I was definitely terrified the first time writing in my Bible!!! Knowing that I am the kind of person that is very indecisive, impulsive, constantly changing my mind on things! I like to write different words in the note-taking margin, for better clarity when reading the Scripture. For example, 4-5 years ago at first I was having trouble with the word 'abide,' so I wrote in the margin: remain in/continue in. Which helped me and now I usually just say abide! And it definitely helps to have spare pieces of paper if you're not sure if you really want to write something permanently yet! In another Bible, in the hot Australian summer 2020 right as the Covid pandemic started... I didn't have a lot of space. But, I read through book by book chapter by chapter and I would get excited about a verse and I'd write what stood out to me in the column. It was such a beautiful time with the, Lord, when I was doing it 🥰.

Oh my goodness, I'm a "baby Christian" and am so GRATEFUL to have found your channel! I'm a big nerd, generally, especially regarding words (big English Lit nerd 😆) and religion. So I'm super excited to check out the Wordnerd channel! Now, this (I'm a long time religion nerd) might sound weird, as I said I'm a "baby Christian". If you want to hear my (probably way too long 😂) story about recently accepting Jesus Christ into my heart (no pressure to read it. I know you're busy! I'm just happy to share it) here you go: I wasn't raised in a religion, but have had a lifelong academic interest in how humans try to interpret and communicate with what they see as god. Only recently have I been a believer in Jesus Christ. Basically, I had a personally scary time that caused me to question everything I thought I knew about reality and people. I experienced something that made me aware of real evil, outside of people, that seeks to get to us and corrupt even good people. Before, I thought of evil in psychological terms. Like, someone who was sociopathic due to trauma and bad parenting, with maybe a genetic predisposition. I had thought that they were pretty rare, and that they turn bad because they give into hate or anger or selfishness, out of psychological weakness or bad examples. I had thought, generally, that humans are inherently good, if left to their natural ways. I thought I was being a positive, loving person by believing that. And, yes, it led to me getting abused and taken advantage of countless times in my 41 years of life 😔 Then, something happened. In our society, I started to see even good people actively support real, objectively evil things. And it reminded me of ancient pagan practices. Which I used to attribute those past barbaric practices simply to being superstitious, and unscientific, and lacking in philosophical knowledge of things like freedom and individualism. I thought this barbarity was in the past for anyone living in civilized society. With exceptions being due to psychological problems and selfishness. Well, all that was shattered. I had waited for years for most people to realize certain really insane and bad things were happening in schools, and that certain adult "entertainment" was being pushed on little kids. That it wasn't just some "conservative" overreaction over minor, harmless things. But that moment if awakening and turning to sanity and basic decency never came for most people. Most didn't care. They even DEFENDED it. Some people I know aren't sociopaths or predatory. Even people like my own parents. I had to accept that humans aren't inclined to goodness naturally. That goodness really comes from something bigger and outside of us. So in that moment of finally having to admit this was the case, I reached out to God, acknowledging that if evil really is like this, and humans really are inclined to act like pagans giving their children over to Ba'al.... Then God must be real too. I immediately sincerely repented for being so stupid and arrogant, thinking He wasn't real, or that He was this heady, intellectual concept that no religion could really get right. A sort of New Age, vague "energy". I felt so scared about how wrong I was. It wasn't a simple apology. I have never been so regretful for anything in my entire life. I felt so vulnerable and just totally stripped of any safety or good feelings in that moment, because I was just... out there, where evil could get me. I knew I couldn't protect myself. And right away, He "answered"! I immediately felt what I can only describe as this outside, awesome, immense power, SEEING me. It was terrifying for a moment. Like what I imagine an ant being picked up by an actual giant might feel like. He could crush me at any moment... But instead, I started to fill up with this totally, pure love and warmth and safety. It felt like every cell of my body was being hugged by the most loving, perfect parent, beyond imagining. Having studied every religion ever, in my academic curiosity, I knew it was Jesus. And, of course, He was. Of course Jesus is real and He is God. For one thing, God loves us SO much. But He is so powerful, He cannot be with us in His true, raw form. He needed a way to access us without destroying us. He also knows we are limited in our understanding and capabilities. This is why He needed to come to us as Jesus. This is why Jesus has always been, from the beginning. This is what John speaks of. This is what John means by Jesus being God's "Logos"; Not literally "word" (literally just the words that make up Scripture) like many think. I certainly thought that's what John meant by "Word". And it was something I disliked about Christianity, before I realized what it actually meant. It means "breath", expression, mode of communication... He needed a way to speak to us in a human-like expression. If He showed us His love using His full, divine presence, we would be destroyed by the shock alone! And that is EXACTLY how I would describe what I felt in that moment. Love, forgiveness, parental connection in a way that me, being a human, really recognized. But SO perfect and immense, it was clearly also from a divine source. So, from that day on, I've had Jesus in my heart. If anyone actually managed to read ALL this, bless you, especially your patience 😂

But so is life. It brings me joy. And so does life. It’s all based on God’s firm foundation. And so is my life. 💚✝️🙏🙌 Thank you for inspiring me!

I am 65, so nice to see a young lady so passionate about her bible and learning. Love the train talk, of course I'm a guy, LOL. You crack me up. God bless. Just bought a new wide margin verse by verse NKJV to replace my 40 year old Thompson Chain.I was looking for new ideas on notes. One thing i don't understand about a lot of the bible journaling I see on youtube is the fact that much of it covers the text making the bible useless for reading. Not sure why they do that. I intend to do monochrome, meaning all black with my Microns which I have used for 50 years. More symbols, less text. Simple brackets on the side of paragraphs or sections instead of underlining. I always use rulers to keep everything streamlined and have developed my own set of symbols with stencil cutouts in plastic so everything is the same size and shape. I recommend everyone practice their handwriting. No just for your bible but for everything. Everyone can improve their handwriting. Especially if you want your kids to be able to easily read your notes.

This was EXACTLY what I needed to hear. I struggle with perfectionism and wanted to start Bible journaling but felt like I’d mess it up.I do the same thing with bullet journaling afraid I’d mess up a new notebook. It’s not about being perfect it’s about spending time with God and I cannot mess up the scripture. Diving in today. 💜

Thanks for this video Faith! I definitely take the dating your Bible to heart. I actually started deep Bible studying as of March. And I know that I was led to a certain book at a certain time in my life. So I added dates to the beginning of the books, as I started them. So I can look back on it later and remember what I was going through in that time.

Great video! I always take notes when listening to a sermon... but never thought about adding them to my bible later until stumbling upon these videos. It would be a great way to remind myself the key points of the message. I remember after sunday school my dad would ask us three kids what we learned from the lesson. We weren't allowed to give a basic answer! hahaha So notes helped me focus and retain it all. =) See you next video!

@@HowtoFaithALife Sorry for the misunderstanding. I'm on a strict budget cause of nursing school. I have the ESV study bible and a new testament life application commentary. Is there way to clarify the bible reading and how to apply it to your life? Maybe a video a free bible tools or application commentary. I took one of your tips a couple days ago and added a page of notes to my bible. Scary at first but so worth it! Thank you. I was reading Exodus 16 about the manna and quail and there was so much I learned and wanted to remember. So I wrote it all down on a piece of paper and taped it in. I also wanted to apologize because I hope I didn't offend/upset you on the previous video when I said I didn't want to add to your plate with my prayer requests. I just get so nervous that I come across as an annoying subscriber. I hope we are still friends. 💖🙏
