Do I have kids? No. Do I want/plan on having them ever? Nope. Am I still watching and liking these videos? You better believe it! Love that you’re back, Elle, and your new content :)
I think some people are missing the point of this video. The baby industry, much like others, can be incredibly confusing. She's reviewing the more expensive items with her OWN opinion (so, yes, you should take it with a grain of salt because it might work for you) to give you her experience before you spend your money. I'm not a mom, but I always research big purchases before I dive in. RU-vid is a great source for that because it gives you the visuals that articles and online reviews sometimes lack. If you have things that work for you and your kids, that's fantastic. There are cheaper options out there that beat the expensive - that's the WHOLE point of the video. And, yes, she had to "hack" the Snoo to fit her baby's needs. She had already been gifted it, and it was most likely too used at that point to be returned. She had to do what she needed for her baby, and it worked for her. She even stated that she DOESN'T recommend the hack to anyone else. Great video, Elle! I'm a longtime viewer who has enjoyed getting to grow up with you and Blair!
I don’t know if you’ll see this and this is SO nostalgic of me but it would be so cool to watch you do a fall candle haul this year. I miss watching them. You had the best candle hauls and book reviews.
I’m currently pregnant and love watching these videos! Whether the products are expensive or cheap, it’s good to know what’s out there and the quality. Elle is always honest and I appreciate that. There are so many cool things out there for babies now! It’s crazy and so cool 😊
Man all these negative comments about how much she spent. This video is her opinion on the big ticket items and whether she thought they were worth it. I don’t remember her saying in the notes or in the video to immediately go buy just that it was worth it for her and her baby and she’d recommend. Every mom and baby is different. Sheesh.
Elle never states that you need any of the products. If they’re too expensive for your budget, cool, don’t buy it. She’s simply giving her feedback on investment baby pieces and sharing her favorites. There’s no need for so many negative comments.
I wouldn’t say these are must haves at all, yikes. I think the most expensive piece of baby gear I bought was a snuggle me. Babies don’t need that much and they don’t need to be so expensive 🤷🏻♀️
I admit it. I'm a first time mom and was criticizing throughout the video. Then one of the comments pointed out people are jealous. It's true. They're beautiful, quality things and their price points don't match our current income without putting everything on a credit card. It's your choice what you find your dollars worth spending on and you probably have more dollars that you've worked hard to earn. So I shouldn't shame you. And. I hope other soon-to-be moms can watch this knowing you can still choose to have a safe, happy, healthy, content family life with much less in your bank account. I'm in a one bedroom apartment, debt free, no swings or bouncers or even a real changing pad. And it's also a great, simple way to go.
@@greenlimabean I use a floor bed too! True! That's a great point to say if you already know she's into the latest and greatest, then expect to see that. I meant "baby recommendation" videos also get a lot of views from panicky, impressionable first time moms who aren't familiar with the RU-vidr's channel.
Becoming a mom is still a little distant on the horizon for me right now, but I still love watching videos like this and of course seeing baby James! When he smiles, I smile 😍
I hope you ignore all those comments of people judging you. I can't believe some of the things people write!? I just want to say I started watching you and your sister 10 years ago when I just got married! Now I have 3 kids and I'm so excited I can still relate with you! You're amazing! And you work hard for your money you deserve every thing you purchased for your baby and more!
My youngest kid is 12...but I watched this video anyway because 1) I just love you and your personality and 2) I think it’s cool to see how much has changed since I had my kids. 💕
I’m so glad you’re back on RU-vid! How’s your sister by the way? Tell her we need an update! I hope she’s well. I feel like as someone who has moved many a times to many places, I can safely say that it takes at least 3 months to really feel settled and be ok. Moving to another house in the same state or moving back home like you feels safer. But her move was pretty drastic thus I genuinely hope she’s ok and I’m not just asking to be nosey.
I nannied for a family with twin babies and a toddler and the baby brezza was amazing. They had two different ones because they needed two different formulas and it saved so much time. It heated the formula to the perfect temperature and everything. I will say Elle is right that it didn’t always work perfectly though. Sometimes it would get clogged or other small problems, but overall it was a game changer
It’s funny because some of you are judging her purchases and you could easily watch one of the other thousands of videos that fit your budget...I don’t get the point of bashing her in her comments. She’s sharing her experiences with her purchases if you don’t like it move on.
/ I’m sure she’s fully aware that there are less expensive items out there for her child. Key words: Her child! If she wants to spend the money that she spent on her kid that that’s on her. And you’re are saying “we” speaking for everyone in the comments. There are some women who are “bashing” her in the comments about her purchases. YOU may have been giving her different perspective but some weren’t those are the women that I’m referring too.
/ I’m not the one creating a problem if anything you’re more bent out of shape then I am commenting on everyone’s comments that’s basically saying the same thing I’m saying. My whole point was you didn’t have to watch the video there are thousands of videos that potentially fits the persons budget that they are looking for. It defeats the purpose to tell someone that their idea of a “must have” isn’t a must have. It was a must have in her household for her child! And it COULD BE for yours too. That’s all she’s really stating. Smh
loved the video! I watched so many of these when I was pregnant and still love watching these now. btw, the Nuna Pipa Lite is literally the lightest infant car seat on the market (about 7 lbs). I think infant car seats are just awkward to carry which might make it feel heavier.
I can recommend the owlet monitor as well!! We got it for our daughter who was born at 33 weeks and 3 days and had to stay in the hospital for 3 weeks. Honestly I would’ve been scared to death to take her home without any kind of device to monitor her at home. Even though the doctors said she was fine. Luckily she recovered just fine and is now an absolutely happy and healthy 10 month old but for my own sanity and peace of mind this item was so worth it! If you are an anxious mama or you and your baby had a rough start - definitely get it. You might never need it, but every hour of sleep is precious and we all need to be well rested to be the mothers we want to be. ❤️🙏🏻
Please note that a car seat is a car seat really and not to be used as a stroller. You can do that for a couple of hours but a baby should not spend too much time in there as their little body gets kinda squished and its harder for them to breathe. Please google it to find more info on this topic
For me once my baby looked somewhat squished in the infant car seat we switched to a toddler car seat and normal stroller. I’m sure all parents do that. There are height and weight restrictions.
As a physiotherapist and mom I agree 100%. Let the baby in a car seat as short as possible. But never longer then 2 hours. And while the baby is sleeping tho oxygen goes down.
I actually have the Vista and nuna pipa lite. There is a special adapter that says nuna on it. I really recommend the baby store Magic Beans. They also have an awesome RU-vid review site. I called them and they gave us the right adapters needed! Hopefully they can help you out so you can use this for baby number 2 :)
I don’t have a lot of money to spend but for some baby products I bought them new and expensive. I didn’t want to spend unnecessary money on a bassinet but I got a crib instead which turns into a toddler bed. No need to transition from bassinet to crib and all these. The stroller is expensive but love it, the swing which saved my sanity since I couldn’t get anything done, and the high chair which he’ll also be using for a few years. Other than that the rest are just regular priced baby toys, etc.
On another note: I loved this video! Absolutely perfect amount of information vs personal experience & and of course the Elle-factor. Great content as always!
My advice to new moms on a budget is always to buy the carseat and crib (or wherever you plan on baby sleeping) new. Big items like swing (especially the swing), bouncer... Etc either borrow or put them on the registry because babies are so picky. After 3 kids, i kick myself to spending 300 on a travel system for our first kid because we hardly used the stroller.
We have the Nanit and I highly recommend mounting it to the wall. Half the benefit is getting the insights to how your baby sleeps and getting the recommendations on how to get them to sleep better. It was crucial on sleep training our daughter 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing, we have a baby almost the same age as James so this will come in handy for my next baby. We live in an apartment so we kept our baby stuff as minimalist as we could. We found affordable well reviewed products but there were a few things I would have liked to buy.
This was really helpful. One thing - I don't know what it's like in the US, but in the UK there's a big second hand market for things like mummaroos and the bigger toys. Obviously something like a car seat would need to be new for safety reasons, but you can pick other things up for a fraction of the retail price. Great for trying out different things if you're not sure what your baby will like.
The owlet saved one of my twin girls lives a month ago when she was ten months!! It is sooo worth it and worth using it longer than the first few months!
Thank you so much for sharing all this information Elle!! Now I know how can I help my daughter better on what she really needs for her baby! New mom as well! Thank you again! ❤️
I recommend the Nuna Lite100% I have twins and they are 6 months now and I'm able to carry both at the same time if I need to. I have no issue using the adaptors - was confusing at first but then once you figure it out it was very easy to use! Love the Uppa and Nuna combo!
the skip hop I got converts from a baby seat to toddler activity table and then into a table and chairs for little preschoolers =toddlers - like the uppa baby vista will last you a good 5-6 yrs and multiple children!
Love your honesty, Elle! You and I were pregnant and due about the same time so I loved your pregnancy vlogs and now love your mom videos since our boys are the same age 💙
Loved this video Elle, and I already have 3 kids haha. I love hearing what other mum's like and dislike. Quick question, are you trying to carry the nuna with the base attached? The base stays in the car. That's the only thing I can think of as to why it would be so heavy, and also why it wouldn't work with the adapters. Just trying to troubleshoot for you haha!
If you think the Pipa Lite is heavy, the Uppababy Mesa is almost 2 pounds heavier! 😂 The Pipa Lite is one of the safest and lightest on the market! Too bad it didn’t fit on your Vista.
Do you feel he gets too used to the constant vibrations from his bed then the swings? Please update us on your experience with switching him from that bassinet to a regular crib ❤️
Love this video!! Can you do more videos like this one? Like what you recommend for pregnancy, must have baby items, pass baby items, what you packed in your hospital bag, ect. I've been obsessed watching these types of videos recently and you are my favorite RU-vidr and I'm so excited you are back! And I'm glad you made it safe to your family In Tennessee! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Dang, girl, you bought all the expensive stuff. I say that, but I own 75% of it too. My kid hated the Mamaroo. He kept kicking off the owlet, too. But I kept them both for the next one...cause every baby is different.
Hi Elle I’m really excited to see you back and for your channel rebrand! I was a follower of you back in the day when you did all the beauty videos and glitter gossip etc and I’m excited for the change of content! I always gelled with you and the videos you made! I’m recently married and also hoping to be a mumma in the not too distant future so it’s lovely to be able to watch your journey especially as I’ve kind of grown up with you and to see how you’ve grown up, you seem so happy and it’s lovely! I’m just commenting as I’ve literally just rediscovered you again and subscribed :) xxx
I haven’t watched you since you had your back surgery and we’re off for a little while so happy to see you after so long I’ve always been a subscriber but you just popped into my subscriptions tab and I was excited. Going to watch your other videos now. 🥰
You know what would make a great video- one about formula. I think mothers should be encouraged to have a formula plan and research it early on just in case their breast feeding plans don’t pan out. In an ideal world, breast is best. But let’s get real, that’s not always possible and better to research it and have a plan early on is the best way to go. And yes, I realize that the baby may not digest or like what you initially choose, but at least you can be more informed when finding a new one. I don’t know, just a thought.
Was hoping you would include the baby play yard you have ( you linked it on insta)...the grey and white one.... I'm about to bite the bullet and purchase that item even though it's quite expensive! I really hope you do a review for items for 6+ months. My baby is almost 9 months so he's literally everywhere haha :)
I have 2 kids and a lot of these products are really great! Yes a little pricey but having a peace of mind that your child is safe is priceless! I actually did have the formula/ bottle maker and my son had spit up problems so we had the same issue. The water to formula ratio had to be perfect so he wouldn't spit up anything. Also we used the orbit G3 stroller, car seat, and bassinet system and loved it! The car seat was a little heavy but it was so easy to get him in and out of the car to the stroller without waking our sleeping baby! It was literally the easiest thing in the world to attach the car seat to the stroller and the car base. I would highly recommend this system. We even bought the convertible toddler car seat which was a dream!
The swings have a wide base because it's safer. While it may be inconvenient for you - it's safer for the baby because it's less likely to be knocked over or tip.
I think Blair got you the momaroo didnt she? She has a video on her channel from october last yr saying she bought it to surprise you guys in her video called 'Being a MOM for a day'
The Nuna Pipa Lite is by far the lightest car seat on the market. I totally regret not getting it and buying the Cybex. By the time my daughter was 6 months old, I struggled to carry her in it and she is by no means a big child. We ended up switching to the Nuna Rava seat not long after due to that. We have the Nuna Mixx2 stroller, (LOVE IT!!) but now we're on baby #2 and we aren't a fan of their double stroller. We are planning on getting same stroller and car seat combo you have! We have friends with it and they love it! Hopefully it works out for us.
I wanted the Owlet so badly but the mixed reviews kept me away. However like you said I would’ve LOVED that peace of mind bc I literally ended up in the rocker next to her crib wide awake watching her breathe for the first few weeks.
I found that baby furniture and clothes aren't really super expensive. You can get some things second hand or from family. :) The formula and diapers on the other hand...
There is 100% a way to get the Pipa to adapt to the Vista. Tons of people use both. I personally think the Mixx is better looking for that so I went with that. Also if you actually go hold other car seats they are crazy heavy compared to the Pipa especially the Mesa.
Not wanting to come across as disrespectful at all because I’m sure these products are great, and I love your videos Elle. But as a mom of two under two, I really hope pregnant new mamas out there don’t watch this and feel like they need to spend this kind of money on these big items. A $1200 bassinet and $1000 stroller are absolutely not necessary at all. My $100 pack n play and $150 stroller do the exact same thing 🤷🏼♀️
Babies don’t need anything fancy. If you have the money and want to spend the extra go for it :) people judge me for buying quality products but I don’t give a F that’s what his dad and I work for. It wasn’t from our family or friends. We got everything ourselves and that made us feel good about ourselves. At the end babies needs a roof, food, and love end of the day.
Thanks for the informative video! :) One question - when James woke up in the middle of the night did the Snoo help him to go back to sleep without your help? :) Best wishes for your family!
Thank you I'm a new pregnant mama and have watched blairs and your videos since the beginning. So cool how were all growing up together! Loved the advice
