Allen Parr! He's one of my favorites, too! I realized that I don't have an NIV hardcopy anymore! But you're right that we can look online . NLT is my "read through the bible" bible, I use NIV when I do studies with new believers in mind, I do use NASB and NKJV since my pastors do, but my resident bible is ESV. I'll try this out! I love learning from you. I'm a pastor's kid but since I'm a rebel, I did not go to bible school, 😅 but God has called me to teach with what I do have. God-willing I could do deeper studies. I thank God for your channel in my life. :)

Firstly, I enjoy Allen Parr. he is very knowledgeable when it comes to the word and studying of the word I wish a lot of his topics didn’t have to be so controversial. Truthfully if his video were similar to faith’s in the sense of solely focused on spiritually learning and growing in Christ I would a more supportive. But beside this he’s really great
This was such an awesome video Faith. Having the opportunity to work for Allen Parr I know for sure he does use commentaries but I love how you highlighted some of the simple tips that he gives. This was awesome.

I guess you don't care how many pastors he's judged :( God tells us very plainly in His Word not to judge His anointed ones, but that seems to be ALL he does. I won't watch this video, cause honestly, I can't BELIEVE anyone would listen to a word he says. Sorry, but I'll stick with God (BELIEVE me, if I wanted to the words of someone I absolutely LOVED over God's, it would have been Kat Kerr. She was my absolute FAVORITE prophet, but I haven't listened to her now for 2 years ever since she refused (and STILL refuses) to apologize and repent over the whole Trump thing). But I even prefer God over HER (so knowing and HEARING Allan's judging everyone, no thanks :)
I love looking at different versions and translations to see what they say different. My mom had a Bible that had kjv side by side with niv. Very helpful
Allen Parr has really given me a new excitement and understanding for the bible. The way he explains each gospel brings it to life and the way he compares all 4 gospels allows me to really understand and take not only want to run to the bible and read it but to also transition from my mind to my heart. Jesus was not liked or welcomed by everyone and neither will anyone else. There will always be an opposition and Allen Parr stands strong teaching the bible to everyone. Thank you for acknowledging and highlighting his ministry.
I grew up in a KJV only community. I had already moved away from it, kind of, but usually took my NKJ to church. You helped me understand different versions and to not feel guilty about my preferred translation. I still have several translations, and I also look online, but I don't feel guilty about using others now.
This is my favorite Bible study method, actually. I just compare translations and copy down in my notebook the ones that differ significantly. I underline the differences, thinking about the meanings. Then, I write down any questions and thoughts I might have in response. Finally, I go about my day, chewing on what I've read and praying. Sometimes, other verses come to mind, so I go look those up and write them in my notebook, too. Finally, when I have chewed and prayed a while, I'll then sit down again to read commentaries (and, sometimes, listen to sermons) on the passage. Here's the BIGGIE for me: What a delight it is and affirming of Holy Spirit's communication with me when others seem to have gotten some of the same ideas and perspectives from the passage! And, when there's added information and knowledge (usually historical and/or archeological), I consider it a bonus from my siblings-in-Christ; the Church is "working as it should." So, I write in my notebook some more [praises for His teaching, praises for Bible scholars, and, often, a bit of a letter in response to Him]. It's a long method, but it's been such a blessing for me!

I’ve never heard of Mr. Parr, but I will certainly go and check out some of his videos. Thank you for this study method. ❤Received my new parallel Bible (with four different versions) last week. This was the first time I put it to use with my own scripture lesson. I did not realize how overwhelming it would feel to have four versions laid out in front of me 😂 This method greatly reduced the overwhelm, and I truly enjoyed tonight’s scripture study.

Thanks for sharing I love the simplicity here! I like to add too that using electronic greek/heb dictionaries (tap a word to see the Greek) is hugely helpful as well to see the options the translators could choose from, and the you can quickly see how the same Greek word was translated elsewhere! A classic strongs dictionary is good, but very clunky to search through.
Fantastic option on choosing Allen Parr. He has such a great gift explaining the Bible, such a love for God and such a solid Christian! Good for you for drawing in people to love Christ and showing examples as they should be not twisting verses and parables ❤ You are a wonderful lady and loves to have fun 😊
Allan Parr is NOT a good person to listen to. He is WAAAAY too judgemental!!! (ESPECIALLY of TV Preachers). I do Discovery Bible study, which is an inductive Bible study. I consider the genre, who wrote it, who it's written to and themes (as I start a book), read from different translations (CSB, NLT, ESV), write down what stands out in any version, then ask 4 questions. What do I learn about God? What do I learn about people? How is God leading me to obey? Who will I share this passage with? I do this in my QT and with groups. It is amazing how it deepens your relationship with God. I also do Discovery Bible study on my channel. Thanks for sharing.

When you bible study with commentary do you write everything down in your notes? I get caught up on knowing what to note. I write it all down😂 I also struggled with writing notes in college and never fully learned how to take notes.
From personal experience, there are two things you can do the improve your process. One, do not start your study with commentaries. Most commentaries are written by people with a dedication to a denominational systematic, so unless you want to close the door to most of what scripture has to say, I would save commentaries for last to help solidify your conclusions. Two, start by reading the entire book once of twice, not stopping to get lost in the weeds and jotting down major themes. Greek was structured by thought or the modern equivalent of a large paragraph. Find those, read, re-read them and make your conclusions are drawn on that scale, otherwise you lose the forest through the trees. The Bible was not written in verses that are loosely fit together, but given the typical devotional study pattern, this is how most people end up understanding scripture.

Yes, thank you. He is a Calvinist which is not biblical. It is a works-based teaching that you much keep yourself saved by good works. It is not the gospel. Run from people like this. Don't let it into your ear gates and eye gates or it becomes what you believe.
