For the first time in the 40 years I've followed English football there's more Spurs Shirts in Australia than any other team shirt including my team the Brisbane Roar.. Spurs are massive here now COYS ❤️❤️
Jamie Donley will become a first team regular within the next 2 seasons! Also high hopes for Tyrese Hall and Will Lankshear plus Mikey Moore of course.
Ange is dismissive of most questions. Not sure why people assume he doesn’t want Werner. He played him at every opportunity, even when Son was back and available 🤷🏻♂️
Sesko would be the striker we need and a quality defensive midfielder we need protection in front of the defence to easy to play through they have to be priority imo
His performance last night was amazing! But very much a Lucas Moura type of spectacular performance …he is similarly frustrating as a player a lot of the time, but is an unpredictable threat and a useful outlet. He does have a strong mentality too and Ange would appreciate that.
Go and get the best type of players Spurs needs from Argentina. Boca Juniors and River Plate clubs can provide 3 players each that would walk into a Spurs first eleven and each would not cost a bomb to get on a 4 year contract.
Excellent Sean, loved the analysis. Believe that we need to offload Gil and co asap and focus on ensuring the incomings are Ange's preferred replacements and are a step up in quality not bargain basement replacements (i.e. their available on a free)
Spurs don't need another "could come good" winger. They currently have Johnson and Kulu, who massively split fan opinion. They need a player that will come in and put up numbers similar to Son. Same goes for the striker position.
Yeah, I'm not sure Pedro Neto is a big enough goal threat to warrant 60 or 80 million. His assists are good, but even Brenan Johnson was catching him up with assists.
If we are looking at this transfer window with the Ange Project in mind i believe we don't need to go buy the 'best' players we just need to re arrange the squad with players who suit this system in this window. then next year we can go after those players who will be 'upgrades' that will push us on to that next level.
I’m just worried, Levy will find ways to screw up the deals!! Ange has said, our targets have been established since February, it’s in the hands of sporting directors, I’m off on holiday, period. When he gets back, will Levy still be haggling over £5mil for his first deal?? Or be 50% done!! Nobody else knows that answer!! Doesnt matter how many suitable players we have lined up!! Levy can still SCREW IT UP!! COYS🙏🏾🙏🏾
IMO in balancing the budget, style of player composed/good decision maker) required for the system , considering HG quota and moving us up a level in attack (plus guides us towards the type of CF) I would go all out to trigger the Dani Olmo release clause. I can then see how an Toney or Solanke (HG tick box) could effectively work in an Ange system. It’s just it takes a chunk away from the 6/8 midfield budget.
I would like to see Mbuemo, Wissa, Hudson Odoi and James Trafford (as a backup keeper, replacing the aging and average Forster) and maybe decent striker. Also using Mbuemo as the backup striker too. Also Gallagher if the price is right. For me all those transfers would be a fantastic window and addition to the squad.
I’d love us to sign Raphinha as first choice winger ahead of Bakayoko but not sure how realistic that is. So I say Bakayoko and Eze as Bakayoko has great potential and playing in the Eredivisie makes him a more likely target to get.
Maybe ange or scouting team we could find great players during EURO MATCHES.......????🤔🧐🏴🏴🏴🇺🇦🇹🇩🇸🇪🇷🇺🇷🇴🇳🇴🇲🇫🇮🇸🇪🇺🇫🇮🇪🇪🇧🇬 Pavel nedved was discovered during euros .
Sean..,I CAN ACTUALLY AGREE WITH YOU ON SOMETHING....JOAO PELINHO FROM FULHAM IS EXACTLY WHAT WE NEED BECAUSE HE'S A MIDFIELD BALL WINNER AND WE'VE BEEN CRYING OUT FOR A BALL Winner IN THE MIDFIELD FOREVER!!! PLEASE PLEASE SPURS MAKE HIM YOUR FIRST SIGNING 😮😮😮
Not watched for a while, rediscovering you around a pool in Cyprus 😀 new walking route? TG? Why don't you combine your walk and talk with a round of foot golf 😊
I think we need to target good quality English players for the upcoming season, as well as prepare a couple of homegrowns for the squad from the U21. Especially if the likes of Davies and Skipp are out
That list you have Sean, is always a list of top quality signings, but we always end up signing sub quality players. It's typical Daniel Levy. That's the reason under Levy we've won one League cup and that's it in 23 years. This window we have the upper hand, and we're in the position to spend more than the clubs around us, this is the window it has to happen, I certainly won't be holding my breath though, a leopard doesn't change it's spots. It's going to be very interesting.
Brobbey / Sesko as Striker, Balikwisha as LW (or back up to Son depending) & Bakayoko or MBeumo or Skov Olsen on the right (got to get rid of Kulu, much too predictable, even as a CAM)
We need people who can beat a man and also pose a goal threat. Between Johnson and Werner, neither really have the skill to beat someone 1-on-1 and they’re both far more prone to miss chances as opposed to scoring them. Sounds ruthless but they simply don’t cut it, neither does Kulusevski. Even if someone isn’t scorer as such, then I’d want them to be creators in that position which again most of ours don’t offer
I think eze should be our absolute priority! use Solomon as part of the deal! Gyerekos should be number 1 target would suit ange style big time! onana from Everton would complete our midfield!
I went to the match and the game had less intensity than a 11v11 training match as expected. They fly in a private jet in lower cabin pressure so the players will be fine. Even with jet lag, it would be much less taxing on the players if Spurs were playing Newcastle in the FA Cup final and no one would say that player welfare is an issue to stop them playing an FA Cup final.
What Is so frustrating is the number of poor signings we are still making .Richardson, Johnson, werner, t🎉o name a few .We must get quality over quantity!!
Werner is on loan and richarlison was signed years ago. We cannot go for "quality" as you're saying and buy 1 or 2 100m players this season. We need a lot of players this window. The season after we can make big player signings.
Ange quote on Timo Werner situation : “Again, a lot of that will depend on the negotiations between the clubs and how Timo feels. From my perspective, I’m comfortable with that situation, and I’ll let the other guys steer it to see what kind of outcome there is.” "I'll let the other guys steer it ????" WTF kind of comment is that ?. Who are these "other guys" and shouldn't Ange be the one making the final decisions ?
I think he's avoiding dunking on Timo... I don't think we'll go for him to be honest. He had two big injuries last season, wasteful in front of goal and one dimensional in the final third. We can put that £15m into much better players.
Others would be lange and levy. They're negotiating the final deal. Feels like Ange is happy to keep him but not if its too much. If it's too expensive, other options will work better
If you don't understand that others are involved in the transfer process, I don't know what to tell you. Just for reference, the others involved per transfer would will be DoF, Chairman from the club side, and the player's agent from the othe side
Back to the drawing board for what should have been done when Big Ange came in last season and played his part in that before stepping through the doors that's why Le Celso is still at Spurs could have had what could've been a good swap for him now he's on the potential list of departures why so long to wait for that chewing cud again. Will Big Ange get it right for a successful next season a trophy winning season ?
You should be a scout..unreal information Sean...Toney....ranphina gallagher and the bologna centre back......get rid of skipp gil Solomon richarlson holjberg royal bissouma.
I went to the game in Australia, for me it was a life time dream to see Tottenham play. Our future looks great some really talented young players. Brendon Johnson needs to be sold what a flop. He didn’t take any players on and just went backwards, and couldn’t score in the six yard box. Thanks for all the work you do , love listening to to your podcasts , cheers mate
Personally I'd sell ALL of our forwards and replace them with top quality signings, none of our forwards is good enough. I even include Sonny in that, he's peaked and isn't getting any better, I'd take the cash now and we could get a serious fee for him too.
People openly talking about their mental health struggles being used as a reason to question their mentality is one of the biggest reasons people don't open up. I don't think I need to tell you about Men suicide rates. Didn't expect this from you Sean. First video I have ever pressed the dislike on.
Great video as usual Sean. I do find the media narrative around our friendly in Australia hypocritical. Both us and Newcastle exited cups early and we didn’t have Europe at all so we haven’t played that many games. I doubt the same negativity will be there when games are played abroad as per current discussions amongst the governing bodies.
The conjecture is fun but all Spurs need is the double G.Gallagher in midfield and big strong Gimenez from LeipZig and cover for Udogie at left back.Done😊
Football these days is all about hype vs actual talent and delivery. The gambling stuff and transfer links raised Toney's profile above his true level. Then people like Sean, Henry, Savva, Perchy, and all the rest buy into it.
I would sell on Son and Richy, this window whilst they still have a usable value, Son isnow on the downward slope, for a team with high ambitions. not a popular suggestion with our fan base I would imagine.
Spurs is unlikely to match Werner's current wage. They are giving him the big wage to be a squad player. He will have to take a big pay cut for a permanent move.
Have you any standard at all for this club? One can have a decent vocab and use that tool to speak a load of hogwash. That's basically what you're doing, but what you turn a blind eye to is that these players we're linked with are bog standard Forest and Everton level at best. Hudson Odoi scored only 8 Premier League goals last season where as Gordon got 11 goals and 10 assists. Bowen for the Hammers got 16 goals and 6 assists. Eze got 11 goals and 4 assits and Olisei got 10 goals and 6 assits. These are the types of wingers that we should be trying to sign and you should be setting a higher standard for the club. Marcus Edwards has only scored something like 4 goals in the Portuguese league all season. he's garbage plus he's another inverted winger. Illing Junior is not even ready for the Premier League yet.
Have to agree, I suspected that Ange isn’t that interested in Timo. I remember one time Werner missed a sitter and the camera went to Anges reaction and he basically had the body language indicating like ‘this guy sucks!’.
Raphina would be nice. I actually think we need to make a splash signing, or a signing with massiv potential to improve our first 11. As it stands, our forward line is Son, Richarlison, Johnson. So any signing we make has to be a level above Richy or Johnson to really improve us. And Johnson will presumably continue to improve himself.
I don’t think we will have a big splash signing (70+mil). Ange has reiterated many times that the difference between the top cost players vs bargain bin is rarely little, and it comes down to the players mentality and values for him. Will be a very interesting window.
Early moves, Sean: should prioritise deals already lined up and who will be in the Euros, so get the medicals done pronto. During the Euros, there's lots of players not on international duty and why should the transfer team at clubs be having an extended jolly, particularly at smaller clubs who may not be in the market for the top European talent? Could easily do plenty of shifting players out from mid June to mid July who will be wanted for the start of pre-season at their new clubs. I hope Spurs do plenty of selling before June 30th to aid the annual financial figures, maybe bringing in a few to help other clubs with their FFP. In my view, there's no reason why several deals haven't effectively already been agreed, subject to medicals, if the teams have been hard at work the past four months since February 1st.
Zirkzee and Gudmundsson might not seem the most thrilling additions, but bring a lot to a team. Could be good value in comparison to other choices. I still think it leaves a huge issue with the type of wide forwards we have. The balance and style of play in the system concerns me what ever the choices. Arguably a Toney and Solanke might be the expensive, but biggest and best fit piece to what we have in the wide areas at the moment. I’m just unsure overall if that is what Ange system is aiming for in a CF.
Sean is both thoughtful and insightful in his approach to topics regarding this club. I very much prefer this type of content than the superficial reactionary channels that thrive on calling the players awful, fans stupid and can’t wait to kick the manager out of the club asap, while in the same breath proclaiming that it doesn’t matter which manager is in charge of this club.
Any thoughts on Desire Doue? Looks a fantastic prospect and suits our budget & philosphy, kinda reminds me of Eze with his ability to drift past his players and his positional flexibility.
All of those midfielders, wingers & strikers you have mentioned , have to be proven in playing against LOW BLOCKS , because 80% of the time we will be playing against teams sitting back wanting to counter us , they have to be good on the ball , passing in tight area's , creative , dribbling past players. Not sure how many of them you mentioned are used to playing in those situations.
As per usual Sean, wonderful and informative summary of what to possibly expect this coming transfer window! Keep up the great content mate! Also just s side comment- I got to see Spurs play against Newcastle on Wednesday night at the MCG here in Melbourne, it was absolutely brilliant and I still can’t believe I saw them live! I am planning to get to the UK for this coming season to see them at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, hopefully that all works out too.
Ange needs to put all his focus on the team. Forget the vaudeville act at the pressers and get the team humming. Im Australian, followed Ange for years and want him to get back to what he was.
