When he started reading the letter a student wrote, I teared up. "People in this world who matter most are those who chose to care and make a difference... without people like you, people like me can't realize their dream." Being a pilot (and in aviation/airlines in general) is being in a community that you just can't replicate. Aviation is like love story that even some of the best filmmakers in the world can't capture the spirit of. You did so in just a 10 minute video. Best wishes to your dad in retirement. Thank you for a fantastic video.
Congratulations, Captain Steve. I have many friends that have spent their entire careers at a regional and it's no less or an accomplishment than if you had retired from United or another major. Clearly you made an impact on many airmen during your time there and you should be proud of what you have done. Enjoy your retirement.
Dude this deserves a million views. The camerawork, editing, music, narration, and especially the story itself is all just spectacular. Mad congrats to your Dad bro. He seems like an amazing dude in every aspect, and you seem like an awesome son to him. Also, the E175 is a sweet ride!!
Handsome man. As a former flight attendant, now a nurse, I still miss those days flying. I can only imagine the bittersweet thoughts going through his mind; wish him luck with a new career and making time for himself.
Pamela....I have so much respect for flight attendants. I am so sorry for the awful behavior that people in your position have to go through with unruly passengers, especially in the last couple of years.
those two pilots was a good crew, can't think dad is one day over 50, looks like he is a easy guy to have around with the smile all the time! He will keep flying
What a beautiful tribute to your Dad’s life and achievement! Blessings to you both as well as your family❤️ Thank you for sharing such a beautiful moment
Very nice job and congrats to dad. I used to fly a lot and when I see pics an old HS friend who has been a pilot posts of his "office", I have to say it has a great view.
Since this retirement video was dated 2 yes ago. I sincerely hope that the retired pilot and his family are immensely blessed and accomplishing all that they've ever wanted to. Happy New year's 2023.
Just think that some years ago, this would have happened at 60, which it would have been a shame because even at 6t, he looks like he could go for another 5. But then again, there's more life after flying. Great video. Congrats !
Im surprised that the head of the training department was involved in filming a video on a 121 flight. There's a reason why "JUST PLANES" has no episodes with US carriers. Im assuming they received special permission from their fsdo.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. John 3:18 “He that believeth in Him is not condemned; but He that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Psalm 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
Tearing up when the flight ended! Congrats to Steve for an incredible career and wishing him all the happiness in his next steps. The video quality was perfection, views from the cockpit and 30,000 ft. up are breathtaking. Your filmography is so talented! Keep it up Ty!
Such a sweet sweet film, Tyler. I loved every second. This was so well done. I wish your family years of joy as you go forward. What a joy to watch. Thanks for taking us all on this final leg.
Congratulations Captain Steve Brown! Definitely one of my favorites! I'm happy to say that I am one of the lucky ones who has known him for the full 33 years at Horizon!! First class all the way! So many years of memories!!! Enjoy your retirement!!!!! :)
I don't want to turn 65 now ;( When I get there im gonna love my job so much. But anyways congratulations on your retirement. Best of luck to you and the future.
Congratulations Steve! But why did you retire as a commuter pilot? The major airlines were each hiring 1000s of pilots a year? Why would anyone stay as a RJ pilot with 4-5 legs a day and 8-10 hour layovers?
I have 24 years remaining... Some of my friends consider it a financial failure to go all the way to 65. Personally, this is all I've ever wanted to do and they'll have to drag me out of the flight deck.
At least retired when aircraft flew pre Covid next a private plane to enjoy the world from above from the best seat in the world. Enjoy your retirement.
Final landing must've been heart-wrenching for your dad! A sweet card from the student, and nicely documented. Best wishes to the Captain. The best office in the world :)
I have no idea how I came across this video, but I enjoyed it! Was your dad with Horizon for most of his flying career? I love flying on QX!! Took my wife and kids on a Q400 to Portland on our way to Maui a few years ago. She was terrified, and worried about those spinner things outside our window!!! 😂😂😂 Anyways, I was able to convince her that Horizon has some of the best pilots, and that many move on to work for Alaska. If you don't mind answering, did your dad fly the Metro? Dornier 328? F-28? F-27? It's interesting how Horizon has transitioned in the years to being one of the safest regional airlines ever. You should be darned proud of your dad! Smooth landing, and I am sure he will still be up flying around Seattle! Happy Retirement sir! Awesome video! One last thought!! Yes, Horizon indeed flies some of the best routes. The scenery out of those offices are incredible!
Love your video!! I did a similar video a couple of months ago on my channel. It was a lot of fun being able to show everyone the cool career my dad had as an airline pilot! Congratulations to your Dad on Retirement!!
