I was older when I heard about Rosewood. Truly I beleive this history should be taught in schools as it is Florida history. Good or bad we can all learn a lesson from history and none should ever be forgotten nor should the families of the people of Rosewood. I beleive the land should go back to the families no discussion. I saw the movie and did my own searching on Rosewood, it was a growing beautiful little town. All taken away too soon.... I will be visiting this site soon.
If I had the money, I would buy land there and move some of the decendants back onto the property that rightfully belongs to them, it's just the right thing to do.
I bought a Powerball lottery ticket yesterday, if I had Won, I could have bought all of Rosewood and returned all of its decendants to the land that rightfully belongs to them, but I didn't win. I will keep trying.

My great grandmother was Buelah Carrier aka Scrappy. I dunno bout Mr. Wright being the saviour of the massacre, never heard of him but I do know we have Wright's in our family, as well as Carter's, Goins, etc. I know about my cousin Sylvester and I know our family were the ones that fought back killing some of white mob, during the massacre. I think John Singleton did a great job. However, I'd like to see it remade again, too.

The Rosewood descendants should be able to get repriatons from the state that would only be right to somewhat correct this terrible wrong in history.The Indians were somewhat compemsated and so were the Japanese that were illegily interred against their will,why not our Black people and then we can work on our forty acres and a mule compensation this would partialy correct some of the wrong.But it will be some sorry excuse as it happened so long ago.Thats bull.
I remember asking my grand daddy about this scar he had on his neck when I a kid he took me he had saved some folks a long time ago and told me there will never be tree that can ever hold him. I never understood what he meant but I do sure knows this story has some ties with him.

Wow,I can't Belives how far My Great Great Parent Lives from Rosewood, Fl during that's time 167.2 miles away 2h 46 mins. My Great Aunty told about this incident she was under 12 yrs Old. My Grandma was Born in 1934 and my Mom's was Born Same Town in 1960 Family Tree.
Those damn cars passing by is so annoying, each time I get into the documentary the cars seems to scare me. I must say I really enjoyed this information and my heart is broken for the beautiful souls that had to endure this crazy event, everyone knows that colored folks are spiritual and nothing could break our faith. I was born,raised and still live in Florida today. I remember the first time is saw the movie, i couldnt believe this happened in my homestate, i was so shocked and hurt.
I feel your pain. I never even heard of Rosewood and what happened there until I saw the movie and I was really outraged that this was never talked about in schools or mentioned . This country is so screwed up , amazing how the whites try to sweep it under a rug . Basically it was all about taking their land . They never want to see blacks doing better than they are or having more than they have. This has happened a lot through the years where black people's land was stolen by whites.

Wow you should visit there , I know I would if I lived that close. I've been to Orlando to go to Disneyworld years ago but being there would be more meaningful . There's something going on there because the families that had their members killed went back and wanted their land back and they wouldn't give it back to them. Some of the families got reparations . I truly believe the whites just wanted their land. I am not racist in any way but those white people back then were and there are still some out there today , some sick puppies.

There are sooooo many rich and famous black people in America who are more than capable to put their minds and money together to help our people get their land back.
