President Joe Biden urged Americans to “take a step back” after the assassination attempt on his rival and presidential challenger, former President Donald Trump.
In his third such primetime address since taking office in 2021, President Biden said, “we can’t, we must not go down” the road of political violence after Saturday’s shooting at a Trump campaign rally in Pennsylvania.
Earlier Sunday, he condemned political violence and called for national unity, and he also urged Americans not to jump to conclusions as law enforcement investigates the incident.
