Had to read Joy Luck Club for school and I enjoyed it so much more than I thought I would. We also had to watch the movie and a year later I met Lauren Tom who was in it and we had a chat about that. So refreshing to hear stories from people with a culture completely different to yours.
The Great Library series is one of my absolute favorites. I just did a reread of the first 3 and blitzed through the 4th that came out last month. Can't wait for you to get to this series! It's not afraid to tackle some big issues, and has a cast of characters that you will absolutely fall in love with.
I’m so ready for City of Ghosts - my library has it as being catalogued 😭😭 If you like the Deathdate idea, I’d recommend Denton Little’s Deathdate (book outlet has it, but not the sequel) it’s a YA Dystopian where they all are told their Deathdates and it looks at how they handle it (wakes/funerals are preemptive for example to spend time with soon to expire loved ones) and how Denton handles his own Deathdate and kind of uncovers what’s behind the scenes as far as how the Deathdate system works and how people handle life knowing when they will die.
I just placed a book outlet order & got 5 books. Super excited to read Arlo Finch in the Valley of Fire (MG) & the graphic novel Spill Zone. I think these are both up your alley!
I chose Goodbye, Paris for my botm selection. I convinced my book club to choose it for our September meeting, too. I also finally got My Plain Jane! I've had it on hold from Libby app for a while now.
Recently, I've picked up SO many books! I like to buy used books, because I think it's better for the environment. I use ThriftBooks for used books at a reasonable price that lets me get lots of books for cheap. There I bought The Martian, Square Root of Summer, and All the Light We Cannot See. I also bought some books at WorldOfBooks UK. I picked up the Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. For new books, I picked up Three Dark Crowns and One of us is Lying at Foyles UK. I also borrow lots of audiobooks on overdrive. I love reading your book recommendations, and I love your channel!
I love your dress, Regan! Also I'm hoping to get back into the Mistborn series soon, I miss it so much and I still remember almost everything so I don't think I'd have to go back and reread
I've recently bought the Scottish crime writer Val McDermid's latest book Broken Ground, and also Nevermoor The Trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend.
The dinner list sounds good. Love your book hauls. You have got me into fantasy. I have started to read the red crown series and I am also starting a court of thorns and roses series 💖💋
I was just thinking with all the buzz for Crazy Rich Asians I should also watch Joy Luck Club..I didn't know it was based off a book, now I might have to get my hands on that too:P💙
You should read The False Prince it's a middles grade book about royalty, but it's so good and I would call it a YA book. Don't read the plot though, I recommend just diving right into it. It's so good and I love all three of the books in the trilogy. Love your videos so much!!!
I need the Dinner List like... now? It seems so fun and I feel like it could be hilarious and even really nostalgic for the main character. Brb, going to B&N! Thanks Reg!
I recently got the entire Darkest Minds series. I read the first book before the movie came out and decided to pick up the next books in the series so I can read them and see how the story ends. I'm especially excited to read The Darkest Legacy.
You should try Sabriel by Garth Nix, it's the first book of a series and it's a great fantasy that develops relatable characters with a really fun and interesting fantasy world -which is split into a modern part and magical kingdom. Plenty of action as the main character is a necromancer with an unique magic system! One of my new fav series atm
Susannah Jackson have you read his Keys to the Kingdom series? another fantastic series that I unfortunately never hear about on booktube - HIGHLY recommend it
Great video:) I am currently reading The Way of Kings. Thanks to you i read The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man’s fear. I loved both of those. Now im gonna start reading Brandon Sanderson books.(And i watched some of his lessons. And he said you can start reading my books from StormLight Archive if you are a masochist. Well that peaked my interest Lol.)
I always love watching your videos!! I just got into the YA genre because I only had my school library so THANK YOU for all these book reccs! Ill be honest though, my favorite book I am excited to read is The Prince's Guide to the Occult because its so beautiful omg. But i started game of thrones because of you and a clockwork reader to understand why everyone gets disappointed and now I wish I didn't because I got emotionally WAY TOO invested😂 thank you for all of your reccomenations i have been starting lots of more authors since starting watching your videos!
Malazan by Steven Erikson might be the best fantasy series, however it starts out so confusing no one can understand the first book. You should use Tors guide for book 1 and 2 when you read them, and you pretty much just have to push through book 1, without the guide you wont have fun, even still.....you might not, it's rough at first. It does become amazing after book 1, but you should be warned or read comments on the confusing nature of it. If you go in knowing that you wont get discouraged reading it.
Wow! That's a huge haul and honestly I'm excited about your review. In my case, i'm reading "Girls made of snow and glass" and I really want to read "Spinning Silver"
I bought books as well but I shouldn't have! 🤦🏻♀️😂 I have soooo many unread books already, but Amazon sometimes has these special prices on books that are in my wishlist!
I read The Valley of Amazement by Amy Tan a few years ago so I definitely want to check out The Joy Luck Club!! I also definitely need to get on the Brandon Sanderson hype train 😂
If you haven’t read it already you should read the Kitchen God’s Wife by Amy Tan my favorite book... i read it in high school and made me look at my parents in a different light. I read it before the Joy Luck Club... and in my opinion it’s better than Joy Luck Club but maybe because I related to it in some ways...
Hey Regan! You always say you have a book outlet affiliate link that you’ll put down below but I only ever see your book depository link. Am I missing something? I’d love to use it when I shop!
It's Malazan, not Mazalan and ho-boy is it a doozy to collect. I've only gotten the first 5 books in the series. If you wanna start reading the Malazan Book of the Fallen you need to start stacking up!
I'm currently reading Stardust by Neil gaiman.. for some reason I always thought I wouldn't enjoy fantasy, but I'm liking this one!! have you read it? thoughts?
As one who's read the book I can tell you if you're finding it hard now it's just gonna get harder because there's no climax and it just drags on and it feels like it's never gonna end.
