I've been inside Big Ben & seen the whole works. I first went up there for the millenium & 2 years later. I'm a VERY big fan of Big Ben. I've got lots of books about Big Ben. If there is anybody who has the same intrest in Big Ben as I have could you put a comment on you tube so I can look at it, I've been interested in Big Ben since my childhood when my late dad used 2 bring home books from the library about it
@@LukeWatson99 You two are not the only ones who love Big Ben, I LOVE the clock tower so much that I can not express it. It’s soothing chimes get me so excited when I hear them. I wish to go to London and see Big Ben up in person for the first time, and I can not wait until the repair and restoration works are done.
I love Big Ben so much! It's one of the most coolest places in London! And when you live in London you'll here the clock chime every 15 minutes after the hour and the hour.
Apparently when Big Ben was new you could hear the chimes all over London and even in some surrounding areas. These days you can barely hear it outside of Westminster. Not because of any changes in the clock or bells but just because it's drowned out by all the competing noise. The builders of Big Ben were't anticipating how noisy London would be a century later.
@@stephensnell5707 Yes, people sleep at night but you said “everyone”. There is no point at which everyone is asleep in a modern city. Cities run 24/7.
London is so big, that it is impossible to hear Big Ben within a short radius of it. At most five miles away you could ear it, but with every mile you go, it's sound decreases.
@@johnking5174as someone who lives in London you can actually hear Big Ben up to 7 miles depending on how quiet the night is HECK i been able to hear Big Ben from 9 miles away
yeah i've been to london twice, but only seen it once. when i first saw big ben i checked my watch and it was 3:55pm but as it was scaffolding i had to realise i wouldn't hear it chime :(
Very beautiful! I've been in London twice, and I was like "We must see Big Ben!" It's the most beautiful clock tower ever!! :oD Of course, London is a very beautiful place to be. It feels magical to be there!!
So lucky! I live in the United States and I've never been to London and I've always wanted to go there cause my family has never traveled out of country.
London is a much higher latitude than India the further north you go the longer the summer daylight, conversely in the winter time the sun goes down in the early afternoon by 4:00 p.m. it's dark out already.
@@hariranormal5584 and truth is the bells was silenced 4 years ago so repair work could be done on the clock to protect the ears of the workers going the repairs as the loudness of the bells could well have made the workers deaf
The bell is located inside the belfry and the outside of the belfry is above the clock face which is located easily at the night with the lights in the belfry
@@carwashslayer4235 it's super you agree with me and also note Big Ben has a weight of 13.5 tonnes and the hammer that strikes it each hour is 3 tonnes in weight
