Honestly the whole thing with Sheldon not being supportive of Kuthrapali’s people’s magazine thing because he doesn’t think it’s a big deal because he will continue to do bigger and greater things is actually really sweet. If he was just honest about why he didn’t show enthusiasm it may come out in a weird and Sheldon way but it shows he believes in his friend.

I think Sheldon made it clear that he didn’t support Raj’s accomplishment because he didn’t think what he’d accomplished was worth acknowledging let alone celebrating. It was exactly like Leonard’s mom’s reaction to his research being him replicating someone else’s- they were thinking practically and about themselves and from that standpoint they were right, while ignoring the emotional impact the situation and their reaction to it had on the other party. So he wasn’t thinking “Raj could achieve more” he was thinking “any idiot could do this so it’s not a real achievement and not with me wasting my time.”

The way Sheldon talks about his parents is completely different from young Sheldon. His parents are average people who love each other and their children. I've seen Mary drunk more times than George.
