Not sure if it's intentional or not, but it's nice.

If you like Beyond the Black, I would also recommend Ad Infinitum. It's not a very well known band but I enjoy it a lot and it doesn't have the opera style singing either!

I like this number but honestly I love the combi symphonic music with those crystal clear voices some of the singers have, often with a combination of head and chest voice. Floor Jansen does that, going from head to chest sometimes in the same breath. It lifts the symphonic rock to a higher level. Yet this singer Jennifer Haben has a very uniek sound too and performs beautifully.
