Ah seng, our Malay compatriots have a special liking for this kind of fish, especially among the food sold by some Malay stall owners, it is a mid-range food. The asam sambal fish curry is also very popular among the Chinese.

super nice, simple setup and always getting fish. Never tried kayak fishing, do you know anywhere that is begineer friendly? , very little - mild wave.

Hi there! We can recommend you to try near Pasir Ris waters first near Carpark A or E. You can stay within the blue buoys in the sea if you don't feel comfortable venturing too far off the beach. Hope this helps! 😊

Hi there! Was wondering if you could share your fishing set up for beginners like myself? Love all your videos so far !
@BZFishing

Hi there! Thank you for watching! First of all, you will need a basic fishing rod and reel. We recommend that you try one of those fishing shops at Changi Village and ask for a basic fishing reel and rod set which should not cost more than S$100. Next, you will need your fishing rigs/sinkers. For starters, we recommend using an Apollo rig paired with a 60/80g sinker. Next if you wish to do kayak fishing like us(much higher chance to get fish as compared to shore), you will need to get an inflatable kayak. We bought ours at Decathlon and it brought us to many parts of Singapore waters ever since! Other essential items will include a fishing tackle box to store your stuff and hold your rods, scissors, fishing pliers, fishing net as well as a fish grip. We are also thinking of doing a short RU-vid video on how we set up so do keep a lookout for it! We hope this reply helps! 😊🎣

@@BZFishing thank you so much for taking the time to reply! I just went to a fishing tackle shop and there is so many things there and I didn’t know what I should be getting. I am still trying to convince my partner to fish with me haha. Thank you once again and hopefully I’ll see you guys soon

It’s wild caught PATIN fish, a HK couple asked a seafood restaurant Mgr to reserved for them a wild caught PATIN if they find one. They r willing to pay premium price for it. Good thing I didn’t throw it back n neither did u.

The catfish is decent for eating but you have to know how to gut the fish. Heres what i would recommend: cut away the head, trim out the belly area and take care not to break any of the innards when gutting. Wash off as much blood from belly area as much as you can as well as scrape off any slime on the fish. For eel tail catfish. Unfortunately nothing can be saved. The smell has gotten worse over the years but that could be due to the algae it's been grazing off.

Thank you for the tip! We cooked curry with the marine catfish and it tasted good! 😊

@@BZFishing I'm glad to see people accepting catfish as part of the pan fish family and you enjoyed it. You can definitely try out the method suggested next time. Just in case I didn't give enough detail with trimming out the belly. Do cut away and discard (or bag this part for crab bait for future use), the the entire rib cage including the shoulder as this would ensure that you eliminate any potential funky smell. Looking forward to your next adventure.

Can consider bleeding out the catfish, cut the gills, and the tail. Leave on fish stringer.
