The Jasper at 7:27 mark looks like a shrunken brain. LOL.. Never knew they turned to stone when they shrunk.. LOL.. Love the Pet wood, especially the one that was enveloped by Agate like a hot dog in a bun. The River never ceases to Amaze...

Oh wow! You found some really great ones! And what do you mean the quartz pocket ones aren't good for cutting? Those are the ones that usually have iris potential! And I have to ask, are you going to list any of the stromatolites in your Etsy store? I love them and want to buy one from you! I collect stromatolites and I want one from everywhere. They are so different from all over and that one Jim found was awesome! So I had to ask! I'm never going to be able to get out to the Yellowstone like id hoped because my handicap won't let me walk on uneven surfaces anymore, so I'm stuck buying the rocks that I want these days! But you guys got some beautiful ones! Jim's pet wood pieces were awesome! And that big one with the tree rings was spectacular! That was so nice of her to take you out to her property again! Such amazing stuff! Thanks Kate!❤❤❤

Lisa, that particular quartz pocket was pretty much the whole rock - there was only a thin layer of agate around it. The stromatalites - soooooon. :)

So many Agats. I saw a video here on YT where someone was up at Yellowstone River and picked rocks. They talked about bonderies/borders, that NO ONE can say that they owe the land close to rivers etc, so it is free for all to look for rocks in some distances from the riverbeds?? Do you know anything about that? Nice trip
@KatyDidRocks
@KatyDidRocks 10 месяцев назад
That was probably me! Yes, it's true that the beaches are public access - if you can get to them! Without a boat, though, the best way is to be invited through private land.
@sallyoneill1171
@sallyoneill1171 10 месяцев назад
Thank you for sharing. Can you suggest a public place to go on the Yellowstone for some good agates?
@KatyDidRocks
@KatyDidRocks 10 месяцев назад
Hello! The beaches of the Yellowstone, up to the regular high water mark, are available to the public - it’s just getting there that’s the problem, unless you have a boat! There are many fishing accesses and bridges along the river that provide public access. I’ve actually written a book detailing them - “So Many Beautiful Rocks” on my Etsy store. Good luck!

Hello! My name is Kattia, I am from Costa Rica and I have been watching your videos. You know I also like to collect rocks. I have a collection of them and I would like you to help me identify them. Most of them I had collected with the idea that they were made of quartz. However, seeing your vines, I think it could have, in addition to quartz, agates and jaspers. Could you help me identify them, I could send you photos to your email, if you agree.
