Because we allowed them to grow in power, imagining that they would never go anywhere. With the idea that they would fizzle out and stop being an annoyance. They did stop being an annoyance for the most part, and that annoyance became a very dangerous set of ideologies that have taken over a majority of social and economic roles. They are now simultaneously channeling Ideocracy and some of the most dangerous fascist, tyrannical Powers in history.
