This is one of my favorite keerthanam in Kalyani. I fell in love with the same after listening Dasettan's ( Dr. K J Yesudas) recital which was telecast in DD Chennai then in mid eighties! Just listened vocalist Shyamala Ramakrishna's recital. Of course, her ragalaapana touched the nuances of Kalyanai...Her rendition with the in-born high-tone is very melodious. I believe that violin is by Akkarai Sornalatha; She is excellent in playing the violin. Shyamala's niraval @devim shaktibeejodbhava matrukaana shaeerinim ....is good.........its enough but my mind gets predilection to hear a further extended vinyasam on that beautiful line and the next line-'devanuta bhava roga hara vaidyapati hrudaya viharinim'! She presented a class swarakalpana too. Loved her eloquent rendering. Naturally this keerthanam reminds the deity Komalavalli Thayar, of course, Vaideeswaranathar and Selva Muthukumara swamy at the Vaideeswaran Koil.

What an excellent voice is for this youngster. What an alapana in Kalyani, what a visthara, What a potential ahead for this talent. Very impressive. She takes audience to kalyani, wherever she is. I appreciate Cleveland TA to have given opportunity to such talents, who will be role models. The accompanying violinist and mrudangist have complemented SR like milk and honey. well how can you say the artistes dropped singing RTP? They do sing it! In fact more often than earlier as the duration of concerts have increased than earlier . . also the no. of concerts each artist gives per year has increased drastically . . there are so many sabhas in chennai itself and as there are many sponsors they organise so many many concerts!
Nowadays carnatic musicians droped singing Ragam Tanam Pallavi is atragedy and as said by a music critic do not keep dristisamvahana with audiance but in hindustani music it is different.To that point this is a exception...THANX, a rgam thanam pallavi only and Drupad music lover.
