Incase anyone ask why: That is because they were supposed to fire it whilst proning or standing behind a cover. If you hold it that way, your hand will make a makeshift bipod for the gun thus reducing its recoil, remember MP18 isnt a select fire gun, its fully auto. You arent expected to run and gun with it, the way they used it is much more simillar to how a modern Squad Automatic Weapon team do it.
Id take more players to play with tbh. There's a reason why BF1 is still popular despite its age. It still holds up, the atmosphere is accurate, the guns sound beefy, and it's still a Battlefield game that people know and love. Games like Beyond the Wire has a small base that is too small to last long.
Some errors i found: 1: The C96 reload don't have sound (bug?) 2: The M1883 is a single action revolver meaning that you need to pull the hammer back before firing not double like in game 3: Why in all that's holy the Winchester M1897 trench fires 2 shells at a time?! 4: Both the Gewehr M1898 and the M1888/05 the clip just disappear during the empty reload animation 5: Player don't put down the "ammo elevator" in the M1886 Lebel and also the random isn't chambered 6: For some reason in the Enfield M1917 a round eject even before the player open the bolt 7: Player pulls a non-existing bolt in the right side of the Lewis Gun (as far i know ambidextrous bolt for the lewis only appeared during or after ww2) 8: Both the Lewis Gun and B.A.R M1918 eject belt links even if they are magazine feed guns These are the errors i found. Overall thoughts? Beyond The Wire Weapons have very good models, animations, sounds and they even carry a true punch compare to other games. I give a 7/10. my guess as to why the Reichsrevolver is messed up is they probably based it initially off the police model, which had a double action system ( a really shit one but one nontheless) which required 2 triggers, also the MP18 is not only held wrong, its held in a painfully hard to use way (Ive tried it, and for me it sucks) also the magazine counter doesnt rotate
Wait, I didn't know that instead of ejecting bullet casings, the lewis gun only ejected belt links. Guess it fires the whole bullet (that's 65% more bullet per bullet)

@@duk1847 Might sound dumb but check your sensitivity in-game, it gets reset frequently for me, and also don't forget that it's immersive aiming, not just point and shoot like bland fps's

The MG08/15 is in there. It's what they're referring to as the MG08. That gun was always a dedicated Heavy Machine Gun, so this is the only iteration that should ever be included.
Wish they did Isonzo with this type of animations… you know, like day of infamy or something. Don’t get me wrong tho… I love Isonzo. I think some reloadings are wrong tho, I think.

WW1 game made in Squad engine with top notch animation and interaction, if only they could make the game more playable (can't lie, i am waiting to buy this game if people play regularly but seem like Aseans prefered H&G)
The Reichsrevolver being Double Action and the Cylinders being spun and the Revolvers being cocked each time you pull them out pisses me off beyond count .Also , the way the Bolts are gripped in Straight Bolt Rifles .
The M18 is very interesting and neat as well if am correct the lee Enfield Mk lll my father got one in his gun safe original caliber it was made in 1917 Lithgow arms plant in NSW take care friend!
Amazing how far games have come today, as to think not all that long ago indie development wasn’t all that known to the greater audience of video game players, yet now we live in a time where game engines come so versatile that a independent developer can build a game that looks up to triple A standard.
The muzzle flash follows the barrel up with the recoil making it look like the gun is shooting into the air. Most games have this detail nailed but somehow this one got it wrong. Even in first person it's incorrect.
For repurposed/remixed Squad gun sounds, these still sound pretty decent. I will say, however, that the sounds aren't really fitting for a WWII game. Not to me, anyway. Guns back then fired much bigger bore cartridges with slower burning powder, which gave the guns a much deeper and more bassy sound.
This game seems to be going for a fairly grounded look with its weapons and effects, so why the contrivance of having the trench gun fire 2 shells at a time?
@@ThommyofThenn It's based off of Squad's engine. I feel like they borrowed the ejection pattern off of some belt-fed like the M240 and have never bothered to fix it
reloads seem just a tad robotic but still nice to look at. honestly the firing animations stand out to me out of everything, they look really satisfying especially with how good the sounds are
Ok I'll point it out here, the devs have obviously not been in active combat scenarios or have not been away from a British firing test range cause is just so much unnecessary extra bits of animation for the weapons, like of course the obvious checking the magazine for pistols though granted sometimes it has been done in some scenarios but I don't think it's worth it to check your ammo in the middle of a fire fight. I'm also going have to either guess the person they used to motion capture is either short for the guns or they found an old ass bolt action that needs a lot of force to pull it, or they have no idea what they're doing cause I swear to God the Enfield has the smoothest action that the fire rate should be faster than what is on here and they keep moving the off hand from the hand rest when they don't need to cause I have never seen anyone do that before even when they're keeping their aim down sight and no jams don't count unless they added a jammed animation to the rifle.
Yeah, magazines don't use belt links, let alone a 20 round BAR mag. I remember reading that this error came from porting over belt fed machine gun stats/mechanics from Squad.

I found many things about this that were not right. Going in order M1911: You manipulate it like you have small hands and doctrine was to slingshot the slide, not hit the slide lock C96: Silent when reloading despite the fact that stripping those rounds off is quite loud and the bolt snaps forward loudly Lugers: small hand reload Reichsrevolver: You don't index the cylinder so you're just punching out and loading the same chamber 6 times Webley and S&W 2: You can't rotate the cylinders like that without the hammer in half-cock so your timing gears must be broken and you don't unlock the rounds from the speed loader on the Webley Colt 1917: Kinda odd that you loud 3 shots perfectly with one hand motion Trench Gun: Why do you have to load 2 rounds for every shot fired? Why haven't they fixed that yet? And no slam fire? Really? Mp18: That grip is dumb and you don't even press the giant mag release button. You just rip it out. And the manipulation of the bolt is odd RSC17: The enbloc should fall free when you open the mag as well as ding as it falls SMLE: No need to shift your grip that much to cycle the bolt and the way you thumb in new shots is bad and would be painful and probably cause rim lock G98: No need to shift your grip that much and where you do grab is the worst place that hand can be, because that area is REALLY hot after firing(I know from personal experience) Lebel: the elevator doesn't work, the tube should hold 8, not 7, and you don't half cycle the bolt to actually get a round on the elevator, which you should've had to push down to load the tube M1917 Enfield, M1903, and Ross: You don't prevent the chambered round from ejecting when you go to top off the gun, but you don't have to load that wasted shot back into the gun, making you down a shot Berthier: No ding as you chamber the last round and it is near impossible to top off a mannlicher enbloc with it still in the gun. You should instead take the enbloc out of the top and put a new one in Lewis gun: According to guys I talked to, if you had no assistant gunner, and for some reason couldn't set the gun down to reload, you'd nestle it in your left elbow and take off the mag with your right hand, put it on right handed, then rack the bolt. Then you would hoist it back into a normal grip. Also why does the mag jitter after the reload animation? And why does it eject disintegrating belts from the mag, when it's a mag fed and disintegrating belts hadn't been invented yet? Madson: All loading should be done right handed with the left supporting the gun with the sling .30-06 Chauchat: Functioning. Also why no 8mm Lebel Chauchat? Bar: Kicks out aforementioned disintegrating belts. Vickers: You don't have to pull the belt through the gun to remove a partial belt MG08: You don't have to assist the leading links through the feed system to get the first round of the belt chambered QF13pdr: You leave the breach unlocked when loading Rifle grenade: No rifle grenade firing is needed to be clamped on to shoot the thing without damaging the gun All in all, a lot of issues that I wouldn't expect from devs that seem to've wanted to make one of the most realistic depictions of the most covered fronts of WWI. There is way too many good sources of info on these guns to let such things slip for a studio aiming so high. And many of those issues listed were present in older builds of the game that they've had time to address. All in all, pretty disappointing to me.
I think this could benefit a lot from not having the dude look at the magazine every time he reloads with a detachable box magazine. It's pretty irksome, especially since no one does that when their life depends on their reload speed. And why in the fuck is the BAR ejecting link?
Y'know, I'm kinda sick of all these WW1/WW2 games that have been coming out in the last couple of years. It just feels really stagnant seeing "Shooty McBlooty: The Cooty of Dooty killing Nootzy's" again and again.
