Welcome back to our Galatians #BibleStudyWithMe series! Today we are studying #Galatians chapter 4. 💛
In this chapter, Paul continues his argument to the Galatians for justification by faith in Jesus Christ alone - and he spends a good chunk of the passage giving an allegory to help illuminate this truth. To be honest, I never really understood this part of the passage before - it always seemed like a randomly placed story and I didn't understand the connection. But nothing about Scripture is random! In studying Galatians 4 more in depth than I had before, I learned the meaning of this allegory Paul gives, and it is crazy cool. 🤯I'll be breaking it down in this #BibleVideo and as always, going through the chapter verse by verse.
I can't believe we're over halfway through this series already! Next week in chapter 5 we will begin to talk more about sanctification (the process by which God is continually shaping us more and more into His image) and living by the Spirit. It's going to be good. 🤗
Let me know what you learned from studying Galatians chapter 4, and what verse stood out to you most (and why) down in the comments. ✨

Wasn’t that such a cool allegory?! 🤯 what did you learn from this chapter? What verse stood out to you most?
@adventureinlife7700
@adventureinlife7700 4 года назад
Indeed a very cool allegory! I was always confused by this verse: "You observe days and months and seasons and years! I am afraid I may have labored over you in vain." Galatians 4:10-11 But you explained it very well. It's referring to the ways the Galatian people would try to adhere to the law and miss the point of salvation through faith in Jesus. What stood out the most to me was honestly Galatians 4:12-20. To me it speaks to how important it is to not get complacent in the Word of God, to not get lazy in the Word of God. For if we do we can, as the Galatians did, forget the past lessons God has taught us and end up letting our guard down so much so that we end up with disdain toward the trusted teachers we held so close to for guidance and leadership. Anytime we let our guard down we give the enemy opportunity to spoil what God meant for good. Also the "Flesh" and "Promise" correlation to us as we live out our lives. Whenever we try to go our own way we will be met with failure or suffering that we otherwise could have avoided. Granted there are many times that God leaves it completely up to us to decided a course of action but when He clearly is putting a call on our life for one thing or anther it is in our best interest and His glory that we obey that call.

YES, such great thoughts! When we are rooted in what God's Word said we will be more able to discern the teaching we hear!

I learned who Ishmael and Isaac were and what they represented. I learned all about Abraham , Sarah and Hagar. I learned about Primus verses Flesh. I learned that it is better to wait for the promise rather than going by the flesh and doing it yourself. I learned the Definition of Allegory, and Galatia,.

Im a 68 year old newly baptized and saved. I have been hosting a Bible study (I’m the student, the rest are well read) of men how I refer to as Hebraic Christians as they keep the feasts and festivals and adhere to the dietary restrictions. I was struggling and praying about this until we started Galatians and now I hear Paul telling me I don’t have to do that.

I’m doing a bible study in Colossians with 2 of my best friends and a lady from church who is our high school pastor’s wife, and she has been teaching us how to read and study the Bible, and I’m learning so much! I’ve learned a lot of practical ways to read and study the Bible, and normally I would have just read through a passage and underlined verses that I liked, but now I have a better understanding of passages and contexts. It’s really encouraging to watch videos like these and to have people come along side me and help me in my walk with the Lord!

I truely am enjoying these. I am redirecting my self back to God. Finding my faith again after 18 years if being a Wiccan. I didnt know where to start or how to start i dont even own a bible ( yet). Im getting there. Oddly your videos popped up out of no where on my feed so i decided to skim trhu and found that i enjoy your content. So i prayed for guidance as to where to start and how, and Galatians was recomended. It is strange because Peter went his own way, (if i am correct for a few year right?) And then came back to God. I may not be saying that right, i dont know. But i see myself in him. I was ( i wont say lost) but on a different path. ( of the flesh) i guess you could say. Now im back and ready to fully study, understand , and when the timing is right give my life back to the Lord. (Baptized) Anyways thank you for these videos.

Good study. When I read this chapter I am also struck by the very startling implications of Paul's words. He says that Jews who are not in Christ are NOT heirs of the promise. They are essentially Ishmaelites. This has various ramifications for one's view on Israel, especially if you think they are still heirs of any promises.

But now after you have known God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage? You observe days and months and seasons and years. Galatians 4:9‭-‬10 This is not talking about the Appointed Times of God in Leviticus 23. His holy days are not weak and beggarly. Paul says in Colossians 2 specifically, that the sabbaths, new moons, and festivals are shadows of things that are... to come. The Holy days are weak in that these practices cannot save us or justify us. However, they point to Christ, who does save us, which is all the more reason to remember them rather than assume they are no longer necessary. The Galatians were primarily Gentiles, therefore, them returning to things they were once in bondage to could not be the ceremonies of God, which was given to Moses by Christ. It was more than likely that they were desiring to return to old pagan ways of worship and/or, observation of the oral law of Judaism which also contained observations of man-made seasons, months, days, and years. Either way, it is clear that what God ordained in the Appointed Times is not the problem or bondage. But for some reason, we in the church believe that it pertains to just that. Thoughts? Thank you for creating this video. I pray you are well, and encouraged to stay in His word. Be blessed and be well

No one alive today was born under the law and no one alive today is redeemed from the curse of the law. Here's why... The law was only given to OC Israel and it ended almost 2,000 years ago. No law = no transmission = no redemption

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭11:5‭-‬6‬ ‭NIV‬‬ [5] But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head-it is the same as having her head shaved. [6] For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head. 😊❤

”I mean that the heir, as long as he is a child, is no different from a slave, though he is the owner of everything, but he is under guardians and managers until the date set by his father. In the same way we also, when we were children, were enslaved to the elementary principles of the world. But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God. Formerly, when you did not know God, you were enslaved to those that by nature are not gods. But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and worthless elementary principles of the world, whose slaves you want to be once more? I am afraid I may have labored over you in vain. Brothers, I entreat you, become as I am, for I also have become as you are. You did me no wrong. You know it was because of a bodily ailment that I preached the gospel to you at first, and though my condition was a trial to you, you did not scorn or despise me, but received me as an angel of God, as Christ Jesus. What then has become of your blessedness? For I testify to you that, if possible, you would have gouged out your eyes and given them to me. Have I then become your enemy by telling you the truth? They make much of you, but for no good purpose. They want to shut you out, that you may make much of them. It is always good to be made much of for a good purpose, and not only when I am present with you, my little children, for whom I am again in the anguish of childbirth until Christ is formed in you! I wish I could be present with you now and change my tone, for I am perplexed about you. Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not listen to the law? For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by a slave woman and one by a free woman. But the son of the slave was born according to the flesh, while the son of the free woman was born through promise. Now this may be interpreted allegorically: these women are two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children for slavery; she is Hagar. Now Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia; she corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children. But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother.“ ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭4‬:‭1‬-‭9‬, ‭11‬-‭26‬ ‭ESV‬‬ bible.com/bible/59/gal.4.1-26.ESV

Dear self-thinkers, The law was only given to old Covenant Israel and has not existed for nearly two thousand years. The law didn't "gaurd over us". No one alive today was ever "under the law" or its curse. No one alive today is redeemed from the curse of the law. The allegory in Galatians 4 has ZERO to do with 21st century non-Israelites. You're welcome.

Kaci I love your heart but I fear that you have missed the point of this chapter. Paul is calling the Galatians to give up the religious and legal systems set up by man and return to the instructions of God. He is saying don't try and reinvent the wheel God has already invented the best wheel. The question is once we are saved by grace how are we supposed to live? Do we go find the local teacher who tickles our ears and tells us to celebrate days and seasons and years chosen by man or do we follow the spirit and celebrate the days and seasons and years chosen by God. There is a lie in the church that says parts of the law have passed away this is in direct conflict with the words of Jesus who says that all of the Law will remain until the heavens and the earth pass away (which happens in Revelation 21) He also says that those who do great works for him but abandon the law will be cast into hell in Matthew 7. The Apostle John says that sin is the transgression of the law. So the question is does any New Testament book tell us that it is alright to sin? Even in Galatians Paul tells us to avoid our sinful desires or we wont enter the kingdom of heaven. So the questions is remains does Paul disagree with Jesus or are we misunderstanding Paul. Once again keep digging deeper into the truth. As we face the end times we need men and women to stand up for God.
