I never comment but this piece of live music is getting me through a very traumatic time in my life a few times every day. From start to finish this is truly magical.

Seeing them in Edinburgh after about five years of waiting. Bon Iver, through each genius creation they have blessed us with over the years have been a crucial part of my life and have encouraged me to interpret the world with an open mind, and envision my life with some extreme measure of purpose that I could not find for several years. Bon iver guides me through my depression, and provides me safety in moments I feel so helpless. If I could meet Justin Vernon, and the musicians he works alongside, I would not know where to begin, as there are numerous things to thank them for. One main thing that would come to mind is their ability to save me. That is what I'm most thankful for. EDIT: The day of the gig came, and me and a friend of mine took a wrong turn when walking to the venue, ended up round the back. It just so happened that Justin had been out for a smoke at this exact time. He introduced himself to us (as if we don't know who he is), and showed him our 22, a million tattoos, which he loved, he even described the God symbol looking like "two butts pressed together". I'll never unsee that. I even asked him if they could add Wash. to the set as it is the first Bon Iver song I ever heard, and my personal favourite. They done exactly this. Totally improvised it on stage, but it worked absolutely perfectly. Smoked with him, and had a great 15 minute conversation about all sorts of things. Got a picture too. It happened, guys...was the best night of my life.
I'm starting to realize as I read these comments that Bon Iver does a job that is second to none when it comes to reaching different people with different songs. There is some overlap here and there, but I realize that if you asked a Bon Iver fan their 3 favourite songs, you'd rarely get a consistent answer.
Skip to 24:00 close your eyes and imagine what was going through Justin’s head at this time. This song in particular gets me in a mood every time I hear it. So relaxing 😌
I was not emotionally prepared for just how fucking profound this live performance was. Just when I think I could have scoured YT for every live performance of them imaginable....
it's a delight to see like Bon Iver play live throught out the years, re-crafting their songs along the way. Their latest album sounded to me like "here's what we've been working on", yet filled with mystery and otherness. Now live since the NPR recording (november, december ?) they own the shit out of their new tracks mygoodness!
slowmatic I think- I THINK it’s one he did himself, if you go to 37d03d.com and you go to the people tab, and scroll down to Justin Vernon, he has clips of conversations he had with some people and it might be in one of those. I might be totally wrong, but my it’s my best guess considering he probs sampled it into his op-1 since that’s what he’s fidgeting around with at the end of the song.
@@GoblinedNghouled the song is the same length every time they perform it, but that drumroll has been different in multiple performances. I think Malin was right
I feel like this is the best live show of the band... And I've watched a lot of them. Thank you so much for the upload, I often come back to it. 666 sounds heavenly
I dont think I've listened to any other youtube video more than this...daily fyi. 2 things: 666 and moonwater are impeccable. And Minnesota rides so hard at 39:20. speechless everytime
Whenever I first listened to it it just reminded me of a panic attack, but after maybe 15 times I feel a deep hidden sorrow underneath it and it went from an annoyance to an incredibly powerful song for me.
This may be a long shot but does anybody have any ideas what the arpeggiator/synth that is used during Minnesota? I know they used the Critter & Guitari pocket piano and Organelle during the latest album but this has patch cables and isn't that. It has a "structure" label on it (seen at 37:22) but I can't seem to find any info on it, i'd love to find out what it is if anyone knows!
Andy stated on his instagram that the arpeggiator sound on Minnesota, WI comes from Mikes Prophet 6, but is being processed through his modular setup with some kind of granular device. My guess would be Mutable Instruments Clouds in the granular mode.
You have to change the title of this video. It won't pop up in a search for Bon Iver. People are missing out on a great performance because of the title. I only saw this today after YEARS of listening to Bon Iver.
Perth with that down tempo is soooooo heavy when the double bass drum is killing it at the end! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZiFTxXCewpc.html
Justin is great, nobody who would disagree could reach this video, title even doesn't say Bon Iver or Justin. But every fucking time i watch Bon Iver's video and get to see the clip of drummer i rewind that scene at least thrice. I fell so fucking insecure watching him giving his utmost on what he does, i am even not from the musical background.
