Bicycle Tour the Netherlands - Rotterdam to Vlissingen - Family Bike tour - Part 3

In the summer of 2017, our family returned to Europe to do another awesome bike tour. We started in Amsterdam and bicycled 800 km in a circle to Brussels and back to Amsterdam.
This part of the bike tour takes us from Rotterdam to Vlissingen. The ride was 115km with winds of 40km/hour against us most of the time.
This day has us biking the famed LF routes (Landelijke Fietsroutes). The LF routes are cross country bike traveling routes intended for multi-day bicycle tours. As well, we travelled across many causeways and dikes along the west coast of the Netherlands.

The New York burrough of Flushing is called after Vlissingen. Apparently your ancestors also had difficulty pronouncing it 😉

Ooh the part at 9:05, I had to cycle that route from Middelburg to Vlissingen everyday to get to school. It was notorious for always having to bike against the wind. In the morning you got the wind in your face, and at the end of the day when school was done, it would've turned 180 degrees D:

That always seems to be the case always riding against the wind. Don't know must be a Dutch weather thing i guess 😉. Kutwind en is het de hele dag droog, ga je naar huis ja hoor ... regen.

Funny the countdown traffic light was in Spijkenisse i saw it because i build the yellow round building across the street (the Rabobank it was back in the days) Nice ride btw :)

Tire liners work for me. Hundreds of miles without a flat so far. I don't even take a kit or spare tube with me. I have subscribed. :)

+Carlos Merighe I've used those too. In fact the tire had one in it. The second puncture was on the side of the tire so the liner would not help. Thanks for subscribing!

In the Nederlands there is a lot of glass on the roads mostly in the city's after or during the weekends !!!

The tunnel in Rotterdam is from 1942 under the Maas. One of the oldest tunnels under the Maas (Meuse).

o m g , you guy s past my village Pernis , great., and the next village Hoogvliet there are a few bike shops and I could bike along with you guys,., after Hoogvliet you went over the bridge into Spijkenisse were my job is , a 12 km trip from Pernis, but mostly I take my scooter a Kymco Agility, , ,. after Spijkenisse you took my favourite bike path wich is former rail for a tram to Hellevoetsluis,., you cross a very nice countryside with little village s, up untill you reached Hellevoetsluis.,. a pity you had to cycle against the wind on the dam s to VLissingen., aaaagh,.

Our country may be flat, but quite windy so cycling may not be as easy as the flatness would suggest.

The Maastunnel is now totally renewed and not long a go reopened for bikes, cars, and walkers.., come back to see it , lol., on these dams or bridges to Vlissingen you know what they do during hard winds against you???, The Dutch championship who can cycle as the fastest against the wind, lol, every person with same bike with no gears o m g.
