On the final day of summer, a performance of ‘Ribbons’...
I often get asked about touring and playing live, and although I have travelled to many countries around the world in the past to do shows, I’ve always felt at home as an artist in my studio, as opposed to on a stage. As ‘Ribbons’ is predominantly an album of overdubbed recordings of real instruments, all played by myself (apart from a few exceptions), it made it far more difficult to translate these recordings to a stage performance, especially when considering my studio recording techniques as being such an important part of my overall sound, I don’t want to compromise on that.
I still wanted to offer my listeners some insight into the performance aspect of the album, so I decided to shoot a few session videos. I had shot session videos in the past of songs from my 2013 album ‘Silver Wilkinson’, with the help from some musician friends in Somerset, England, but this time I decided to tackle the thing myself, and video myself playing each instrumental layer separately, editing them together, similar to how I work when I arrange and record music in my studio. To offer some visual variety within these sessions, I chose to shoot the sessions in my home, studio, and a couple of locations in Staffordshire, England, and Ceredigion, Wales, with just the assistance of my partner Holly to help carry the gear and set up.

Thank you Bibio! Your songs are enjoyed by my kids and I. While in a cottage on an island up North one night, my 9 year-old son and I were sitting in front of a fire which he was really enjoying and he told me we really needed some 'guitar fire music'. I quickly tried a few tracks and it wasn't until I played one of yours that he finally said the vibe was right. :)

Thank you Bibio. I remember trying to show your music to my friends in theatre of high school. But then my phone was grabbed out of my hands by a girl and she said “No one is singing along because they don’t like it” after like 6 seconds of the song playing. And she switched it to Panic at the disco. No hate but it broke my heart. I eventually took my phone back. And my girlfriend could see I was upset. She played the music. And sometimes just puts it on when we sit together at home. Your song rn is just inviting. It brings back memories of holding the lady I want to marry. And I just can’t help but sing along by humming along. And even singing improv over it. It’s just so nice. Thank you for the stuff you do. It really helps put poetry and a moment into words

Finally, some music coming out these days that tell the story of something good and hopeful. Enough with the somber, nihilistic and meaningless music. This is like a Romantic revival where Nature is once again a home and source of inspiration. Soft and melodious, no sophisticated artifices or useless cinematic extras. This music is simple and full of soul, sounding like it fits right in with the trees and clouds.

Hi Bibio, I hope you are well, I just wanted to say that “Old Graffiti” is a great song that you should sing with your arms up to the sky just like Marley did.
