I was saying the same thing to someone today. Once the dirt areas fill in, Big Bear Mountain roller coaster will look even better at Dollywood Theme Park!
Went on Memorial Day and it was great. Very little lines. We were able to ride this and many other coasters back to back. This was my favorite and my daughter loved Mystery Mine. The speed, smoothness, g forces on this one make it one I'll keep coming back for. Definitely sit in the front seats if you can. Really great review!
I would think so, I am not sure the draw for theme parks to build wooden ones in this day of age that tend to not be as smooth & a maintenance nightmare in comparison.
Big Bear Mountain roller coaster is very smooth! Eugene said they were putting a test seat out soon, one of the line queue workers said they would not. I lean towards the president saying they will have one but we will see!
Spent my 70th birthday at Dollywood last April. Finish the day off by writing this 10 times in a row. It was so much fun and something to remember my birthday by. During the day I also rode the eagle four times. It is also a very fun ride. I love dollywood!

Rode for the first time right at closing time in dec. Didn't even know it was there until we kept seeing red track everywhere and finally realized how to get to it. I was cold but so much fun! Long ride which was great!!
This ride is awesome. I’ve ridden some really good ones in my 56 years but this one is so smooth and exhilarating considering it’s not the fastest one out there.
This ride was awesome! I’m awful about holding on to anything and everything for dear life during rollercoasters but this one really gives you nothing haha it was awesome 😂😂
I was in the first group of people to ride this while it was testing. The park was closed and only a select few were invited in to ride it. I love how it meanders downward. It's fun
I hope you can Rita! Big Bear Mountain is a very smooth roller coaster, it never goes upside down & doesn't go over 48mph. It's a great family ride added to Dollywood!
Big Bear Mountain roller coaster is a very enjoyable ride, but I have noticed a lot of people mentioning wanting more theming on the ride. I think that is something they could always add Greg!
I just rode it and it was AMAZING one of my favorites my rating 9.5/10 0.5 removed cause no headrest but other thing it is awesome it’s fast,smooth,relaxing, and family enjoyable my family didn’t think I would do it since it kept breaking down but it was so awesome I definitely recommend for kids 10+ or 8+ really fun
Thanks John! Big Bear Mountain roller coaster though overall tame going no more than 48mph, does have some intense sections for those of us non-thrill seekers. I am glad I at least did it once!

Needs more theming, perhaps a few bear animatronics or actual tall trees to make it like you’re winding in & out of the forest. I get that it’s new & they need it open to start making money, so hopefully they add at least one or two actual bears, I mean that’s the whole point of the ride & land.
I know this was 2 months ago but I have a question. Does this ride jerk the neck in any way? I would like to ride this but my husband has neck issues. I wonder since you said it was a smooth ride, if it would bother his neck.
Big Bear is a very smooth ride, it does have a part that goes left and right a few times but is quite smooth when it does that. You may want to ride it first to see what you think since you know your husband's neck issues best and if it will be an issue for him. Have fun!

I just rode it today for the first time and immediately thought of Hagrids at Universal. A lot more intense than I was expecting. I'm actually surprised the height requirement is just 39 inches. It's fast with quick turns. Feels much faster than 48 mph IMO.
As of 2:30pm today, Big Bear Mountain roller coaster is open to anyone inside Dollywood. They will be adding this ride to the TimeSaver (skip to the front of the line for $) Pass soon.
The Yeti animatronic has been a nightmare for Disney's Animal Kingdom. There is audio of the bear roaring at the very end of the ride which may have been decided to keep consistency rather than an animatronic that doesn't always work. Just a thought...
I don't think I would want to ride this... I rode Firechaser, the other launched family coaster Dollywood has, and that was a bit much for me to handle 😞 This would probably be even more intense than Firechaser, with the sections that go sideways and faster launches 😢
I haven't done firechaser so I couldn't compare, but many other have compared Big Bear Mountain to it. Based on size & speed difference (FCE = 35mph - BBM = 48mph) I would say it is a more intense roller coaster.
They were looking to add a family ride, not another thrill ride. I’m glad they did, otherwise I would never ride it. I was so excited to have something I could do & loved it.
@@AdventureIsOutThere most of the rides in the park are family oriented to begin with as compared to thrill rides.the place has lost its charm and fun and is now to overpriced for a family like Disney is and that's what it is becoming.
@@deanmiller6177 I wouldn't describe Lightning Rod, Wild Eagle, Thunderhead, Mystery Mine, Tennessee Tornado as family rides with their height requirements. At only 39 inches its a fantastic addition to dollywood IMO. We have Disney annual passes and find Dollywood passes to have a great value.
Big Bear Mountain at Dollywood is an awesome family ride. It's not trying to be the next Lighting Rod or Wild Eagle level ride, it's trying to be for the whole family. We LOVED it!
